Man in the Gutter Interview - Craig

MitG Craig png.png

One of my lifelong friends, Craig reports back on the vagaries of oral hygiene, shatters our drunken veracity record, and lets us all know just how they roll over there in southern Arizona.

Drunk Poem Animation #3 by Grace Brennan, Narrated By Russ Litten

Russ Litten narrates the third in our series of animated drunk poems from A DEEP & GORGEOUS THIRST - UNABRIDGED AUDIO. This time it’s 3 friends trying to understand both petty larceny and whatever the hell it is that Eddie Vedder is saying. Russ and I did a drunken quiz show via Twitter back when the book originally landed, and I’m jazzed to have him read on the audio version.

The atmospheric animation is by Grace Brennan, who can be found at www.gracebrennandesign.com

A DEEP & GORGEOUS THIRST - UNABRIDGED AUDIO will be available on 24 May 2020.

One for the Road with Joseph Ridgwell and Hosho McCreesh

One for the Road w Ridgwell ART.png

A tireless curiosity and a hunger for adventure are two things that Joseph Ridgwell’s entire catalog and A DEEP & GORGEOUS THIRST - UNABRIDGED AUDIO have in common. Joe was nice enough to not only read a few tracks of the forthcoming drunken audio opus, but to also sit down for a free-form chat about his writing and what it was the set him off on the road to begin with. Along the way, we touch on what to do if you’ve done nothing, how to spend £4,000 in 9 days, headhunters, the Beach of the Dead, getting old, international drug trafficking and staying true to who you are, making mistakes, the eternal question, humanity in a nutshell, the Decline of the West, shitting where you eat, the vastness of America, getting out of dry counties, and my hideous face.

Man in the Gutter Interview - Sakesan

MitG Sakesan png.png

Of all the drunk poems Sakesan was involved in, his was a bold and surprising choice for this, the next in our Man in the Gutter Interview series, one that once again touches on just how tenuous the life of a windshield is in this drunken opus.

A DEEP & GORGEOUS THIRST - UNABRIDGED AUDIO lands in your eardrums on 24 May 2020.

Man in the Gutter Interview - Tina

MitG TINA png.png

A perfect 10!

And she gives us a perfect 10 for accuracy too! Yes, next in our Man in the Gutter Interview series Tina recalls the final poem in A DEEP & GORGEOUS THIRST. There’s fireworks, swimming, Wes Anderson slow-mo, Tom Petty, and — I’m not too proud to say — love, and the hard-won redemption that comes with it.

Plus you get to hear her wonderful laugh.

Drunk Poem Animation #2 by Mattia Adorni, Narrated By Chris Oxley

Chris Oxley, who you may know as one of the two madmen behind both Holler Boys and Holler Presents, narrates the second of the animated poems from A DEEP & GORGEOUS THIRST - UNABRIDGED AUDIO, one that drunkenly stumbles on unexpected redemption in the face of tremendous tragedy.

Animation by Mattia Adorni, who is available for hire on Fiverr.

Man in the Gutter Interview - Bastien

MitG Bastien.png

I met Bastien in New Orleans in 1997. He was fresh off a days-long bus ride and he clearly needed some sleep. Instead, we went on a Bourbon Street bender — so, obviously, the friendship was forged in fire from the get-go!

He looks back on both a poem and the impression of it along the shores of Lake Geneva.

Locked Down and Loaded Podcast

Buckle up…

Buckle up…

listen here

From the opening riff of the live intro track, my conversation with Modern Drunkard Magazine’s Frank Kelly Rich and Luke Schmaltz is off and hurtling like a freight train down the line. It shimmied, and shook, threatening to derail…but dammit, the spikes and rivets held, and aside from the sparking wheels shooting occasional cinders, we all managed to keep the boozy chat on course!

It was reminiscent of those fine dive-bar conversations I remember from yesteryear…with a pulse and fire all its own. They said some downright terrific things about A DEEP & GORGEOUS THIRST, and the forthcoming audio before touching on some of the long-term film and fiction projects they’ve been working on.

Did I mention there was drinking? Plus we may well have inadvertently unlocked the whole conspiracy of the Boy Scouts Tote ‘n Chip…so there’s that. Grab a few cold ones and spend some time eavesdropping from the safety of your own comfy locked down spot!

Man in the Gutter Interview - Papa

MitG Papa png.png

As you’ll hear in this episode, Papa is not only a “participant" in a drunk poem, he’s a participant in all drunk poems.

Is it quantum entanglement? Perhaps.
Existence on the astral plane? Who am I to argue?
Living the gospel according to DrunkSkull? 100%!

I mean, I know for a fact he’s at least driven through Tucumcari…

Enjoy!

Drunk Poem Animation #1 by Mattia Adorni, Narrated By Sean Lynch

For the forthcoming release of A DEEP & GORGEOUS THIRST - UNABRIDGED AUDIO here at the HQ we had yet another hair-brained scheme: get a few of the tracks animated. And, by god, they came out great!

Here’s the first of them: Sean Lynch lends his fine Irish brogue to a poem about 2 friends trying to drink 100 shots of cheap beer.

Animation by Italy's own Mattia Adorni (go hire him via Fiverr)

Enjoy!
