13 Things that Begin with “Q”
I have put this blog post off for a long time now because finding 13 things in my life that begin with the letter Q is difficult, to say the least. But I’ve decided to give it a shot. Let’s see how many I can get legitimately and how far I have to stretch to get there:
Here they are in no particular order:
[image error]1: Quaker Oats: Or any other brand of hot oat cereal for that matter. I cannot eat it. I never could. When I was a kid, just the thought of oatmeal made me gag. For the record, I feel the...

I Do It Every Time — #MFRWauthor
Several years ago, early in my career, one of my editors told me I was an exceptionally clean writer. I loved hearing that and have tried since then to live up to that fallacy. I am almost obsessive about making sure my conflict is two-sided, my character motivation clear and strong, and all the logic flaws identified and removed before I’ll submit anything to an editor. and yet, even with my best efforts, there are things I do wrong in every single book.
This week’s prompt from the MFRWautho...

Nothing Wrong With a Good Binge! #MFRWauthor
I’m not one of those people who turns my nose up at TV. I freely confess that I love a good story, no matter how it’s delivered. I happen to enjoy TV. A lot.
Go ahead. Judge me. I’ll wait.
This week’s blog prompt is to write about those shows we love to binge-watch. This is difficult for me because I could binge-watch most of my favorite shows. I can’t possibly list them all, so I’ll just have to discuss those I’ve actually binge-watched lately.
Here they are, in no particular order:

News about my latest releases
Great news! Dead on Arrival, the first book in a brand-new mystery series, is now available for pre=order on amazon.com. The book is scheduled for release on February 15, 2017, and I’m very excited about it. This book has been in the works for a long, long time — at least 15 years.
[image error]I wasn’t writing actively that whole time, but when I wasn’t actually working on it, I was thinking about it. The book has taken several different incarnations over the years. It wasn’t until 2009 that I met Kat Mu...

It’s Not Easy Being a Writer’s Kid #MFRWauthor
I started writing seriously when my youngest daughter was five years old. There’s a 12-year age difference between my oldest and my youngest, but even with that many years between them, my oldest was just 17. I’ve been a single mom for most of my kids’ lives, so when I decided to start writing seriously, it had a major impact on my kids–especially since I was also working a stressful job that required around 60 hours a week from me.
Even so, my kids encouraged me to write. They knew it’s what...

I Simply Remember …#MFRWauthor
This morning, while my daughter was getting ready for work this morning, I heard the sounds of Julie Andrews singing about her favorite things streaming from my daughter’s bedroom. So when I got online this morning and discovered the blogging challenge on MFRW.orgwith last week’s prompt of Favorite Things, I decided it must be a sign.
That, of course, got me thinking about my favorite things, which is actually a more difficult topic than one might think.I don’t know if it’s adulthood in gener...

8 Things on My Wish List
Okay, this is random, but it’s almost Christmas so I thought I’d take a look at my wish list and see what’s on it. Here are 8 items on my list in no particular order:
[image error]r. I saw this charm bracelet one day while I was hanging out on Twitter and saved it to my wish list. Some day I’d love to have a charm bracelet with the covers of all my books as the charms. I think that would be cool. I tried doing something like this years ago picking charms that represented each book, but soon got lost and c...

13 Things that Begin with “P”
Posting this early since Thursday is a holiday here in the US…
13 things in my world that begin with “P” in no particular order:
1) Piano — Years ago, before my dad died, my parents wanted to give me a gift so I could remember them — because, you know, without a gift one is likely to forget their parents. Anyway, that’s how I got my piano, which is the inanimate object in my house I care about the most. My mom was a piano teacher for years and years, so naturally I learned how to play the pia...

13 Things That Begin With “O”
13 things from my world that begin with “O” in no particular order:
1) Office Supplies: Like many writers, I have a thing for office supplies. I love them. They spark my imagination. I love the feel of a good pen in my hand, but my love of all things office supply extends beyond that. Over the years I’ve accumulated many treasures, like colorful paper clips and butterfly clips with flower designs instead of the traditional black. There’s no way to estimate the value of a huge stack of sticky...

Pumpkin Spice Truffles
I shared this recipe last year on Sammi Carter’s (now retired) blog, but for those of you who haven’t seen it, I decided to share it again because it’s almost Halloween, and Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. I found this recipe on About.com and thought these truffles were so cute, I couldn’t resist sharing.

The recipe says that they’re“bursting with flavor from pumpkin puree, cream cheese, cinnamon graham crackers, and plenty of spices.” The cream che...
