ForeWord Book Review: Change the World by Working on Ourselves

By the Editor

On October 18, 2013, ForeWord Reviews posted this book review by Kristine Morris of Ilchi Lee’s latest book, Change: Realizing Your Greatest Potential.

Change book by Ilchi Lee“In Change: Realizing Your Greatest Potential, Ilchi Lee, New York Times bestselling author of The Call of Sedona (2012), issues a call that places the power to become all we can be squarely in our own hands.

Lee says his own awakening came after a rigorous retreat on a Korean mountaintop. In a flash, he realized he was not the small, limited self he believed himself to be, but that his mind is cosmic mind and his energy is universal energy. “With that answer,” he writes, “everything else that I needed to know about life fell into place . . . Realizing that I was timeless and changeless gave me a place to stand and a kind of leverage.” Since that day, about thirty-three years ago, the author has made it his life’s work to share what he learned with the world. He has authored thirty-five books and created mind/body trainings that include Dahn Yoga and Brain Education. Lee also serves as president of the University of Brain Education and the International Brain Education Association.

Based in Korean Taoism, Lee’s work reveals simple truths that underlie all authentic spirituality: in order to live an authentic life and experience a feeling of completion at the time of death, it is necessary only to know what you really are, do basic things well, and live with a genuine intention to benefit all—the last of these, Lee affirms, comes effortlessly to all humans once they recover their natural rhythm and balance and allow the subtle energy of life to flow through them. “The most precious discovery,” he writes, “is that we have the natural intention to benefit other people, even strangers, without condition or expectation of return.” With his belief in basic human goodness, Lee offers a solid reason to have hope, both at the personal and planetary levels, even in the darkest of times.

Lee strips away all but the essential and effectively clarifies the difference between absolute values, “those that are given by nature, such as air and water,” and those that are relative, or man-made, such as cultures and social institutions, thus providing an avenue for agreement between adversaries. Seeing ourselves as citizens of planet Earth rather than as members of particular religions, tribes, or nations will, he affirms, eliminate most of the divisive elements that make peace an impossible goal. Because a balanced society can only be built by balanced individuals, Lee provides basic instruction in breathing well, eating well, and sleeping well—simple yet profound tools for personal transformation that can create a ripple effect in the world.

Lee’s plan is to start a movement of one hundred million awakened hearts and minds capable of making conscious and Earth-centered choices that will benefit all. With his heartfelt and well-reasoned book as a guide, the task looks far less daunting, and our own part in it essential.”

Turn Conflict into Fuel

Ilchi-Lee_fuel_300w_20131015_newsletterIf you have a beautiful idea of yourself and the world that you passionately wish were entirely true, it’s natural to doubt whether your idea can become a reality when you try to achieve it, but it doesn’t happen so easily.

I feel conflicted about what I should do and how I should do it every day, because I want to create a new world in which every soul is free to express itself and fly high to reach and connect with the source of life itself.

While I am always checking and agonizing about my goal, I turn my confliction into the fire that keeps me going. It’s not a fire that burns with aggressiveness, impatience, or rage, but a steady flame in my heart and my center. I use the roadblocks I face as fuel to make improvements. And I use them as a chance to choose positivity.

That’s the fun of life.

What would we do without obstacles or conflicts?

Healing Chakras for Change

Ilchi Lee book - Healing ChakrasYou probably have something you’d like to change about yourself. Maybe it’s something on the surface such as your haircut, or maybe it’s something deeply rooted, such as how you respond when someone offends you. Or maybe you just have a vague feeling that something needs to be different, but are not sure where to start.

Change is always occurring, whether we are active agents for it or not, and whether we welcome it or not. Clearly knowing what you want, setting a vision and intention, takes advantage of the ever-present nature of change. It starts you down a particular road in a particular direction and sends energy to your destination, which makes that road wider, clearer, and smoother.

Once you know where you want to go, the next step is evaluating where you are. Are your thoughts and emotions in alignment with what you want? What is the state of your internal energy system? Are all of your seven chakras full and balanced? If they are not what you want them to be, if you are uncomfortable with how they are, then these are the first conditions you need to change to achieve your goal(s).

Your mind has the power to change the state of your chakras. With a simple chakra visualization, you can make your chakras bright and clear. By balancing your chakras and making them full enough with bright, clean energy, you change your thoughts, emotions, and even physical health.

When you first give energy to your chakras with your mind, you may feel the side effects of unhealthy energy releasing from your energy system—negative emotions such as anger, physical symptoms such as headaches or nausea, or mental anguish such as doubt or confusion. However, if you persist and keep clearing and balancing your chakras every day, you will eventually awaken a fervent passion for life and your purpose. You will discover a new you—a person of clarity, connection, and compassion.

After you’ve made your goal and worked on your chakras, the steps and plan you need to reach your destination will be easier to see. Consistent energy practice is also key. Chakra maintenance allows you to access infinite wisdom for making your plans and taking advantage of opportunities (sixth chakra). At the same time, it gives you the motivation and power to carry out your plans and overcome any obstacles (first, second, and third chakras), as well as the courage to break through the fear that traps you from moving forward (fourth chakra). Furthermore, creative ideas flow through you more easily, allowing you to improvise and open up new pathways to your vision (third and sixth chakras).

By taking care of your chakras, you become the change you envision, because everything is connected to your chakras.

A Time of Light

Ilchi-Lee_time-of-light_20131008_enewsletterNow is a time of great change.

It is a time of light.

By transcending selfishness and

the pull of our ego,

we can see a great light.

Living with that energy,

that exists beyond

our thoughts and emotions,

we can be a great light.

It’s something we must choose.

Choose a vision for helping humanity

and making a brighter world,

and you choose happiness.

You bring joy,

and you bring hope.

Now is an era of light.

Let us be the Light.

Time for Change

Change book by Ilchi LeeAre you in a place now where you want to see some changes in your life? Perhaps you want to get in a new exercise program and lose some weight, upgrade your job or career, or restore a broken relationship. Or maybe your feeling some serious concern about the state or direction of the world. global warming, environmental devastation, terrorism, international crises and tensions that could so easily escalate or explode, and you want to do something to change it all.

The desire for change, in ourselves and our world, begins with dissatisfaction about the way things are—a sense that something is wrong or could be better—that the life I am living now is not the life I was meant to live. Maybe what we want is not so much to change, but to realize who we are deep inside, to grow into our true selves, to know ourselves more deeply. Maybe we want to fill a void we sense in our life, as if something real is missing or as if there is a hole in our soul.

It’s only when we go deep down into the very basis of reality, the silent foundation of life, however, that we attain the power and wisdom to create the changes we desire, not only in our individual life, but also in the world. By becoming awakened to what is boundless and unchanging, I found that changes became more natural and easier to produce. Realizing that I was timeless and changeless gave me a place to stand and a kind of leverage.

It is like taking off tinted glasses you’ve been wearing for so long that you’ve forgotten you were wearing them. With the realization of your true self, you become able to see clearly, and to choose which glasses you want to wear and the colors you want to see, while maintaining awareness of the changeless pure light shining through the diverse colors. You become able to create meaning and value and life. The once-gray world starts shining with vibrant energy, and your life is filled with meaning, purpose, and joy.

Beginning a New Change

Ilchi Lee book - Change: Realizing Your Greatest PotentialToday my latest book, Change: Realizing Your Greatest Potential, is officially launched in stores. As I reach this milestone, my mind naturally moves foreword to the next step. How can I reach past the illusion of limitation and lack that many people live with so we can bring forth a better and brighter world together?

I’ve begun to formulate different plans to promote Brain Education and the Earth Citizen concept, but I’d like to take this opportunity to ask you what you will be doing next. What are your goals for the next year, or three years, or ten years? What will you do to achieve them? And how will you keep them alive in your mind and heart?

The success of your goals means the success of my goal. That’s why I do the work that I do and keep designing easier and simpler methods for you to change your energy, which will change your thoughts, words, and actions and generate a positive creation loop in your life.

Beyond your own life and those of your family members, what new world do you want to see? People who have a dream and hope for the world that they want to walk and run and fly to are like golden firebirds that soar up into the azure sky, lighting up the world. They give hopes and dreams to all people.

Even when you feel sad, tired, or lonely, your hopes and dreams still exist inside you at your very center. If you look inside there, you’ll find all possibilities in infinite nothingness. You will also find your deepest, most sincere wish shining as bright as the sun.

Living out that wish is not easy, but it’s the only thing that offers the deepest satisfaction and the only thing that makes your life complete. When you uncover that place inside you and let it shine, you’ll release and experience eternal happiness and joy. The world I dream of is one in which everyone lives and operates from that true happiness and joy.

So let’s be blazing firebirds high in the sky shining hope and dreams for a new world.

In celebration of the release of Change and to give you additional tools for Change, the book’s publisher, Best Life Media, and ChangeYourEnergy.com have teamed up to offer you a free gift and contest. You can go to ChangeYourEnergy.com to enter and find out the details.

Magnetic Meditation . . . It’s Easy. Just Follow the Video

I’ve been talking a lot about meditating with magnets because I’ve found people can focus much more easily and deeply when they use them. Consequently, they not only get the many benefits of meditation, but the magnetic fields of the magnets seem to harmonize and strengthen the magnetic field of their body.

To help more people practice Magnetic Meditation, I made a book and my publisher, Best Life Media, put it in a kit with magnets to go along with it. The creative people at ChangeYourEnergy.com also made this video demonstrating Magnetic Meditation that you can follow with any magnets that you have.

I hope you can use this simple meditation method to get off of the emotional roller coaster of your busy day and take some time to rediscover yourself. Really, it only takes five minutes.

Skip Worry, Just Act

Ilchi Lee - Act Right NowIn order to make wonderful memories, take action.

Without action, you cannot have good memories, good experiences, or growth.

Those who “just do it” know energy and trust in the pervasive presence of divine consciousness. When thinking gets mixed in, action gets diluted and energy doesn’t get supplied to your goals and dreams.

Planning and thinking are two different things. Here, “thinking” refers to needless worries and idle thoughts that take energy for themselves and keep it trapped in an endless cycle that doesn’t go anywhere. Instead, if you make plans and just do it, the insight and awakenings that you need come to you just when you need them.

When you just do it, that’s when energy comes forth.

You become one with LifeParticles,

the purest creation energy of the universe,

and you become one with your dreams.
