Azgaar’s Fantasy Map Generator!

Got turned onto this by a buddy on Facebook. Azgaar’s Fantasy Map Generator is… well, that’s pretty much what it does. But with layers. It’ll do political borders, cultures, biomes, you name it. You can also alter the names of things, and export the whole thing to a digital image when you’re done. It’s pretty slick.

Seriously, check this one out if you’re going to run a fantasy campaign and don’t want to come up with your own map.

The Shadowrun Sixth World Essentials Bundle of Holding.

You would think I would have played Shadowrun more – or, indeed, at all. Elves-and-Orcs cyberpunk sounds right up my alley. But for some reason the best I’ve ever been able to do is buy a couple of the books, and play the video games. The isomorphic ones, I mean. At any rate: Shadowrun Sixth World Essentials is the new Bundle of Holding. May you succeed where I failed.

Plugging along on the TINSEL RAIN edits.

A little behind on them, but much less than before. I kind of needed the weekend off, too. It’s important to be clear-headed.

At any rate, TINSEL RAIN is still on track to be released early. It probably won’t have physical copies for Balticon, but with any luck I’ll be able to have links to the e-book version. That will do. I certainly will have it for FrightReads… and I’ll need to think about whether I’ll have a new chapbook ready for then, as well. Keep watching the skies!

The WONDER TWINS movie has been canceled.

Our not-very-long only-kind-of-national more-like-a-slightly-weird dream is over: “A couple of weeks ago it was announced that Warner Bros. had cast 1883 actress Isabel May and Riverdale actor KJ Apa to co-star in DC’s live-action Wonder Twins movie. The movie was being produced for HBO Max, but the film has now reportedly been canceled.”

Honestly, I was bemused about this project from the start. What itch was it hoping to scratch? Sure, I watched Super Friends when I was a kid. Most people my age did. And I imagine that most people my age avoid re-watching the shows now, because dear God but they must suck. So I never saw the appeal, really.

Nostalgia has its limits.

Tweet of the Day, Time For A Hit Of Pure Nostalgia edition.

This should at least be on the HBO Max website splash page.

Why this doesn’t play ahead of every movie someone cues up on HBO Max is beyond me. pic.twitter.com/MqaA45XFOc

05/02/2022 Snippet, HERO OF THE REVOLUTION.

Hounds!

Patreon!

Since the Hounds were already on the case — oddly, without me being told about it — I decided to check in with them next. Besides, one of their brimstone-sniffers would want to check me out anyway, given my close proximity to demons under uncontrolled conditions. I felt fine, but there was no harm in getting the chore out of the way early.

Nobody would talk to me before the sniffer gave me a clean bill of sanctity, which I expected. What I didn’t expect was the lack of information on Iomuel. “He was first active about thirty thousand years ago, during the Second War of the Land Bridge,” a sleek little Wheel in the records office told me. “He inflicted numerous atrocities in the Doggerland Drowning, then operated in northern Eurasia during the False Cultivation period. Pretty gruesome stuff.”

(Don’t bother looking any of that up. Let me put it this way: Mesopotamia is not the place where human civilization started. It’s just the first place where a human civilization survived.)

“Right, he’s a demon,” I said. “Why was he on the watch list? We’ve let in worse.”

The Wheel spun, idly. “I assume it was for his political leanings, Angel Vadriel. He was of the Chernobyl faction, after all. Most of those either very publicly recanted after the Treaty was signed, or they were quietly killed. The few that managed to avoid either are of special interest to everybody.”

The Fantastic Four Curse lives.

Although this is fairly benign: “ Jon Watts has withdrawn as the director of Fantastic Four, the reinvention of the venerable Marvel Comics series at Marvel Studios and Disney. Watts just directed Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios film that grossed $1.89 billion to become the sixth highest-grossing film of all time.” Apparently Watts is just ready to take some time off from making superhero movies, given that he spent most of the teens making highly successful Spider-Man flicks for Sony*.

So… back to the drawing board on finding a director for Fantastic Four. …Yay. I’m never getting a good F4 flick, am I?

It’s May! And we’re back.

Spent this weekend doing an alumni meetup at my old college. You might be interested to know that I was a founding member of a local coed fraternity, and most of us founders graduated the same years, so a bunch of us all got together for barbecue and general shooting of the breeze. Perfect weather and it was good to see people again, some of whom I haven’t seen in thirty years. And it was nice to be out, you know what I mean? I missed having people around.

PS: Yes, not every aspect of my life has been genially weird. I did normal stuff, too.
