[This was almost an embarrassing post.]

[I am not perfect, alas. I had seen a juicy story, and had gone off on it – only, I had gotten a key detail wrong; and if I had hit ‘Publish’ I would have just had to shamefacedly unpublish it later. I mention this, not to tantalize, but to remind myself not to be too snarky before my second cup of coffee. Or possibly not at all.]

[…Well. Let’s not go crazy, here. Self-reflection is fine, as long as you don’t do too much of it.]

Need to make a decision this weekend on Balticon.

Cheaper table than the last one and Balticon will have a good turnout, I think. But it’s gonna be in the Inner Harbor, which is going to make traveling there and back a pain. Then again, Baltimore is close enough I could conceivably day-trip it. But I dunno. Conventions feel like a place to sell books, but I’m not sure I’ve worked out how to do it.

Anyway, again: I need to decide this weekend.

In Nomine Revisited: Sicarius, Calabite of Lust.

Writeup aside, I suspect the full amusement value in a character like this is in making him an NPC that the party has to keep alive — and not kill themselves. Intelligence 1 in this game is cow territory. Add to that the entire ‘personified entropy’ thing and you’ll have endless entertainment as a GM.

The slightly grating SLOW HORSES trailer.

There is something bugging me about this SLOW HORSES trailer, and I don’t know what it is.

The concept looks fine, the actors look fine, the dialogue looks fine – but the trailer is unpleasant. I can’t quite put my finger on it, either, which is maddening. Maybe it was where I first saw it? There were an unsettling number of expanding links and whatnot that made the video skitter around the screen a lot.

Day Ten of the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter!

We’re just under $1,600, which is excellent news. But, you know, filthy lucre and all that. Also, I want the audiobook. So back the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter today!

Tweet of the Day, This Is @Elonmusk’s Broomstick edition.

I mean, seriously. This threat would be a lot more interesting if we didn’t happen to have private orbital capacity at the moment. As it is… heck, Space Force was already phasing out Russian engines. We’re gonna be good to go, thanks.

I didn’t feel well, today.

Something I ate, I think. I suspect it was too much grease, which is simultaneously hideous and wonderful news. Hideous, because grease is awesome; and wonderful, because grease is a great way to gain weight.

Anyway, slept a bit and now I feel better. Well, except for worrying about the Kickstarter, the kids’ schooling, and the general geopolitical situation going on out there right now. Been tacking on more prayers for wisdom and good judgement lately.

Everybody, stay safe.

Trying the Kindle Vella ‘thing:’ THE STARS ARE WRONG.

I dunno if this is going to work, but it’s worth an experiment, at least. THE STARS ARE WRONG is a novella (also, last month’s Patreon short story*) in a Cthulhu Mythos style… with a twist! And also provided in serial form. It’s functionally equivalent to the aforementioned Patreon offering, so if you’re a Patron there’s no need to check it out. Mostly I just want to see what happens.

*Interestingly, Kindle Vella does not care about reprints. More or less: you can’t put up anything that you don’t have the rights to, or anything that’s available for free. But apparently being behind a paywall is fine.

The ‘Damn, I missed summer movies’ BULLET TRAIN trailer.

BULLET TRAIN looks like nice, uncomplicated fun. Just as long as you don’t actually tug on any of the plot threads. But why would you do that? Such a thing is anathema to the summer movie experience.
