The TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter starts in three days!
February 22nd! Save the date, or sign up here (or here) and you’ll be reminded! TINSEL RAIN is my sequel to FROZEN DREAMS; Shamus Tom Vargas is back, and investigating murder and magic in the Kingdom of New California! FROZEN DREAMS will also be on super-sale on Kindle for the first week of the Kickstarter, so keep that in mind, too.
Hope to see you Tuesday!

The WONDER TWINS project shows us the dark side of pandering.
I can’t help but think that this is my fault, somehow: “Warner Bros. Pictures is currently in the process of developing HBO Max’s next live-action DC film, centering around super-powered alien siblings the Wonder Twins.” …I mean, I’m the target demographic, right? I watched the Super-Friends show. About midway through its long and complicated run through the Saturday morning cartoon lineup, so I guess that they want a shot at my eyeballs for this particular nostalgia hit.
…Sorry?
So I’m looking again at Kindle Vella.
I didn’t at first, because I didn’t have anything really new to use as serial fodder. I don’t want to use the current one on my Patreon, because I’m trying tom make that an inducement. But as I got my eight hours of sleep last night, something must have jogged loose in my head; because I woke up thinking, So. Should I have Lucas show back up before the next Tom Vargas novel? And I realized that I had a story to tell, there.
So. Maybe I can use Kindle Vella for that. As an experiment, belike. I dunno. It’s all about the liquidity, folks.

So, burnout, COVID, or I’m just really tired.
I think that the answer in all three cases is, “Go to bed early.” I’m going to finish my current episode of REACHER first, though. I think that’s reasonable.
Hey, Cyberpunk 2077 did its update. No, I’m not linking to the site…
…that told me. You know why? Because if you’re going to assign a story on the Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 patch, you probably shouldn’t pick a writer who refused to play C2077 when it came out, and still won’t do it now. I mean, seriously, what the Hell? I don’t give a tinker’s damn how some random techsite wordgrinder feels about the game. Articles kvetching about How Game X Sucks is already a buyer’s market: if I’m gonna link to one, it’s gotta give me more value-added than I still hate how they released this game. That and three bucks…
…hold on, sorry, four bucks. Inflation, don’t you know…
…that and four bucks will get you a latte. Social media ain’t a charity, folks. You gotta deliver the deliverables.

PS: The update is 43 gigs, by the way. I really should go look at the changelog.

‘She’s A Mystery To Me.’
No more snippets for THE THING IN THE AIRLOCK, maybe.
I was feeling blocked, a little, so I’m skipping ahead and writing all the stuff that I’ve already gotten straight in my head. Then I’ll go back and fill the rest in. Which is fine, but it means I’m writing things out of order. So… too many spoilers from today’s wordcount, alas.
Ah, the glamorous life of a writer.

SM Stirling FINALLY gets to write the third LORDS OF CREATION book.
This is seriously awesome news. The short version is, SM Stirling wrote two books (THE SKY PEOPLE and IN THE HALLS OF THE CRIMSON KINGS) which took as their concept, What if Golden Age science fiction had been right about Mars and Venus? The books are filled with dinosaurs and lost tribes and weird technological relics and dueling Martians and scheming and a lot of traipsing through various almost-Terran wilderness, and they were a lot of fun. And next year we get the next book in the series, which will be nice. I’m hoping for some torchships, myself. And maybe a hidden paradise on one of the moons of Jupiter or Saturn.

v0.8 of the Fermi Resolution rPG up on Patreon.
Now, this is how it goes. You folks, you use the Dropbox link. But when you tell other people, you give ’em the Patreon link. See? See? …Unless they’re, I dunno, cool and everything. In that case: yeah, give ’em the Dropbox link. I trust your judgement.

Good news: I can keep the paperback price of TINSEL RAIN down to $12.99.
Did some preliminaries, and it looks like the $12.99 price point still works. Well, for the moment at least. Ask me again in six months, given that inflation’s apparently a thing now.
Huzzah.
Anyway, plenty of incentive for me to get enough liquidity to publish as quick as possible, hey? Click here or here to sign up for notifications. Five days to go!
