Leprechaun Shenanigans @KMNbooks #stpatricksday #recipe #irishtales

Leprechaun Shenanigans

If you’re walking along a wooded path on a moonlit night in spring and hear the tapping of a tiny hammer, you might be lucky to catch a glimpse of an Irish Leprechaun.

According to legend, the leprechaun has a pot of gold hidden somewhere, and he must give up his treasure to the one who catches him. You’ll have to be quick and outsmart the elfin trickster to capture his gold. He’s a sly one, he is. He will try to fool you into looking the other way as he escapes into the forest.

There’s a story where a man made a leprechaun show him where the gold was buried. The man tied a handkerchief to the bush in order to recognize the spot again. He ran home for a shovel, but when he returned on every bush there was a red handkerchief.

What's St. Patrick's Day without soda bread. Here's a recipe for your enjoyment.

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/3 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 egg, lightly beaten

2 cups buttermilk

1/4 cup butter, melted

1/4 cup currants (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and baking soda. Blend egg and buttermilk together, and add all at once to the flour mixture. Mix just until moistened. Stir in butter. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake for 65 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the bread comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

Now that you have your soda bread slathered with butter and a cup of your favorite tea in your hand, an Irish tale would make the day extra magical.
Enjoy and Happy Reading!

Cian MacCarthy, the Lord of Blarney not only possesses the gift of Irish eloquence but he also has visions of the future. He’s waited for Kendra’s arrival, knowing she is his soul mate. Now all he has to do is convince her she belongs at his side.

Can’t escape your past…End of the Road @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

About this snippet: Chapter One (Don't Fear) The Reaper Snippet 12.  Last week snippet is here.

Cecilia is cleaning up after her mother who was having a pity party as she mourned her husband who had died over 23 years ago. She was watching old films and reminiscing. Cecilia was about to put the film reel away, but the projector started on its own.

This story is a WIP. The story is in the very early stages and has not been edited. We're jumping ahead a few paragraphs.

**********************************************************************************************************************

"Come here, darlin'," she heard her father say in a gentle tone, making her pause, making her wonder who he was talking to in that sweet voice despite the deep timber of it, but at the same time, she did know. Then the blonde haired toddler, clothed in pink and yellow flower pajamas, waddled into view with her hands outstretched toward him. It was her younger self, wanting her father to hold her. He put down the microphone he'd been gripping on top of the road box–the same one that sat next to the desk in the present–and sank down on his haunches. As he gathered her into his arms and stood, his face lit up and she'd be hard pressed not to see how much he loved her.
"Give your daddy a kiss goodnight, CeeCee," she heard a woman's voice say, but she stood just out of the screen's shot, but she knew it to be her mother's voice. Cecilia had long outgrown the nickname, CeeCee–dubbed by her father–and no one called her by that name anymore.
Her younger self gave her father a slobbery kiss with a big noisy sound to go with it. Her father chuckled and kissed her cheek with the same over exaggerated sound to go with the kiss. "Love you, sweet thing," he told her younger self.
**********************************************************************************************************************

Nothing like memories coming back to haunt you. lol

Loved to hear your feedback.

Camera rolling, slate, action…End of the Road @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

About this snippet: Chapter One (Don't Fear) The Reaper Snippet 11.  Last week snippet is here.

Cecilia has tucked her mother into bed and has cleared all the mess her mother left behind on the coffee table.

This story is a WIP. The story is in the very early stages and has not been edited. We're jumping ahead a few paragraphs.

**********************************************************************************************************************

She left the full bag beside the couch and strode over to the projector intent on rewinding the reel so she could put it away. Her father had a real passion for film, despite the fact it wasn't all that popular in the 90s when video tape recorders were all the rage. Of course, her father owned a camcorder as well and those videotapes were stored in the library upstairs. His bandmates told her a few stories about her father's dream to be a film director. He used to drive them batty as he followed them around and recorded their every move.
She spotted an empty tin on the edge of the desk and there were other tins stacked on the desk too. It appeared her mother had worked through quite a few reels before ending up with the one loaded on the projector. She reached for reel but as her fingers touched it, the projector turned on with a blast of air that sounded similar to hairdryer and the tick-tick-tick of the film reel added to the machine's antiquated music. Her brows drew together as she stared at the faulty machine in surprise. She reached for the switch to turn it off, but a child's giggle drew her attention and she glanced at the wall where the past had come alive in muted colors and grainy lines.

**********************************************************************************************************************

Can you guess who is the child starring in the home film?

Loved to hear your feedback.

Make-believe or not?… End of the Road @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

About this snippet: Chapter One (Don't Fear) The Reaper Snippet 10.  Last week snippet is here.

Once Cecilia's mother was safely tucked beneath the covers in her bed, she returned to the study with a trash bag, intent on cleaning up the mess before she headed home for the night.

This story is a WIP. The story is in the very early stages and has not been edited. Did a few creative punctuation to end at a good spot.

Time Travel for Love @kmnbooks #ValentinesDay #Blog Hop Feb 6-14 #ASMSG

Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14 and is the day of romantic gestures. People hand out cards and buy chocolates and flowers for the people they love. It's all about the romance, but what if you and your one and only love kept missing each other, or perhaps he or she wasn't even from this century? If given the chance, would you travel back in time to find him or her?
For this Valentine's Day post, I'm focusing on what we would do for love as we explore the possibilities of 'what if'?
From finding a portal to using a time machine or any other method that manipulates time and space, time travel romances have been an appealing notion to many. Who doesn't want to visit medieval Ireland or Scotland or even the wild, wild west? What if you could stop someone from making a life-shaping mistake? The possibilities are endless.

In my time travel tale, Two Worlds Collided, Evie travels back in time from 2007 to 1997 to save Rock Star, Bellamy Lovel from ending his life. A ritual is involved and her essence, not her body, travels along the timeline to a point where she merges with her younger self. Changing the past is not an easy attempt, and changing someone's destiny proves even more of a challenge.
There are rules to time travel. You can't travel back in time to the same event line twice. It's a one-time shot. Everyone has choices, a fork in the road that can lead to two totally different outcomes. Doesn't mean one path will be what you hoped for, but it's an option if you know the other path totally sucks.
To travel back in time to change someone's past, the correct variable must be present to make the time travel a success. Evie had those variables. She had crossed paths with Bellamy when she was young and would have crossed paths with him again, but she'd taken another path. She was supposed to be with him on the final tour where he ended his life. Last, she possesses an item that belonged to Bellamy. She had the anchor to the past and she had an anchor to come back to the present because of her friends that would be waiting for her return.
Sounds easy, right? Well, bad-boy Bellamy doesn't always cooperate with her plans to nudge him in the right direction. Every move she makes doesn't give her a clear picture to what he'll decide in the end.

About Two Worlds Collided:

Evie Reid on a whim agrees to travel back in time to 1997 to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel's path of destruction. She's smart with a college degree, but she is still fan-girl crazy for the rock band, Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy's smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he's destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.

Bellamy isn't keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him, and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.
