The ‘Curiously Promising’ IMMANENCE trailer.

These indy films always look good at first glance, but for some reason they usually don’t really deliver for me. But I give full points to IMMANENCE for the line The Devil! – The seas have always belonged to him. That’s a line I would have not been ashamed to write.

The TINSEL RAIN alpha edits are done!

Huzzah! I’ll be collecting emails from everybody who volunteered to beta read tonight and send over the text tomorrow. Looking forward to getting more feedback. And starting the Kickstarter, so that I can maybe pay for this sucker. And, of course, publishing TINSEL RAIN…

‘Hey Ya!’

You know, somebody could have told me about this. Just saying.

The up to Chapter 17 alpha edits on TINSEL RAIN are done!

Seven chapters to go! I’m hoping to have TINSEL RAIN ready for the beta readers by Saturday. It can’t hurt to have as much time as possible, right?

I’ve noticed that the edits are not as, ah, ubiquitous as last time. Or should that be omnipresent? This gives me hope that my writing has improved since then…

So, I have a novella sent out. [Advice bleg …ish]

13.5K words, horror/fantasy, original piece, and I have pretty much run out of places where they’d pay more than fifty bucks for the blessed thing. Fifty bucks works out to .003 cents a word, by the way — no, my bad: it works out to .004 cents a word, if you round up. Completely different, that!

Seriously, what do I do with the damned thing? Because the problem with publishing it myself on Kindle is that there’s no money for editing and art, because all of the cash for 2022 is earmarked for TINSEL RAIN. I could try to edit it myself and skip the art, but… I dunno. It ain’t easy out here for a producer of short fiction*.

Suggestions welcome.

*It’s hard to tell how well PICKMAN’S MODEL: A ROMANCE did, because of the Kickstarter. Presumably most of those people would have bought their own copy anyway, but who knows? I’m not complaining, though. I ended up breaking even, more or less. But I don’t think it’d be appropriate to do another Kickstarter for this particular project; I only did it for PICKMAN’S MODEL because I wanted to get paid for my first sale, dagnabbit. That doesn’t apply here.

Making some slow-cooked pork.

Gonna start it up at noon, so if you have suggestions, let me know. I do a minimalist pork slow-cook, but I can choose to be different about it. It’s allowed.

Last day of the MIMICS, AN UNNECESSARY WORK Kickstarter.

Less than five hundred bucks away from the last stretch goal, too. Neat-o.

01/27/22 Snippet, DESERT.

Amazing what difference a full night’s sleep makes.

Patreon!

This plan would go off so much easier if the elves had all of their cavalry chasing one dumbass orc.

Not that it was a great plan. I go distract the guards. Shiner sets the captives free, and don’t worry about how he’s gonna do it. Blondie goes and takes care of the gate, and really don’t worry about how she’s gonna do it. Why am I doing this, again?

Although he knew why: the three of them were in a position to take a slap at some elves. And not civilized, assimilated elves, either: these were real old-school point-ears, the ones whose only problem with the first elvish invasions were that they didn’t succeed. There was no love lost between Elflanders and anybody. The urge to put a spoke in their wheels was attractive on general principles. The trick was convincing yourself not to do it, and none of the three had been inclined to try.

Just got slammed with an inconvenient wave of tired.

I think I’m going to bed. Well, after I load the dishwasher. And push the Publish button here. But still in the next ten minutes or so.

“ONE OF US! ONE OF US!”

Well, except for the ridiculous amounts of money and the entire acting thing. But you don’t learn this one by accident. I agree with Weird Al, here: it’s a good sign.

There are MANY reasons why I wanted to cast Daniel Radcliffe in my movie, but this is what really clinched the deal for me. (He’s going to absolutely kill this.) pic.twitter.com/TiDNXwQdtR
