The pre-Kickstarter anxiety just kick-started itself!
God, how I love this mental state. It happens every single time I do a crowdfund. I’m reasonably sure I can hit the target goal, and I know that there’s an interest in the book. I’ve had people ask me when I was doing a sequel to FROZEN DREAMS. Reader feedback on the book has been positive so far. Objectively, everything is fine.
And yet.
…I guess that’s why they call it a neurosis. Anyway, if I seem less poised than usual, it’s because of that. Also, if you haven’t signed up for launch notifications for the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter you can do so here.

Zack Snyder’s REBEL MOON lands at Netflix.
Variety reports REBEL MOON as a “sci-fi saga being created for Netflix that has a definite “Seven Samurai,” Akira Kurosawa vibe to it and actually began life as a grand pitch for a “Star Wars“-based feature nearly a decade ago prior to Disney swallowing up Lucasfilm in 2012.”

Works for me. Obviously, I’m a fan of Snyder’s work. And I’m down with, shockingly. even a half-new science fiction IP. No sense doing the same thing over and over again (he says, as he readies the Kickstarter for the book sequel to FROZEN DREAMS)…

Patreon Microfiction: Fermentir.
I do wonder whether something like ‘Fermentir’ might really exist. I mean, simply lying doesn’t violate any of the laws of physics, right? And people do like to be sold the fantasy. Also, it seems a harmless way to separate wealthy people with bad judgement from their excess money, which is not really a wicked thing to do if everyone’s smiling afterward.
Or something like that.

I recommend musical therapy.
Tough weekend. Heck, tough month. Do what you can, folks – but take an extra breath or two, too. Heck, take three. Because three…

Brotherhood-of-the-Viridian-Scorpion-Google-DocsDownloadBook of the Week: Jimmy Dean’s Last Dance.
I’ve been meaning to pick up A.K. Alliss’s Jimmy Dean’s Last Dance for some time. It’s got an interesting alternate history premise: in it, James Dean didn’t end up dying spectacularly in a car crash, but he’s not a big-time actor, either. In fact, it’s 1962 and he’s found himself somehow investigating what will be a certain murder…
Anybody, I’m about a fifth in, and so far it’s noir-y goodness. Scandal, death, murder, corruption, and what will probably be a horrible American musical scene. The book makes that clear, right from the start.

Tweet of the Day, I Refuse To Check This Ted Turner Story edition.
It is just absurd enough to be the truth…

…and there’s no actual upside to debunking it. Let’s just all agree/concede that it would have to be a really big safe, and move on.

I will be selling my books at Farpoint 29 in a week!
I plan to have the table up and running Friday night, and I should be leaving some time Sunday. If you’re at Farpoint, stop on by! I will be happy to sell you a book. If you’re not going to be at Farpoint, just… buy ’em now, I guess?

PS: I suspect a little burnout, so I’m taking a break from writing stuff until Sunday. Although now I’m thinking about what Lucas is up to…
