Glastonbury Camping and Caravan Sites

There’s a lot of choice when it comes to camping around Glastonbury nowadays, so here’s my guide to the sites. Obviously living here I don’t often camp, but I have visited most of these sites so I’ve given my impressions and an indication of pitch prices in High Season to help you decide which one is for you. Do click the links for more info. Glastonbury is increasingly popular, so pre-booking is essential. To find more sites in the wider area see the UKCampsite link at the bottom of the post.

2024 Glastonbury Town Event Dates

There’s always something going on in Glastonbury, even in the depths of Winter. The Celtic Wheel of the Year Festivals are popular times to visit, with themed events and ceremonies in many venues around the town.

In Autumn each year I start compiling next year’s event dates for my Crap Views of the Tor calendar, this being Glastonbury it’s a bit like herding cats! Things are subject to change, so do check with the organisers before making travel or accommodation arrangements. I can’t be held...

Glastonbury’s Community Christmas Meal 2023

For several years the Glastonbury Community has come together to cook a communal Christmas Meal for those who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day. Each year the event has become more popular, gradually outgrowing venues, nowadays it takes place in Glastonbury Town Hall. On Christmas Day 2023, three hundred and sixty people enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Day Lunch, including the sixty volunteers who helped out on the day.

I’m sure anyone who has ever cooked Christmas Dinner will appre...

Christmas Shopping in Glastonbury 2023

Getting here, what’s on, the best of Glastonbury’s Christmas Windows and some shopping suggestions.

Glastonbury is a brilliant place to do your Yuletide shopping, the town is bursting with independent retailers making it the ideal place to buy a unique gift. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not all crystals and joss sticks, you’ll find gifts to please all but the most normal family member here (besides, Clarks Village in Street is only a couple of miles away and is packed with the most normal...

Everything you need to know about Glastonbury’s Christmas Street Market taking place on Saturday 25th NovemberOstensibly it’s a Christmas street market, but actually, it’s so much more. Glastonbury Abbey Under a Stormy Sky

Caring responsibilities have made me an exceedingly dull girl over the last couple of months, so I’m not getting much fresh air and exercise. Yesterday afternoon the sun was out in a blue sky and there was a (probably temporary) respite from the torrential rain that we have been blessed with lately, so I ventured out to the Abbey grounds for a walk. I must have been walking through the wildlife area when the storm clouds began to roll in, as when I emerged from under the trees I was struck by th...

Goodbye to the Mocha Berry Cafe

The End of an Era – Chef Owner Ali of Glastonbury’s Mocha Berry Cafe Retires

I’ve got Joni Mitchell’s song ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ going around and around in my head “Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone”. I rarely know what inspired my earworms, but I know exactly the moment that this one wormed its way into my brain. It was on Friday afternoon, 20th October at 4.30 pm, when I turned up at the Mocha Berry to wish Ali a very happy retirement, after 22 years...

Crap Views of the Tor 2024 Calendar

The best Christmas present ever?

My 2024 ‘Crap Views of Glastonbury Tor’ A3 Calendar is available to buy online, featuring 12 full-colour crap views of Glastonbury Tor and dates of major events in the town. Fun, quirky and practical, it’s only a tenner and makes the ideal gift.

These calendars have proved particularly popular with ‘born and bred’ local families, I think they like the nod to Glastonbury’s industrial past and the absence of fairies and unicorns. However I did hear that one ...
