White House’s shifting response to abortion protests

The White House has not settled on a message regarding the charged pro-abortion rights protests sparked by the leaked draft Supreme Court opinion overturning the landmark case Roe v. Wade.
The rhetoric shift is reminiscent of the mixed response from President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign to George Floyd’s death, which prompted months of demonstrations, as Biden tries simultaneously to unify the country and motivate the Democratic base before November’s midterm elections.
BIDEN URGED TO STRIKE BETTER BALANCE BETWEEN ASIA AND EUROPE TO COUNTER THREATS
Democrats, such as onetime party consultant Christopher Hahn, anticipated the Supreme Court’s move and have long been candid about their hopes that it will propel Democratic voters to the polls in the fall. But despite angry protesters gathering outside Supreme Court justices’ homes and anti-abortion groups, as well as churches, reporting threats and vandalism, Hahn is adamant the demonstrations “have not crossed any line.”
“Nor do I expect they will,” Hahn, host of the Aggressive Progressive podcast, told the Washington Examiner. “The White House should do whatever they can to keep the passion of pro-choice advocates alive. This is a powerful motivator for progressives heading into the midterms and can limit expected GOP gains.”

LANDRITH: Make No Mistake, Tucker Carlson Won Big In Ohio

The left loves to hate on those who speak truths they’d rather not hear. Elon Musk was once their darling until he came out for free speech. Extremists also hate Tucker Carlson, the popular news and opinion host at Fox News, because he has been particularly effective in pointing out the hypocrisy, inconsistency and outright insanity of the far left. They want his show cancelled and him silenced. They’ve even staged protests at Tucker’s home in hopes of intimidating his family. That is how the left works — notice the recent protests at the homes of Supreme Court justices.Despite all the hate from the left, Tucker Carlson and the ideas he advocates had a very good night this past week in Ohio. One doesn’t have to agree w …

Ukraine war fuels food crisis in distant Africa
By Nelson BanyaHARARE (Reuters) — Zimbabwean security guard Edwin Dapi was already struggling to provide for his wife and four children before a conflict 11,000 km (6,800 miles) away in Ukraine sent global prices for grains, cooking oils, fuel and fertilizer soaring. Now his monthly pay of 18,000 Zimbabwe dollars, worth roughly $55 at the black market rate used at many informal markets, is stretched to breaking point. At a supermarket in Mabvuku, one of the poorest neighbourhoods of the capital Harare, the 46-year-old was fretting over his family’s next meal.He reached for a 2‑litre (0.5 gallon) bottle of vegetable oil, but at 990 Zimbabwean dollars it was more than he could afford. So was a 2 kg (4.4 lb) bag of flour for 390 Zimbabwean dollars.“I keep hearing it’s because of Ukraine, …

NATO decisions expected in Finland, Sweden

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
To join or not to join? The NATO question is coming to a head this week in Finland and Sweden where Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has shattered the long-held belief that remaining outside the military alliance was the best way to avoid trouble with their giant neighbor. If Finland’s president and the governing Social Democrats in both countries come out in favor of accession in the next few days, NATO could soon add two members right on Russia’s doorstep. That would be a historic development for the two Nordic countries: Sweden has avoided military alliances for more than 200 years, while Finland adopted neutrality after being defeated by the Soviet Union in World War II.SWEDEN SAYS IT RECEIVED US SECURITY ASSURANCES IF IT SUBMITS NATO APPLICATIONNATO membership was never seriously considered in Stockholm and Helsinki until Russian forces attacked Ukraine on Feb. 24. Virtually overnight, the conversation in both capitals shifted from “Why should we join?” to “How long does it take?“Along with hard-nos …

China has a new nuclear-powered submarine?

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Satellite images of a Chinese shipyard suggest the country may have developed a new class of nuclear-powered attack submarines, Reuters reported Tuesday. The images clearly show a submarine in dry dock, but shrouds over key areas of the vessel make it difficult to determine whether it is an entirely new class of ship or merely an upgrade to an existing model, according to Reuters. The changes in question relate to adding vertical-launching missile tubes for guided missiles as well as an upgraded propulsion system.CHINESE MILITARY USES TARGET SHAPED LIKE US AIRCRAFT CARRIER IN DESERT, REPORT SAYSThe images were captured at China’s Huludao Port in the Liaoning province. The parts of the ship that would house both the launch tubes and propulsion are covered with what appears to be green tarp. The propulsion upgrade, if applied, would replace traditional spinning propellors with quieter pump-jets, according to Reuters. While the U.S. Navy has long had such vessels, the development would be a new one for China’s burgeoning Navy. The U.S. military has also been monitoring the Chinese military for development of a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine in recent years.CHINESE AMBASSADOR WARNS OF ‘MILITARY CONFLICT’ WITH US OVER TAIWANThe images come at a time of simmering tensions between the U.S. and …

Senate Passes Bill Expanding Protection for Supreme Court Justices

The United States Senate on Monday night rushed through approval for a bill beefing up protection for Supreme Court Justices amid escalating threats against members of the Court and attacks targeting pro-life organizations. As Townhall reported last week, Republican Texas Senator John Cornyn introduced the “Supreme Court Police Parity Act” that expanded protections for Supreme Court Justices and their families while giving Supreme Court Police enhanced abilities in carrying out their protective duties.
