05/01/2022 Snippet, HERO OF THE REVOLUTION.
Going back to this one, because I think I know whodunit now. Kind of important, in your murder mystery.

“The name of the deceased is Iomuel,” said the demon acting as liaison, not even bothering to look at his notebook. He’d probably had already memorized the important bits, out of sheer terror. “And mine is Forfax. The Embassy has assigned me to ensure that vengeance is inflicted.”
“This angel sees you, Forfax, and is named Vadriel,” I replied in the approved, frankly stuffy style. Then I unbent, just a touch. “And I’m here to see that justice is done. If we both get what we want, that’s fine with me.”
I could tell that this Forfax had been expecting nothing but stuffiness, which was fair. Heaven and Hell might be at peace, but it was a watchful one. Over-formality kept both sides from thinking about how great it’d be if we just started shoving flaming swords into each other again.
I peered at the corpse again, this time trying to get a feel for the psyche underneath the skin. “He was… Fallen, correct? And an Eldest?”
“Yes. Iomuel used to be elohim; pretty high in Uriel’s councils until…” he trailed off.
“Until the Great Rebellion, the War in Heaven, and the Fall of Lucifer,” I finished for him. I kept the satisfaction out of my voice, out of courtesy. And prudence, seeing as this demon had gotten killed while under Heaven’s protection.
Patreon Microfiction: Goes Right To Their Heads.
If you’re wondering why they still sell Terran beer in the world of “Goes Right To Their Heads,” the answer is simple: money. Lots and lots of money. Turns out you can acquire a lot of alien psionic protection simply by being generous when it comes to their tab…

‘Hey Ya!’ (WotE Cover)
Weekend posting in effect. (Kindle Vella links!)
I got a fun activity scheduled for tomorrow, so expect light to nonexistent posting until Sunday. Until then, can I recommend my Kindle Vella stories?

All I know is, the first one was pitch-perfect.

Book of the Week: Terro-Human Future History: Complete Series.
The Terro-Human Future History: Complete Series is one of those ninety-nine cent specials. Which is to say, it’s collected a lot of H. Beam Piper’s stuff and tossed it into Kindle form. Fair warning: the formatting will probably throw up the occasional typo. Then again, the entire point of books like this is to have something on your Kindle while you’re at the beach. No reason to over-think it, right?

The April Patreon stuff is up!
I know: oh, so early. Busy weekend ahead. Need to clear the decks beforehand.
Anyway:
Short Story: Mouthy. Not gonna spoil it. Never gonna be able to sell it, either.RPG supplement: Ashes of Empire, Part 4: The Undergrounder Realms. Time to talk about the nonhuman races that toppled the Empire of Ash! And where are the Halflings, you ask? …Where, indeed.

So, movies for May.
Definitely the new DR. STRANGE, and I’m giving real thought to FIRESTARTER*. I’m skipping THE NORTHMAN because it’s not my medieval time period and my wife (it’s much closer to her medieval time period) doesn’t seem interested in it. Any other suggestions for flicks I should catch? I’m open to suggestions.
*I want a movie as 1970s-style paranoid as the original book – and, yes, it was published in 1980. That just means it was written in the 1970s. And, my droogies, but that’s crystal clear. …Again, this is fine – but I want a movie that taps into the Seventies’ paranoia vein, not the 2020s’. The modern stuff just isn’t as good.

Adventure seed: Operation WATERMELON CRANKSHAFT.
I dunno. It just sounds like the sort of random mission name a computer would come up with, for security reasons. Although I don’t know who they’re hiding information from.
