Ilchi Lee’s Brain Wave Vibration Method for Not Giving Up on Yourself

You may have heard, and I have often written, that if you really want to love, heal, encourage, (or anything) yourself, you first have to connect to yourself. The deepest, most vital time I’ve spent connecting to myself is when I’m feeling the energy flowing in my body.

This is such an amazing feeling. In such a state, I not only sense myself but feel bigger than my body, than my normal senses. My awareness expands to encompass the whole universe.

From that perspective, nothing is impossible, or rather, everything is possible. That perspective is bigger than my doubt or fear or individual experience.

Everything Is Energy

Our thoughts and emotions are energy, and while they can be positive and grand, they are also easily changeable and subject to our ego and smallest desires. But our deeper energy is not.

The energy of what I call the soul, or true self, can be strong or weak, big or small, but it essentially does not change. Whether our bodies live or die, it’s the same pure essence.

We can rely on this.

When our words fail us. When our actions fail us. When the people around us seem to fail us. When the world looks like it’s failing, we can rely on our soul. And our soul is the “me” that I shouldn’t give up on.

Through the energy of our soul strengthening and brightening enough to rise to meet the divine energy in our brain, we can access greater knowledge and potential. We can see the bigger picture and connect it to our personal goals.

We can always rely on our soul, which rests in our body.

Vibrate to Change Your Energy

One relatively simple way to start strengthening and brightening the energy of our soul is through vibration.

Energy has and makes vibration. People can purposely vibrate their energy to change its quality. Vibration can make stuck energy flow so that the energy of the body can become clearer and brighter.

Vibration also helps focuses the mind. Like a magnifying glass gathering the light of the sun to one spot, the mind gathers energy to wherever its focused, strengthening the energy in that area.

We commonly make vibrations with rhythmic tapping, pressing, shaking, and sound. I even made a method for it called Brain Wave Vibration.

Try This Brain Wave Vibration Sequence

If you’re feeling discouraged, overwhelmed, depressed, or just sick and tired, try this sequence of vibrating and feeling and “dancing” with your energy.

It lets you shake off heaviness and negativity and connect with the joy of living that you feel when you’re in touch with your true self. It will remind you that your current thoughts and emotions, regardless of how they were triggered, are not who you are but are simply part of your ever-changing energy state. So rather than continuing down the path they seem to point to, shake up the status quo and change your energy with Brain Wave Vibration.

Do this training sequence without or with percussion music to help you vibrate.

Vibration

Stand or sit with your back straight. Close your eyes and look down inside yourself for a few moments.
Make relaxed fists with your hands and use the pinky end to tap your belly two inches below your navel. Alternate both hands and tap repeatedly in a steady rhythm. Keep your arms, shoulders, and abdomen relaxed. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth, releasing your tension.
After a couple of minutes, or at least 100 taps, continue to tap as you begin to shake your head left and right gently, as if you were saying, “No.” Let your neck and shoulders relax further.
Then let your head move naturally in any direction, such as side to side, forward and back, or in a figure eight. Keep your awareness on the sensations in your body and keep inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth without forcing it.
When you loosen even more, stop tapping and start shaking your entire body. You can do this in any position and can change your position as you shake. Make every part of your body vibrate as you continue to exhale your tension and old energy from your mouth. At first, you need to vibrate your body consciously and deliberately this way. But the more you shake, the more your brain will go into a relaxed, meditative state, and you’ll be able to experience subtle involuntary vibrations.

Energy Dancing

Calming even more, feel your body as you transition from shaking to letting your body move in any way it wants. Surrender control to your body, which instinctively knows how to move to get what it needs. You can make big or small, soft or strong movements. Move without judgment or analysis. The sensations you feel inside indicate energy moving in your body. You are dancing to your energy.
Keep going until you feel bright, free, joyful, loving–all the emotions you didn’t think you could feel easily before.
Then finish by spending a few minutes in a relaxed posture, sitting or lying down, with your back and neck straight. Focus inside your lower abdomen, beneath where you tapped initially. Feel your lower abdomen rising with each inhale and lowering with each exhale. Keep your mouth closed to gather energy in the energy center in your lower abdomen and make Water Up, Fire Down energy circulation in your body (more on that here). Having and maintaining this circulation is important for staying bright, energized, and empowered.

What were you able to feel during this Brain Wave Vibration sequence? Do you feel better able to move forward and to create your own life?

Your own body is the best tool for knowing, healing, and creating yourself. Vibrate your body mindfully to return to who you really are whenever you want to give up.

What If You Practiced Radical Gratitude?

[Photo by vadymvdrobot via Envato Elements]

When something amazing or unexpectedly good happens, we tend to be grateful automatically. Sometimes, though, gratitude can take some work. I think being truly grateful includes being thankful even in very difficult, unfortunate circumstances.

If someone brought you misfortune, wouldn’t they be shocked when you’re grateful for it? “Something must be wrong here,” they’d think, taking another look at their list. “There must have been a problem with the delivery.” And they’d go somewhere else, saying, “This misfortune wasn’t meant for you.”

Feeling gratitude amid misfortune is easier said than done. But it’s much more beneficial and advantageous for you.

Maybe you’ve experienced that after a difficult time passed, you were able to see it more clearly. Amid misfortune and distress, we have a chance to understand life’s meaning more deeply and achieve more inner growth.

So, when faced with a difficult situation, why not accept it gratefully as a problem you’ve been given to solve? Within genuine gratitude, our souls put down deep roots and grow.

[Video] Live and Die by Water Up, Fire Down

One of the natural ways qi energy circulates is by “water” energy going up and “fire” energy going down. You see this in trees, in our bodies, in the patterns of weather, and many other parts of nature. Winter, spring, summer, and fall . . . birth, aging, and death . . . all are reflected in this principle of Water Up, Fire Down.

When you understand this principle, you can live in harmony with natural laws. You can be full of life and meet death with composure.

Watch this video to learn how to see life from a Water Up, Fire Down perspective.

Apologize to Your Soul to Take Back the Reins Your Life

Woman with green-tipped hair and bright pink jacket meditating against a gray wall

[Photo by twenty20photos via Envato Elements]

Who made you who you are now and your present environment?

You did.

You have created it through and through. Although you may not have been aware of it, you chose it and created it.

Thinking that everything is your responsibility is ownership consciousness and creation consciousness. Step into this consciousness by accepting you have created your life with a very humble heart, thinking, “It’s my responsibility.” With this consciousness, there’s no reason to resent anyone or make any excuses.

When you have awakened to this, you can go on to the next stage. You can begin anew from that awareness, from a consciousness that says, “I am the master of my life, and I made me who I am now.”

How can you embrace this consciousness and accept the power and responsibility you have over your life? Connect with your soul in your heart—your true self.

Your soul may feel abstract and far away, but actually, it’s right there in your chest, existing as pure, bright energy. Look at your soul in your chest with your mind’s eye and feel inside your chest with your inner sense. If your soul feels wounded, or if the burden of past trauma or disappointment is overwhelming it, apologize. Tell it, “I’m sorry! I did this to you!” To commune with your soul, truly repent. Only then will you grow closer to your soul.

After you have truly repented, you come to have gratitude for everything around you. You change from resentment to thankfulness. You have not truly repented unless you develop gratitude.

Nothing but gratitude and love can awaken the soul. Love alone heals and restores all things. There is no energy greater than love.

Ilchi Lee’s 3 Easy Energy Hacks for Managing Your Stress Every Day that You Can Start Right Now

older woman meditating in her home office

[Photo by seventyfourimages via Envato Elements]

We can’t get away from stress and avoiding stress altogether can lead to a stifled life, but we can manage stress so that it doesn’t take over our health and well-being. In the ocean of stress management advice out there, I’d like to offer you a life raft made of ways to manage your stress based on the energy principles of traditional Asian medicine.

What Does Stress Mean for My Energy?

Stress stops up our energy flow and turns it upside down. Ideally, the natural energy that animates our bodies flows through our energy system softly and smoothly. When we’re stressed though, our bodies tense, our breathing becomes shallow, and we tend to think a lot. We especially feel tense in our neck, shoulders, chest, and abdomen.

This tension is reflected in our energy flow. Ideally, we have what’s called Water Up, Fire Down energy flow: warm “fire” energy flows down the front of our body (Conception Vessel meridian/energy channel) and cool “water” energy flows up the back of our body (Governing Vessel meridian/energy channel). But the tension in our chest keeps the fire energy from going down and the water energy from going up. Instead, the fire energy goes up, pooling in our head, making us think even more and leaving us unfocused.

In this state of mind, it’s harder to deal with stressful situations, compounding the problem. Our tendency to ruminate when we are faced with stressful issues, especially ongoing issues, also adds fuel to the fire in our heads. We become easy to anger or upset, or “hot-headed.”

A lot of stress and thinking also weakens the powerful energy center in our lower abdomen. This energy center, found between our hips, keeps the cycle of Water Up, Fire Down moving. It helps pull down fire energy and push up water energy. Especially if we’re sedentary or don’t eat and sleep well, this center lacks enough energy to do its job. As a result, the inside and outside of our abdomen becomes cold and stiff, both physically and energetically. Without the proverbial “fire in our belly,” it’s hard to have the motivation, willpower, and energy to handle our stress.

Stress Management Energy Exercises

Managing stress involves both relieving current stress and making yourself resilient to future stress. You can do this by changing your energy state to a Water Up, Fire Down state with a strong lower energy center. With strong, flowing, clear energy, you can relax into stressful situations and clearly see your way through them.

Relax and open your chest

Exercise 1: Use your fingertips or fist to tap along the midline of the front of your body from your collar bone to belly button. Tap in a steady rhythm, while you inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Close your eyes and relax into the rhythm as you feel the vibrations in your body.

Exercise 2: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart with feet parallel to each other. Bend your knees slightly and raise your arms to shoulder height with your elbows bent 90 degrees. Twist your waist from side to side while looking ahead, keeping your upper arms in one line from elbow to elbow. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth as you twist. Focus on the feeling of your torso twisting.
Strengthen your lower energy center

Exercise 1: With your feet shoulder-width apart and parallel to each other, bend your knees slightly and use the pinky side of your fists to tap two inches below your navel. Alternate your hands. Relax into the vibration as you inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Focusing your mind on your lower abdomen will help add more energy to the energy center since energy concentrates wherever the mind does.

Exercise 2: Keeping the same posture with your legs, straighten your spine and make a circle with your arms in front of your chest with your shoulders relaxed, elbows slightly down, palms toward your torso, and fingertips pointed toward each other about one hand-length apart. Close your eyes and mouth as you hold this posture for two to five minutes (or more). Concentrate on your lower abdomen to gather energy there.
Release the fire from your head

Exercise 1: Use the tips of your fingers to tap all around your head, face, and neck while exhaling out your mouth. Tap with a steady rhythm as you focus on the vibrations. Do this for one to two minutes, tapping longer on more tense or painful areas.

Exercise 2: Using your thumb, pointer finger, or a blunt tool, press around your head to locate painful spots. On the painful spots you find, press and rub in a tight circular motion for a minute or until the pain goes away (BHP Energy Healing).

These simple exercises can be done whenever you feel stressed, as well as on a daily basis to help you be resilient to stress. You can do all of the exercises, or pick one to three that work best for you. Use them before bed to take off the day’s tension and sleep more soundly.

Rather than stress looming large in your life, draining you of energy and motivation, think of stress as an upside down energy state you can easily turn around anytime.

The Power of Love and Devotion

young pig at Earth Farm

Lucky the Pig

Each of us is a precious, precious being. That’s how I feel about everyone I meet. They feel like a destined connection that I was meant to have. Even the chickens, goats, cows, and cats we have here at the Earth Farm in New Zealand are precious, and the flowers are also precious.

That’s why when one of our pigs, whom I call Lucky, ate a poisonous plant and couldn’t get up, I was determined to save him. The veterinary hospital and other people who saw Lucky said that he would likely die, and so he should be euthanized to reduce his suffering. But I couldn’t just give up on him like that when he was a precious life that had come to me.

I decided that I would pour out all my devotion and do my best all the way to the end with love. I used BHP Energy Healing and detox acupuncture and gave him water and formula. I bathed him and kept stimulating his brain. After one day, Lucky was able to get up, but he was weak and walked with difficulty. With time and effort, Lucky got stronger. Now when I come to see him, he comes out and greets me, and we go for walks together too. This is what you can do with love and the natural health methods of Brain Education.

Like Lucky, many of us are going through a difficult time right now. We may be sick, or many of the things we have been trying to build have slowed down or ended altogether. But if I think about it, especially when I have a big dream, there weren’t any times that weren’t hard. But I was able to endure and persevere thanks to the help of all the precious people around me, all the ones who shared my dream and pursued it together.

Right now, COVID-19 and the financial hardships that have come with it are a crisis and also a chance to be real and authentic. When times are tough like this, what’s real and what’s fake are meant to naturally be exposed. It just naturally comes to the surface.

I firmly believe that the two keys with which we can overcome this crisis and opportunity are love and togetherness. If we come together with love, we can do anything. But these keys can only work with our genuineness and devotion.

Now is our chance to show this. It’s a time for people in each country, and people in different countries, to work together to solve humanity’s problems with compassion, gratitude, and love. That includes love of self, love of family, love of nation, and love of Earth. We can save each other by not giving up on each other.

Each of us is a precious being. We each have value that cannot be measured, and we each have limitless potential. We can recognize it in ourselves first, take care of ourselves, and then take care of others. We can be grateful and happy about the little things, and we can make ourselves brighter so that we shine the light of love out to the world.

If You Let Go, You’ll Be OK

woman holding many balloons

[Photo by NomadSoul1 via Envato Elements]

“I’m a certain way, and I’m a certain kind of person.”

Don’t be bound to such things. Let go, and you become a free soul.

Your heart will sink often if you think too heavily about the meaning of your existence. But you are able to float in the water once you relax.

Become lighter and lighter. Let go of the ego and attachments you’ve been clinging to and rely on the massive ocean of life energy.

Then, not only will you be free, but you will be supported. And whether you’re someone who is healthy or who is facing death the next day, you can be truly grateful for the life you’ve been given.

Another Meaning of Corona

light of the sun making a corona around the earth

[Photo by goinyk via Envato Elements]

The dictionary says one meaning of the word “corona” is “a white or colored circle or set of concentric circles of light seen around a luminous body, especially around the sun or moon.”

Although the coronavirus is causing so much suffering around the whole world, it’s also shedding light on the darkness of selfishness and greed that can exist in human beings. The earth has become sick because of this darkness, and COVID-19 may be a desperate, serious signal to let humankind know about it.

But while human beings have darkness, they also have bright light. Their true selves have the brightness of a million degrees. With meditation and body-brain exercises, we can accept and clear out the dark energy of selfishness and greed. In its place, we’ll meet the light of the spirit of Hongik.

While humans have darkness, their true selves are a light with the heat of a million degrees.

The definition of Hongik is “widely benefiting.” I believe that Hongik can be expressed in three ways. The first, is love; the second, is health; and the third, is peace. Our true selves are a love without bounds, the natural healing power of our bodies and minds, and the deepest inner peace.

It’s human beings that bring light to the world when we choose to express our innate love, health, and peace. For even the small ways we do this for ourselves and others, we can be grateful. Gratitude is the fuel of Hongik and the fuel of our true selves. In what ways are you acting in the spirit of Hongik today?

How to Choose Joy

happy middle aged woman

[Photo by bernardbodo via Envato Elements]

Have you ever had a feeling of deep inner joy? Or have you always had an underlying sense of dissatisfaction? The moments we feel deep joy often come from the feeling of life itself—from the quiet moments with ourselves, our loved ones, or with nature. Immersed in our busy daily lives, however, we may forget that and instead of joy, look for momentary jolts of pleasure in superficial interactions, endless media, or material goods and goals.

As you may know, it’s hard to endure a life without joy and satisfaction. The more joyless days we have, the more life feels like we’re dragging a stone up a mountain, only to see it tumble down again. This takes a toll on our psyche, our bodies, and even our energy flow, and we gradually lose the inner resources to handle the stressors life will inevitably throw at us.

The flip side of this—having true joy, passion, and vitality—is possible if we make time to meet with the life force within us. If we do this in our daily lives, even amid hardship, we can restore the natural balance not only within ourselves, but in our communities and our planet.

Having true joy, passion, and vitality is possible if we make time to meet with the life force within us.
Click To Tweet

Right now, everything may seem out of balance in the world, but the natural life force inside us has always existed and can never be destroyed. So we can reconnect to it any time. Although there are many methods to do this, we can even recover that connection by quietly sensing the breath entering and leaving our bodies, by moving our bodies vigorously, and by feeling the rhythm of our heartbeats and the pleasant release of the stiffness of our muscles.

Listening to our bodies and awakening our physical senses also wakes up our sense for communicating with nature, because our bodies are nature. We feel nature when we feel our breath and the energy flowing through us. If we feel and love nature inside us, we feel and focus more on nature outside us. By restoring this natural sense, we can use it to design lifestyles that bring joy and satisfaction. Because we are all interconnected, living in a way that allows us to sustain our connection to nature will also help us look after nature.

The year 2020 has been an extraordinary and peculiar time. On a massive scale, we have all been focused on what’s happening in our communities and the world, not just ourselves. What kinds of changes will these experiences bring us? That is one of the choices we are facing. We might continue the same patterns of life we had before and repeat things that dampen our joy or substitute for genuine connection. Or we could create a new lifestyle filled with joy, balance, and connection to others and the earth.

Whatever happens, of this I am certain: the power to create such changes is never found on the outside. It depends on what each of us does, and it starts with the changes we make within ourselves and in our daily lives.

Editor’s Note: To learn about how maintaining Water Up, Fire Down energy flow can bring joy and satisfaction to your life, please check out Ilchi Lee’s new book, Water Up Fire Down: An Energy Principle for Creating Calmness, Clarity, and a Lifetime of Health at WaterUpFireDown.com.
