Quote of the Day, I Have A Sherman Tank So Your Argument Is Invalid edition.

This is old, but good. Short version: man buys tank. Man parks tank outside of his house while he works out final home for the tank. The bug up the a*s of the man’s HOA decides this is intolerable, starts up the passive aggressive machine, and sends a certified letter. Result?

In the spirit of General Patton, Buzbee was unmoved by this opening salvo. “Typical,” he says. “It sounds like small-town stuff, but this was Houston, Texas. But I didn’t fret over it. Hell, I would have moved it two weeks before I did but for the fact I got that letter. So then I decided I’d leave the tank here for two more weeks just to see what they would do about it.”

What they did about it was start writing parking tickets, which is funny. I mean, generally speaking you can assume that anybody rich enough to buy a tank is rich enough to just pay the parking tickets. Besides, he was moving it anyway to a nice ranch, where it can peacefully frolic and run over cars…

The TORG Bundles of Holding.

TORG Eternity Essentials and TORG Eternity Cosms. I have most of the former from the original Kickstarter; am considering grabbing the latter. The major thing stopping me is that I haven’t got time to play it – but since when has that ever stopped a gamer?

Man, at this rate I better hope there’s a gaming room in Heaven.

The Surprise! Brandon Sanderson *Really* Doesn’t Need My Help to Advertise His Four Secret Novels Kickstarter.

I mean… wow. Thirteen million on a one million dollar pledge goal. In the first day. That is, like, massively cool.

Congratulations, Brandon Sanderson. It’s fun to see this going on. Not as much fun as seeing it going on for you, I imagine, but still fun to see.

Annnnd TINSEL RAIN is off to the editor!

Given how well the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter is going, I’m comfortable with starting the process. I will have to hold off on getting the map updated and a book cover designed, but those are both relatively straightforward jobs. I’ll need the text edited before I can get the cover done anyway, because of page count issues.

It was a slow day, mostly because it’s the first day of the month. I’m always slow to get back into the swing of things on the first. I always feel slow, and vaguely listless. Possibly I need to manage my time better?

The new THE ADAM PROJECT trailer.

THE ADAM PROJECT is kind of growing on me:

But that might just be the imposed nostalgia. There’s a You guys have lots of discretionary income still, right? 1980s vibe going on here, and I suspect that the references to fatherhood are likewise deliberately and carefully highlighted. A lot of people from my particular sub-demographic of our generation didn’t really know theirs.

Still, looks like fun. March 11th.

First, and successful, week done on the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter.

Looking at the numbers… TINSEL RAIN is definitely outperforming TALES FROM THE FERMI RESOLUTION and is not too far off from FROZEN DREAMS at this point of the cycle in terms of revenue, although I had more backers at this stage for the latter. I figure that’s to be expected: the first book had a lot of people showing up to support me actually, wow, writing a novel and everything. The drop-off from the first to the second Kickstarter was instructive, although I did wonder how much of that was due to the first book being a novel and the second being a short story collection. Preliminary results comparing TALES and TINSEL RAIN suggests that it is a factor. I guess it really is true: novels sell better than short stories. God knows the latter is far more of a buyer’s market.

Anyway, good first week, and now I have to find new places to get people to see the Kickstarter. :brightly: Suggestions welcome!
