Long term project: Finishing stuff.
Pretty much what it says on the label: I have a lot of half-done stories on my hard drive, and this morning I finally got off my butt and indexed them. Now I know what to work on, when I’m stuck for something to do! Huzzah for me.
…It’s fascinating, just how useful spreadsheets are. How on earth did people ever organize things before them? I seem to remember… badly?

‘Space Cowboy.’
I am so ready for winter to be over… hold on.
It should be over. The equinox was a week ago. And it’s below freezing out there now! We’ve got the heat on and I’m wearing a hoodie. In Maryland, at the end of March. What is going on here?
TL9 Watch: Germ-killing safe UV lights.
All press releases are exaggerated, but this: “A type of ultraviolet light called Far-UVC could dramatically change how we combat the transmission of airborne pathogens in indoor environments, scientists report in a new study…” does seem to be backed up by the actual paper. Short version is, they think they’ve got a method for using UV light to fry pathogens without the radiation being at levels where it’s also burning your skin, wrecking your eyes, or giving you skin cancer. Which, if it works, would be enormously helpful in medical facilities.
It’d also be killer (heh) against vampires, but that’s another issue entirely.
Location Seed: Lake Carmi Survival Facility.
I basically decided to look at a random spot on the map and say, “What could I put there that was interesting?” I found a lake. You bury stuff in lakes, right?
Lake-Carmi-Survival-Facility-Google-DocsDownloadThe Cleverly Sustainable WYRMWOOD: APOCALYPSE trailer.
Let us be clear-eyed about this: WYRMWOOD: APOCALYPSE will very likely suck. Most zombie films do*. But I am legit impressed with the recycling potential to be found in ambulatory post-mortem entities. It’s always nice to see something innovative in cinema.
*Although apparently WYMWOOD: ROAD OF THE DEAD did not.

Happy birthday to me!
Nothing planned for today, because schedules. The birthday bar visit was last Saturday, and cake tomorrow because bespoke cakes take time to make. So no worries on either front.
As to what to get me for my birthday, well, that’s easy: buy one of my books. It’s the kind of gift where we both benefit! Besides, depending on what you buy it’ll be cheaper than a card.

So, I will have a table at Balticon 56.
Balticon 56 will be from May 27-30th, at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in (shocker) Baltimore, MD. I expect I’ll be setting up the 28th; still haven’t worked out whether I’ll be staying at the hotel those two days. It’s not very far from home, after all. Cheaper, too.
Will TINSEL RAIN be ready by then? I… dunno. It’ll definitely be ready for FrightReads, but that’s a much smaller venue: but since I was originally expecting the book not to be ready until the end of the year, even having it almost ready in May would be a win. There’ll be other conventions, surely.
Tweet of the Day, EPIC GIGA-TROLL UNLOCKED edition.
I did not think that anything would make me laugh about the Oscars.
I was wrong.

Dear Lord, but I hope that grated on the room’s collective soul.
