PARIS — It was inevitable that sooner or later, leading European countries would start distancing themselves from the aggressive rhetoric that has been the hallmark of the European Union leadership’s approach to the armed conflict in Ukraine.Last week in Turin, Italian Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio presented a four-point peace plan to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who made contact with Moscow and Kyiv in visits a few weeks ago. Di Maio also chaired the group of Europe’s foreign ministers at a meeting in Turin, including those of other EU countries which have recently shown interest in de-escalating the months-old debacle.Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron has been criticized by Baltic state leaders for even picking up the phone to engage with Russian President Vladimir Putin, while German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was pressured to contribute to the irresponsible flood of weapons into Ukraine and slammed for not being sufficiently enthusiastic about doing so.So now Di Maio has laid out a concrete exit strategy that may already e …

POLICE LINGERED FOR 40 MINUTES

Police stood by for upward of 40 minutes after a gunman stormed into an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday and killed 19 children and two teachers in a classroom, according to a new report.

Investigators are piecing together what happened over the course of the massacre, which ended with a Border Patrol team rushing in and killing the 18-year-old shooter. Witnesses cited by the Associated Press recalled shouting at police to enter the building to save the people inside. One even proposed having bystanders do the job that officers apparently refused to do as they stood outside.

“Let’s just rush in because the cops aren’t doing anything like they are supposed to,” said Javier Cazares. “More could have been done.” Cazares lost his fourth grade daughter, Jacklyn, in the attack. “They were unprepared,” he said.

The first report of an armed man approaching Robb Elementary School came around 11:30 a.m., and the gunman was killed roughly 90 minutes later, just after 1 p.m., state officials said, according to the New York Times.

The Nuclear Threat Advantage

OPINION — The use of nuclear weapons has drawn much questionable talk since Russian President Vladimir Putin began making threats to use them following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
Last Friday, for example, at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Atomic Energy Defense Activities, Sen. James Inhofe (R‑Okla.) opened the session saying, “Putin’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and his reckless threats of nuclear escalation have shattered the security of Europe, and for the first time in decades, forced Americans to face the possibility of a nuclear attack.”
Two days earlier, Rep. Doug Lamborn (R‑Colo.) – before the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee – questioned the Biden administration’s decision to end funding of the 60-year-old B‑83 bomb, whose megaton explosive power was the largest in the current U.S. arsenal. “The hard and deeply buried target set remains a requirement…for U.S. Strategic Command,” Lamborn said. “How does the administration justify removing this capability from our arsenal which will effectively prevent our military from achieving its deterrence requirements?”
Strategic Command’s Adm. Cha …

Trump Reacts To Tragic Mass Shooting In Texas…

UVALDE, Texas—Parents and children gripped each other a little tighter on Tuesday afternoon, knowing they were the lucky ones.

Mayor of Uvalde Don McLaughlin confirmed at 10:30 p.m. local time that 19 children and two adults are confirmed dead in the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

Joe Daniel, a Uvalde resident who lives near the school, said his 8‑year-old daughter was traumatized after the gunman had tried to get into her classroom, but the teacher had locked the door.

Construction workers came racing into his house as they heard gunfire next door. Salvadore Romas allegedly shot his grandmother before driving toward the school, then entering the campus and opening fire. Law enforcement officers shot Romas.

“Everybody’s just in shock,” said Adrian Ramirez.

Trump responded to it on social media with a heartfelt statement.

Truth Social post:

So hard to think or report about anything else after watching the Texas school “massacre” which took place yesterday. Thank you to the great wisdom and bravery of our Law Enforcement Professionals, and condolences to all who are suffering so gravely with the loss of those incredible souls so close to you. No words can express the sorrow and grief of this absolutely horrible event. It is a moment in time which will never be forgotten!

FBI Spied on 3.3M Americans, No Warrants

Top House Republicans are demanding answers from the FBI after court-ordered information came to light showing that the federal agency had collected the information of over 3 million Americans without a warrant.
In a May 25 letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Reps. Jim Jordan (R‑Ohio) and Mike Turner (R‑Ohio) asked Wray to explain why his agency had wiretapped and gathered personal information on over 3.3 million Americans without a warrant (pdf).
Limited authority to gather foreign intelligence information is granted by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).
Specifically, section 702 of the bill says: “the Attorney General (AG) and the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) may jointly authorize the targeting of (i) non‑U.S. persons (ii) who are reasonably believed to be outside of the United States (iii) to acquire foreign intelligence information.”
However, this power can grant an expanding circle of possible searches to the FBI and other intel agencies, who can use the same power against American citizens who had any interaction with targeted foreign …

Stacey Abrams: Voter Participation Can Be ‘Suppression’

In the world of Stacey Abrams, everything is rigged, and her endless lies, grievances and conspiracies are either unfalsifiable, or the falsification of them is simply ignored.  She’s become a big star among Democrats and their colleagues in the news media because of her lies, grievances and conspiracies.  Sometimes, they like such things, depending on who’s claiming victimhood.  Abrams is about to become her party’s gubernatorial nominee for the second time in two tries, but she’s currently consumed by November-minded damage control.  She’s playing defense over her amazing weekend soundbyte in which she declared Georgia to be the worst state in the country in which to live.  She can add all the “context” she wants.  She just rolled out the campaign slogan that Republicans will tie to her for the next five months: “Georgia — we’re the worst.“RGA already running with Abrams’ inexplicable gaffe: https://t.co/2Srv9YpFGy— Josh Kraushaar (@HotlineJosh) May 23, 2022Notice the reticent smattering of applause, even from a friendly crowd.  Georgia has been a leading state not just for doing business, but for population influx, in recent years.  People aren’t flocking to the Peach State because it’s a dystopian hellhole. Contra what Abrams says in …

Texas association cuts NSBA ties

The Texas Association of School Boards announced Monday it will cut ties with the National School Boards Association, a decision that follows the release of a report detailing how the NSBA sent a letter to the Biden administration comparing protesting parents to domestic terrorists.
In an email to school board members, TASB Executive Director Dan Troxell announced the state association’s decision to disassociate itself with the national organization.
“As you know, TASB has been monitoring carefully NSBA’s efforts to rebuild trust with its members over the past eight months and awaiting the release of its independent investigation into the Sept. 29 letter,” Troxell said. “While we acknowledge that improvements have been made under NSBA’s new leadership, it’s clear that those efforts don’t go far enough at this time to overcome the operational deficiencies and lack of internal controls outlined in the investigation report.”
NSBA SAYS CONTROVERSIAL ‘DOMESTIC TERRORISM’ LETTER SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN SENT
The independent report, released Friday, detailed how the letter did not run afoul of the NSBA’s policies and procedures, even as numerous board members were unaware it was being drafted.

Even though summer’s almost here, our kids can’t catch a break.Several districts across the United States have decided to put school kids back in masks.
Maine: The superintendent of the Portland public schools wrote a letter to parents dated May 10, 2022 that stated that masks are once again required indoors and on school buses. (1)
Superintendent Xavier Botana insisted that “This step has become necessary to help keep everyone safe as positive cases of COVID-19 are rapidly increasing in our community and schools.”
Massachusetts: Officials in Northampton after holding an emergency meeting, also decided to mask children again.
Citing a rise in COVID-19 cases based on their pooled testing program (from 64 to 139 cases), Superintendent John Provost told the community: “I believe this intervention must be attempted because the current increase in disease spread is impacting the lives and learning of many within our school community,” reports the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
