THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER cast reveals a truth…

To wit: actors just can’t resist that sweet, sweet Marvel money. Even the big names:

“[Chris] Hemsworth is returning to the title role, alongside Natalie Portman, returning as Jane Foster, and taking on the mantle of Mighty Thor; Tessa Thompson, returning as Valkyrie; Jaimie Alexander as Sif; Karen Gillan as Nebula; Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Sean Gunn as Kraglin; Waititi himself as Korg; Luke Hemsworth as Asgardian Thor actor; Sam Neill as Asgardian Odin actor; and Matt Damon as Asgardian Loki actor. They join newcomers Christian Bale, who will play Gorr the God Butcher; Melissa McCarthy, who will play Actor Hela; and Russell Crowe as Zeus.”

…I raised an eyebrow at the suggestion that Waititi is reusing the ‘actors recreating the last movie wheeze,’ but casting Melissa McCarthy as Hela is a good enough visual gag that I’ll allow it.

PS: Hmm. Do I want to see this one in 3D? I might, rabbit. I might.

The SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Honest Trailer.

I wanna push back a little on Honest Trailers: the studio did its level best to muddy the waters on the Big Reveal of SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME. They did better than I thought they would on that front, too. Also note: there’s some big spoilers in this video. I assume everybody’s already seen it (it’s a fun flick), but You Have Been Warned.

Long term project: Finishing stuff.

Pretty much what it says on the label: I have a lot of half-done stories on my hard drive, and this morning I finally got off my butt and indexed them. Now I know what to work on, when I’m stuck for something to do! Huzzah for me.

…It’s fascinating, just how useful spreadsheets are. How on earth did people ever organize things before them? I seem to remember… badly?

I am so ready for winter to be over… hold on.

It should be over. The equinox was a week ago. And it’s below freezing out there now! We’ve got the heat on and I’m wearing a hoodie. In Maryland, at the end of March. What is going on here?

TL9 Watch: Germ-killing safe UV lights.

All press releases are exaggerated, but this: “A type of ultraviolet light called Far-UVC could dramatically change how we combat the transmission of airborne pathogens in indoor environments, scientists report in a new study…” does seem to be backed up by the actual paper. Short version is, they think they’ve got a method for using UV light to fry pathogens without the radiation being at levels where it’s also burning your skin, wrecking your eyes, or giving you skin cancer. Which, if it works, would be enormously helpful in medical facilities.

It’d also be killer (heh) against vampires, but that’s another issue entirely.

Location Seed: Lake Carmi Survival Facility.

I basically decided to look at a random spot on the map and say, “What could I put there that was interesting?” I found a lake. You bury stuff in lakes, right?
