Death Star excerpt

Jenny is a computer genius and a hacker’s nightmare. While hackers had always been the ones to grab the glory, Jenny found she had a penchant for defense. Death Star (working title) is about her and her job with Dirk Bryce. Cory is her best friend, assistant and companion. This is all about him.

Two weeks later seven members of the element that Taylor had been assigned in his SEAL platoon were sitting in a dive bar in Virginia Beach.  The guys he fought with and trained with were all st...

Excerpt of New Life

New Life is the working title of the story of Tom Swanson. After an attempt is made on his wife’s life, he decides that the business of destroying drug and weapons traffickers isn’t worth it. Along with his son, he escapes and builds a new life. But the old comes screaming back with a vengeance. This is the first part of the first chapter, and like any unpublished piece… subject to change.

Helena Swanson pulled out of the garage of the family cabin.  As she pulled away from the house, t...

Kindle Unlimited

Like cable TV, but for books

If you aren’t familiar with Kindle Unlimited (KU), it is a “free-to-read” program from Amazon for use on Kindle devices and apps. The short form is that there are a pile of books… a pretty big pile… that are free for subscribers to read through Kindle. It is a monthly subscription service, currently priced at $9.99/mo. There are usually deals for new subscribers.

Books may be priced anywhere $2.99 and up, depending on the whims of the author. I price mine...

Triple Cross excerpt

Triple Cross was my first non-Dixon-Prince novel. I was actually working on Grafton, but had hit a hard stop and couldn’t advance the story. Taking a break, I started writing this one and it just poured out. A couple of Dixon-Prince characters do make appearances, but they are near the end… and Ellen Stewart, who will be a regular in the Dixon-Prince series, makes her first appearance here. I hope you enjoy the excerpt and check it out on Amazon.

The prisoner transport van rolled through ...

Unknown Caller excerpt

The latest book in the Dixon-Prince saga is Unknown Caller. Jack gets a call from an old girlfriend which sets in motion another action-packed adventure. This story revolves more about Jack and Amy’s son, Colt. Nancy, Jack’s first girlfriend, is on the run because of the actions of her ex-husband. And she still carries a torch for Jack, and has since they were teenagers. The excerpt gives us a glimpse into Greg Green, Nancy’s ex-husband.

Greg ran across the base, sticking to shadows.  ...

Reviews are Our Friends

As I’ve said, writing a book is easy… at least in comparison. A bigger challenge is selling the book after it’s written. As you likely know, I generally promo my books or this blog almost every day. And the reason I promo the blog is to promo the books.

Shameless plug for my Author Page

Read MoreAnd then, if we are lucky enough to get a couple of books sold, the next challenge is getting reviews. According to everything I am finding out there on the interwebs, 1-5% is about right...

Grafton excerpt

The fifth book in the Dixon-Prince saga is all about the Graftons – Gunny, Melody and a new character, Mali. This particular novella, Hostage Situation, is all about Gunny. Some of out other favorites make appearances, but the story revolves around Gunny taking on a substitute teaching assignment in a school that has a bad reputation. In this clip, Gunny and Melody attend a family cook-out with one of the student’s families and Gunny finds a comrade.

Gunny and Melody knocked softly on th...

Who, What, When, Why? excerpt

This is an excerpt from the novella The Soldier in Who, What, When, Why?, the 4th book on the Dixon-Prince series. It tells Rolf’s story. If you read the other books, you might remember Rolf as Nicole’s love interest… the exchange student from Germany. He didn’t leave the series at the end of his senior year after graduation. And life wasn’t easy for him. This story catches us up on Rolf’s journey from high school graduate to the man that sought out Nicole in You Don’t Know Jack. I hope yo...

Some Book Excerpts

You might have noticed last week and this, I have posted up a few book excerpts from my catalog. It’s odd to think that I have a catalog of books now, but I do. I have 8 that have been published so far, and more in the works. Just when I think I am done, a new favorite story come out of me and needs writing down.

As I was finishing the promo for Lies and Omissions, I had put up an excerpt, and then decided to go through all eight books… so, for the last two weeks, and the next two weeks,...

You Don’t Know Jack excerpt

You Don’t Know Jack was my third book, and the third published in the Dixon-Prince series. I had actually written most of Who, What, When, Why? before writing You Don’t Know Jack, but ended up having the inspiration for Jack’s adventure in the book. There was also a question of whether Rolf’s story or Nicole’s story was going to make the final cut for this; the other going to WWWW. It ended up coming down to length. There was not enough to Rolf’s story, and I already had a lot in the other b...
