Happy (bleak) June 1st!

Can you believe we're halfway through the year, and in the last month of our financial year? Yikes! The months are moving too fast. Sometimes it's hard to keep up. Like, we totally forgot to change our calendars last night... lol.

Anyway. It's winter now, and the weather in Sydney is behaving that way. It's dark, cold, and although it hasn't rained today, it still looks like it could at any moment. At least I didn't get totally drenched this morning during my walk by the river, which is what h...

Rain, rain, go away!

Firstly, I gotta say: I really like this girl's skirt! But then, I love just about anything with skulls on it. :)
As you can probably guess, it's been raining nonstop here in Sydney. Which always sucks. It was so dark yesterday that it felt like night all day long. Now, that totally sucks! And it's not even winter yet. :/
Anyway. I spent most of yesterday napping, and reading. We've been so tired lately, and haven't had enough sleep for about a week. I think your body can take so much before...

HEXBOUND by Chloe Neill

They say absolute power corrupts absolutely. But it turns out even a little bit of magic can turn you to the dark side. That's why Lily has to learn how to control her newly discovered abilities and quickly, on top of avoiding the snobs who think they run her school, nursing a crush on a cute sophomore with a big, werewolfy secret and fighting the good fight with her best friend Scout as they take on Chicago's nastiest nightlife - including the tainted magic users known as the Reapers.
All...

WARM BODIES by Isaac Marion

R is a young man with an existential crisis–he is a zombie. He shuffles through an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He has no memories, noidentity, and no pulse, but he has dreams.
After experiencing a teenage boy's memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that...

Sometimes, zombies want more than just brains...

I love this zombie dude. He's just so darn cute. And funny.
I've been in one of those craving-zombie-books-kinda mood lately. So I couldn't put it off any longer. Yesterday, I grabbed one off my bookshelf. It's called WARM BODIES by Isaac Marion.
So far, it's an amazing take on the whole zombie apocalypse thing, and I'm loving it. It's also very well written, and in the POV of an actual zombie. His name is R, and although he can't remember his past life and can't really string a conversation t...

Thursday, huh?

Remember how I mentioned yesterday that my daughter was taking part in the Girls Paul Kelly Cup for AFL/Auskick? I was worried because she was going to be super cold in the wind, right? Well, as it turns out, it was cancelled. The field was wet and the wind concerned the teachers.
While I'm glad that it was cancelled for very good reasons, it would've been nice to know beforehand. O_o
Anyway, look what's showing up over at the Eternal Press website! Isn't it pretty? I love this cover so much. ...

HOUNDED by Kevin Hearne

Atticus O'Sullivan has been running for two thousand years and he's a bit tired of it. After he stole a magical sword from the Tuatha Dé Danann (those who became the Sidhe or the Fae) in a first century battle, some of them were furious and gave chase, and some were secretly amused that a Druid had the cheek to defy them. As the centuries passed and Atticus remained an annoyingly long-lived fugitive, those who were furious only grew more so, while others began to aid him in secret.
Now he's...

It's cold outside!

After enjoying some mild and very sunny days lately, a sudden change in the weather is a rude shock! Yesterday, out of nowhere, a lovely morning turned into a yucky afternoon. And this morning, it's super cold and windy. At least it's not raining anymore. :/

I feel bad for my daughter, because today she's taking part in the Girls Paul Kelly Cup (AFL/Auskick) and has to be outside all day. Her team made it to the regional finals, which is super cool since the boy's team didn't, lol. I hope...

Good morning!

In spite of a very late night--hubby and I got caught up in watching Q&A because it turned out to be a very interesting episode--and feeling like crap when I opened my eyes at 5AM this morning, I now feel refreshed.
Why? Well, I just finished a yoga workout. For some reason, as hard as the workout is, I always feel more energetic after it. It's awesome. :)
I got off to an early start in my latest revision, too. I got halfway through the novella yesterday and reached page 64/114 first thing...

New Week, New Goal...

Hey! How's everyone doing today?
Can you believe we made it past 6pm, Saturday night? ;) Seriously, the idiot who stirred up so much crap about the world ending this past weekend should go into hiding. What a tool!
Oh well. It made for some very entertaining and funny tweets. lol. :D
What have you got planned for this week? I'm going to lose myself in the revision I mentioned last week. It's for a novella with 114 pages. I made a bunch of changes to it last week and now want to read it from...
