Redheads and Hotheads
Thanks to everyone who commented on the great hair debate of 2009. Here’s the thing, I can’t resist a dare. But that competitive side of me is always in battle with my practical side. Dyeing hair black is not an easily reversible proposition. If it doesn’t look good, you have to either bleach your hair before you can dye it again or you have to let it grow out. I’m all for dares, but I’m not in favor of ruining my hair to win one. Thus, I decided a compromise was in order.
In person, this color

Wednesday O’ Doom!
Busy, busy Wednesday today, people.
Don’t forget I’m over at Bitten By Books all day today. In addition to them posting a video interview (vinterview?) with me, I’ll be answering questions in comments and giving away prizes. The grand daddy of all prizes is a red iPod Nano. There’s lots of chances to win, so head on by and say hi.

In other news, apparently I’m about to get a pretty radical makeover. The gauntlet has be thrown at the League, and

Ren Faires, Broken Desks and Contests
The Wells family had a rare weekend with zero plans. So what did we do? We filled it up with plans.
Saturday was errand day. Mr. Jaye and Spawn both play hockey and a local store was having a huge sale of gear. While they hit that, I went to the mall to find shoes for our upcoming trip to Italy. I found two pairs of comfy and cute shoes–black flats and a pair of Ecco sandals–which fit the bill nicely.
Sunday, we were woken earlyish by Spawn, who insisted we get out of bed to see a picture he’d dr

Urban Muse
First, let me say New york was an absolute blast. Hard to complain about a trip that involved amazing people, great food and many delicious drinks (if you get a chance, the Bohemian martini at Pravda is excellent). Meeting my agent and the people at Orbit was just very, very cool. I also got to meet up with Sean Ferrell, Jackie Kessler, Anton Strout and Ron Hogan for drinks one night, which was a blast. I also got to hang with Heather Osborn, who I first met at RT. She’s awesome and hilarious.

New York
I’m leaving tomorrow for a six-day trip to New York. I’m excited about this trip for a lot of reasons. This will be the first time I get to meet Agent J and the folks at Orbit in person. It’ll be nice to know these people as more than spectral voices on the telephone. I also have a happy hour planned with some writer friends, most of whom I’m meeting for the first time in person. Plus, my best friend is putting me up for the week, and I’m really looking forward to having some girl time. It shou

Big Ass RT Recap
Let me start by saying, RT was amazing. Five, nineteen-hour days of chatting with cool people about books is pretty much my idea of heaven. The hotel in Orlando was pretty cool, despite the fact there was a ton more walking required than your average conference (note to self: next year don’t even think about packing heels). This was my first RT, and I have to say I’m seriously considering making this convention my annual must-do. A huge thanks to Kathryn Faulk and the rest of the RT staff for th

I.O.U.
I owe you a wrap-up post from Romantic Times. It’s coming once the alcohol flushes from my system and I sleep more sleep of the dead. That is all.

News and RT Schedule
I got some uber-exciting news yesterday: Red-Headed Stepchild has gone back for a second printing! A big thanks to everyone who’s bought it so far. As you all know, the sales in the first few weeks are crucial, and I’m so thrilled people are loving Sabina and the gang.
As I mentioned earlier this week, I’m heading out for the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention on Tuesday. I probably won’t be around much between now and then as I finish up Mage in Black to send to my editrix and get ready to go

Monday Stuff
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice Easter. We’re pretty much heathens around Casa de Wells, but Spawn enjoyed his basket filled with candy and toys. After that, we headed to my mom’s for brunch. My mother makes this amazing egg casserole with green chilies and cheese. Add some ham and a fruit salad and you’ve got yourself a recipe for nom-age. Then it was home for a nap (nomming makes me sleepy) and the hanging of our new ceiling fan. Nothing but nonstop excitement, I tells ya.
