2/10/22 Snippet, THE THING IN THE AIRLOCK.
Revisions on the fly!

Tobias looked down at his datalink. It was hard to tell at this low a rez, but the image of Domaine looked like he was really thinking about it. “Spies would surely keep records,” Domaine said. “Did she write anything down?”
“Thought of that, but there was nothing scribed on the walls,” Tobias replied.
“Nothing saved to wall memory, either.”
“All right, but I meant writing. Physical writing.”
Tobias blinked. “What, you mean on actual paper? That stuff’s on short supply on the moon. There was always something else worth more to bring up from the gravity well.”
But as he thought about it, Tobias could see the attraction paper would have for a spy. Can’t be hacked, easy to destroy, won’t show up on most counter-espionage scans — heck, it doesn’t even need a power source. “Right, so I’m looking for a book or a folder, then?” He looked around the room, which had plenty of physical hiding places to look in. “This could take some time.”
The THE ADAM PROJECT Teaser trailer.
THE ADAM PROJECT doesn’t look too bad. Kind of Spielberg-y. Also I have suspicions about what they plot’s really gonna be about.
Knowing my kids, it’d probably be the butter bugs.
My children have slightly macabre tastes. Giant bug plushies very well could be their jam (if you’ll pardon the pun). And yes, I’m very proud.
We have a cuddly #ThrowbackThursday for you today! The only thing better than plushies on #ValentinesDay? Baen plushies, be they Lois McMaster Bujold's butter bugs, @DavidWeberBooks treecats, or Wendell T. Manatee from @monsterhunter45 . pic.twitter.com/pnDqA83xse

Tweet of the Day, No, I Did Not Know This edition.
Coolness. Also: good flicks, the both of them.
Das Boot was released in the US on this day in 1982.

Did you know the U-Boat that chases down the Bantu Wind in Raiders of the Lost Ark is the same one from 'Das Boot?
Both movies were filming in the same area so Spielberg was able to 'borrow' U-Boat 26 for the scene. – Mike pic.twitter.com/qilrhshpws

‘Galaxy Song.’
The leg’s a good deal better, by the way.

So I guess it’s gonna be the Mystery Sampler.

Time for a poll. What should I offer as a first-day pledge bonus for TINSEL RAIN? https://t.co/teGT4J24ZY

…Maybe I should have put it on the old account. Anyway, check out the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter! Less than two weeks to go!
This ZORRO: THE CHRONICLES video game trailer looks appealing.
I’m always down for a Zorro game. Sneaking, swordplay, dramatic entrances – this could appeal. Although it’s based on a show I haven’t watched? I dunno if that’s going to make a difference. Still, even if it is maybe my kids will still like it.
02/09/22 Snippet, THE THING IN THE AIRLOCK.
Blackening people’s bad name!

I find it difficult to believe that we have retro-death cultists in Heinlein Station, Commander. It bemused Tobias when Asenath added a sniff sound effect to phrases like that; after all, they both knew that she didn’t have a nose. There would have been signs of their activity.
“Oh, I doubt Oates was looking for Red Imperials, per se. Even back in the old days” — by which he meant, last year — “they would have actively screened for them. But new cultists? Not everybody goes space-happy dramatically.”
Supposedly. I do not have an insider’s feel for human psychology. But if she was actively looking for a forming cult, why didn’t she report that to you? You may the acting Commandant, but you took the position as per regulations. You are the legitimate command authority.
“Yes,” Tobias said with forced lightness, “but I’m also crazy, remember? Maybe even crazy enough to get caught up in a cult. Or run it.”
Another Gumby movie? Did they not SEE the last Gumby movie?
Because I saw the last Gumby movie. I had small children at the time, which meant that I saw and I saw and I saw and I SAW THE LAST GUMBY MOVIE…
…sorry about that. Anyway, it’s even worse than you thought:
The Gumby universe, featuring the classic green clay figure, has been acquired by Fox.
The company is planning to reimagine the character created by Art Clokey for a new generation with new series across linear, digital and blockchain platforms
(#commissionearned)
There was no period in the original, by the way. I assume that this is because the editor saw the phrase “and blockchain platforms,” had an aneurysm of the spot, and nobody dared go in and finish the edits. Eventually they just extended a probe that remotely clicked publish on the screen, and vowed never to go to that particular site address again. It’s what I would have done, at least.
:pause:
Gumby. On the goram blockcha
