China Admits Supply Woes

Chinese state media on Wednesday grudgingly admitted coronavirus lockdowns are causing serious problems with domestic distribution and international shipping, as new data revealed imports unexpectedly collapsed by almost 16 percent last month.
China’s imports grew 15.5 percent in January and February amid worldwide pandemic recovery, and analysts were predicting at least 8 percent growth in March – but instead, they saw a 0.1 percent decline.
“China’s export growth stayed strong in March, but imports collapsed. The weak imports likely reflect the damage from Omicron outbreaks that slowed the flow of goods through major ports in China. As imports in March reflect orders placed in earlier months, this is probably not driven by weakening demand,” Pinpoint Asset Management chief economist Zhang Zhiwei said.
Zhang anticipated weak imports through at least May, possibly with further reductions in April, as “supply-chain disruptions have an adverse impact on industrial production.”
China’s state-run Global Times on Tuesday admitted coronavirus lockdowns are causing “disruptions in logistics and delayed shipments,” although the report sought to minimize the proble …

Russian atrocities fuel new Ukraine aid

The defeat of Russian forces near Kyiv — and the trail of atrocities they left behind — have fueled a Western willingness to provide Ukraine with military aid once thought too provocative and cumbersome for a war Russia was expected to win in weeks. Why it matters: Fears of angering a nuclear-armed Vladimir Putin or undermining peace talks with the Russian president have faded. Most NATO allies are now giving Ukraine whatever it needs to prevail in Act Two: a bloody, protracted battle expected in the eastern Donbas region. The guardrails against triggering World War III have largely fallen — short of providing the air and ground forces President Biden has pledged not to send.In military parlance, it’s called “mission creep.“The big picture: The Biden administration was careful early in the conflict to differentiate between what it called “offensi …

Russia’s War Means Europe Will Spend Big

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Europe is gearing up – The Russian invasion of Ukraine is causing waves through Europe’s security environment galvanizing central and eastern European countries into bolstering their defense, which some had neglected for years. The most notable case is Germany. The European economic powerhouse and NATO member has for decades been under-investing in its defense. German defense spending reached a low of 1.06% of GDP in 2005. Following persistent U.S. calls, Germany’s military expenditure gradually began to rise. However, by 2020 it had only reached 1.4%.The condition of the German military was so deplorable that on February 24, the day of Russia’s invasion, chief of staff of the German army Lt. Gen. Alfons Mais lamented that the army “is standing there more or less empty-handed.”
The options that the army can offer to the German government in support of NATO are “extremely limited” Mais added. The government’s response was swift.
On February 27, German Chancellor Olaf Sholz announced the creation of a special 100-billion-euros fund to additionally support the German military in 2022. This will put it over NATO’s 2% spending target. In contrast, in 2021, Germany had spent 47 billion eur …

Federal Judge Makes Stunning Ruling Against Stacey Abrams

Community Organizer Stacey Abrams is running for Governor of Georgia, and she is not used to taking ‘no’ as an answer to her megalomaniac dreams of controlling the American electorate- at least not the ones who live in the Southern States of America, but one judge is considering doing the unthinkable- and holding her back from her gluttonous pursuit of being the queen of everything in Georgia.
This week, a federal judge said that Georgia state law is clear that Stacey Abrams isn’t the Democratic nominee… CONTINUE»>

FLASHBACK: Biden Admin Downplayed Inflation

White House officials repeatedly claimed that inflation would be “temporary” throughout parts of 2021, pushing back on concerns that it could be a longer-term problem. The reminder comes as Americans continue to struggle with inflation in 2022 – the Department of Labor (DOL) announced Tuesday that March consumer prices soared 8.5%, marking the fastest increase in 40 years.President Joe Biden and his administration have most recently blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for cost increases, dubbing it – particularly prices seen at the pump – “Putin’s Price Hike.” Prior to this, however, the administration sought to downplay inflation, casting it as a temporary issue for many months. (RELATED: ‘Putin’s Gas Price Hike’: Psaki Pins Russia And U.S. Oil Companies For Rising Gas Prices) In July 2021, White House press secretary Jen Psaki argued that the spike in inflation would not be a permanent adjustment, telling reporters “that these impacts are temporary.” “Our message is that we understand the threat that inflation poses. We will be vigilant about any responses needed. It’s important fo …

Hawaii Rep has not voted in person since Jan

Hawaii Rep. Kai Kahele has not voted in person in the House since January, congressional voting statistics show.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the House of Representatives adopted temporary emergency rules permitting members to vote by proxy for the first time in its history. The measure was intended to reduce gathering in a tightly confined space amid the height of the pandemic before vaccines were available to the public. But the rules have yet to be lifted, and some members have turned to proxy voting for reasons other than illness or the risk of infection, and there is no mechanism to enforce limits on members’ reasons for voting by proxy.

Another Company Will Pay for Abortions

Online review and reservation service Yelp will reportedly announce Tuesday that it will cover expenses for employees and their spouses who travel out-of-state to get an abortion. The New York Times reported that the company, which is based in San Francisco, retains more than 4,000 employees. Just over 200 employees work in Texas, which has a law on the books banning abortions after fetal heartbeat detection, which occurs at about six weeks gestation.According to the Times, a Yelp representative said the company’s new abortion policy “benefit extends to employees in other states who might be affected by “current or future action that restricts access to covered reproductive health care.” I’ve covered in recent weeks how more pro-life states, such as Arizona, Florida and Mississippi, have created legislation banning abortion at 15 weeks, which is mainstream in Europe. Other than California, Maryland and Colorado are pushing extreme pro-abortion policies. The Times noted that Yelp’s diversity officer is not concerned how the company’s abortion “program” will be received. Reportedly, the progra …
