First day of the Farpoint con done!

Sold some books, got a Kickstarter backer or two, distributed a couple of copies of the RPG, and generally got my stuff out. It was a good start to the weekend; and it should be even better tomorrow, when the main events start. But I am tired. Being social is hard. I’m just not as used to it as I used to be.

The STAND STILL, STAY SILENT Vol. 4 Kickstarter.

The fourth of sixth volumes, and there won’t be a seventh: Stand Still, Stay Silent is in the wrap-up stage. Which is a shame, but it’s Minna’s webcomic, not mine. If she’s done, she’s done, and that’s both the beginning and the end of it. Making her keep doing a project that she’s not enthusiastic about doing would only wreck the comic.

Alas.

Going to Farpoint this afternoon!

I can set up (and sell books!) tonight, so I’ll be going after the kids’ schooling is squared away for the weekend. The big day at Farpoint will be tomorrow, I figure, but I’m just as happy to prep the retail space ahead of time. Then I can just waltz in and tell people about the Kickstarter.

TINSEL RAIN Update: I wonder… how do people feel about bookplates?

I did some pricing for them* and the cost isn’t too bad for custom-made ones. But I’m essentially doing softcovers here. Would people be interested in signed bookplates featuring one of these designs, do you think? Either as part of the Kickstarter, or as something I just sell to folks buying my books on Amazon? The answer can be no.

*Short version: international shipping has become horrible, both in expenses and reliability. It’d be cheaper for everybody internationally if they just bought the book in their own country’s Amazon and I sent them a signed book plate. But if I’m gonna buy one of those, well: there’s the savings in buying in bulk to consider…

New TINSEL RAIN stretch goal announced: an audiobook!

I was going to keep it mysterious for the Kickstarter, but I’m listening to a Backerkit crowdcast right and the presenter was very convincing about how that’s a bad idea generally. So, here’s the latest TINSEL RAIN stretch goal:

 $4,500: …Audiobook!  At this tier, I’ll have enough to pay for the audiobook version of TINSEL RAIN! I’ll be using the same narrator as before, too. This reward goes to everybody who backs at the E-Book plus Special Thanks! level or above. (Note: this will be the equivalent of Audible files, not the Audible files themselves. Note also that the audiobook will not be ready in September.)

Just let Dragon Age 4 die already, Bioware.

This says it all, really: “Dragon Age 4 has been a long time coming and BioWare still doesn’t have much to show for all the years it has spent developing the RPG. And even though there still isn’t much to reveal about the game, the team gave an update on its development, which coincided with another lead leaving the team.“

I know the franchise is dead, or at least better off that way. ComingSoon does, too. Shoot, even Bioware itself must realize this by now. So… kill it. Kill it, and Mass Effect, and have done with the whole sorry affair.

Testing the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter QR Code.

I’m going to need this for Farpoint, which will start in two days. I’m hoping to get some backers at the same time that I sell some books, because synergistic effects are awesome. I’ll also be handing out free PDFs of the pre-release RPG, because every little bit helps.
