Seriously, I know that now that I’m in my fifties I’m supposed to be overwhelmed by future shock, or whatever the term is. But this isn’t gonna do it. I understand perfectly what happened: some crystaljock jacked some data, sold it to a gonk via a fixer, and now this mediaposter thinks the gonk somehow owns the data and can get away with telling the corpos where to stuff it.
This is not hard. And, at that: it’s barely cyberpunk.
Okay, I tell a lie: I figured out the first paragraph of BUZZ ON THE STREETS.
It’s not the next Tom Vargas novel (now on preorder!). It’s going to be a novella to bridge the gap between TINSEL RAIN and the next novel, so that I won’t have to use a part of the book to reintroduce Lucas. But I just needed to bring him in properly from the start. I think this works:

His face still showed the faint traces of zinc-woad markings, he wore meditation bead-bracelets on both wrists and a whintosser claw pedant around his neck, and his cargo pants were apparently made out of pockets. “No shit, Sherlock,” he replied.

Well, *today* crashed and burned.
Can’t even put my finger on why. Well, actually, I can: the kids have less than a month left of school. They grow… restless.
And I guess I grow restless, too. The idea of not having to wake up at 6:30 AM every morning? Bliss. Almost as much as not having to give impromptu explanations of sixth-grade math because I went into English literature on the understanding that there was to be no math. And certainly no spreadsheets: so many, many spreadsheets. How did people survive, before them?

TINSEL RAIN is back from the editor: and I think that it’s reasonable to release the digital versions of the book now for my Kickstarter backers. Particularly since I want people who backed to get the book before it’s available on Kindle. Which, hopefully, will be Friday. So if you backed, check your emails, and I’m still on track to lock orders to take care of the physical rewards sometime in June. Gotta make sure the physical proofs are okay, after all.
