The left targets Musk

Protect Elon Musk.

Ever since Musk announced his intention to buy Twitter, he has faced a barrage of serious attacks.

A hit piece in The New York Times this month sought to tie Musk to apartheid in South Africa, despite Musk having left the country when he was a teenager. The Times got one expert to contend that the country’s lack of “a free exchange of ideas” protected South Africans from “the violent consequences of misinformation.” When you’ve reached the point of arguing that South Africa’s censorship was actually good, you may have gone too far.

Joy Reid, who regularly says crazy things on TV as host of MSNBC’s “The ReidOut,” hit a similar line, saying that Musk “misses the old South Africa in the ’80’s and wants that back.”

Now there’s a story out about an old sexual-harassment allegation, brought forth not by the alleged accuser but by a friend who claims to have knowledge of the harassment. Musk categorically denies the incident took place. He tweeted, “The attacks against me should be viewed through a political le …

MAGA Must Prevail in GOP Fight

The Republican Party has a split personality. On one side are the small donors and committed volunteers who compose the grassroots. These are the people who are real conservatives, engaged and enthusiastic. In recent years, this group has been staunchly in support of President Donald Trump. This is the “MAGA” movement, which wants to “Make America Great Again” and to put “America First.” These activists are the ones who attend Trump rallies and participate on conservative talk radio and contact Congress on critical issues. The other wing of the Republican Party hates these folks. This group is known as the “country club” Republicans, the moderate, establishment wing of the party. This group is represented by the Bush family, U.S. Senator Mitt Romney (R‑UT) and the late U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona. The moderates also are firmly in contro …

MONKEYPOX SPOTTED IN FLORIDA

FORT LAUDERDALE — Health officials are investigating the state’s first presumptive positive case of monkeypox in South Florida.

The Florida Department of Health in Broward County announced Sunday that it and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are conducting epidemiological investigations to determine any possible exposures or offer post-exposure treatment.

The singular case is related to international travel and the person is isolated, a state health department spokesperson said. The CDC will test a specimen for confirmation. No other cases had been identified.

The risk of contracting monkeypox “remains very low to the overall community,” a state health department spokesperson said. If a person has received the smallpox vaccine, the Broward health department said there is “likely cross-protection against monkeypox.”

Harrowing Prison Conditions In Iran Call For UN Action

New credible evidence shows that there are unspeakable crimes and catastrophes taking place in Iranian prisons. The facilities are old and dilapidated, they are overflowing with prisoners, there is physical and psychological torture, and the regime clearly uses all this to intimidate the restive population.Newly released documents obtained from inside the regime’s judiciary reveal a harrowing picture of Iranian prisons. They show that within 277 prisons, the number of actual prisoners is much higher than “nominal capacity” in those prisons. For example, nominal capacity in one of the nation’s largest prisons in the city of Tabriz is 1,500, but the actual number of prisons is 2.5 times higher at 3,788. In the Kurdish region of Sanandaj, the nominal capacity is 290 while the actual number of prisoners is over three times higher at 978.In the city of Karaj, near capital Tehran, the documents show 2,150 beds while the number of prisoners are said to be 7,800, almost quadruple the number of availa …

CNN Anchor Claims Pope Doesn’t Support Pelosi Communion Ban — But That’s Not Quite What He Said | The Daily Wire

CNN anchor Jim Sciutto claimed on Friday that Pope Francis did not support barring pro-abortion politicians like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from receiving Communion in the Catholic Church — but that’s not exactly what Pope Francis has said on the matter.Sciutto shared an article from the San Francisco Chronicle announcing that Archbishop of San Francisco had banned Pelosi from receiving Communion due to her public advocacy for abortion access.Along with the article, Sciutto tweeted, “12 years of Catholic school, altar boy, family deeply involved in our church, and never saw anyone banned from receiving communion. This is a deep fissure in the church — and a position Pope Francis himself doesn’t support.”12 years of Catholic school, altar boy, family deeply involved in our church, and never saw anyone banned from receiving communion. THIS Major U.S. City Declares State of Emergency Amid Baby Formula Shortage

New York City Mayor Eric Adams declared a state of emergency Sunday amid the ongoing nationwide baby formula shortage.

Adams’ office said that the order will give the New York Department of Consumer and Worker Protection the power to prevent price gouging for baby formula, Fox News reports.

What to Do with a Win? – The “Ministry of Truth” Is Paused, Not Cancelled

While Congressional Republicans have been persistently “pouncing” and “seizing” upon the Biden administration’s blunders, it has been a bit since they could claim a win.  Now, in the instance of the Biden administration’s Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) bid to create a Disinformation Governance Board (DGB), the GOP can, indeed, declare victory.  But it is crucial to recognize they have won a skirmish – not even the battle, and certainly not the war to protect free speech against the censorious Left.
As reported by Stephen Dinan of The Washington Times, in “pausing” the creation of what Congressional Republicans, inspired by George Orwell’s writings, labeled the “Ministry of Truth,” the DHS is following tried and (un)true bureaucratic tactics to ultimately accomplish their aim – namely, not only establishing the DGB, but weaponizing it against political opponents and dissidents.

The DHS’s first tactic is to deflect the debate from the issue to an individual; and, that individual being one of their own, the department has tried to paint her as a victim of right-wing disinformation and intimidation.
Early on, it behoov …

Gas Prices Jump 33 Cents in Past 2 Weeks, Some Analysts See $6 per Gallon by August

The average price of regular-grade gasoline spiked 33 cents over the past two weeks to $4.71 per gallon, according to the Lundberg Survey, which comes as some analysts predict prices will climb above $6 a gallon by the end of the summer.Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey said on May 22 that the price jump comes amid higher crude oil costs and tight gasoline supplies.
Nationwide, the highest average price for regular-grade gas was in the San Francisco Bay Area, at $6.20 per gallon, according to the survey, while the lowest average was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at $3.92 per gallon.
Separate data from the American Automobile Association (AAA) showed that, in the week …
