Republicans are upping the ante with more aggressive and urgent messaging on the border crisis less than five months out from the midterm elections.
State leaders and lawmakers in Congress have torn into President Joe Biden for his handling of the U.S.-Mexico border crisis for nearly a year and a half, but they amplified their concerns this week, bringing their border solutions front and center as a plethora of other concerns — inflation, Ukraine, and abortion — fight for the attention of voters.
“From my perspective, it’s been a big issue. And it will continue to be one with all the folks coming across,” said Brendan Steinhauser, a veteran GOP operative who led successful campaigns for Sen. John Cornyn and Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas. “Just the sheer numbers, the volume, I think that’s what’s driving a lot of this because Gov. Biden Undermines SCOTUS in Ways Unlike Predecessors
Two months into his presidency, as he did often on the campaign trial, President Joe Biden asked America to embrace the legitimacy of government.“Put trust and faith in our government to fulfill its most important function, which is protecting the American people,” the 46th president implored his country in a March 2021 speech on the anniversary of the COVID-19 lockdowns.
On Friday, after being stung by abortion and gun rights rulings by the Supreme Court that he disagreed with, the president changed his tune and launched a verbal assault on America’s judicial branch of government and its iconic marbled court of nine justices.

Pro-Life Groups Say Roe Reversal Only the First Half of Battle
The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the 1973 ruling Roe v. Wade represents a victory for women and children throughout the country, pro-life organizations say, but add that their work is only halfway finished.“Of course, we are rejoicing that the Supreme Court has seen the need to overturn this dreadful decision that has led to millions of deaths of unborn children and harm to their mothers who have suffered the violence of abortion,” Olivia Gans Turner, director of the American Victims of Abortion Outreach program through National Right to Life, told The Epoch Times in a phone interview.
The court has correctly decided that a right to abortion is not in the Constitution, she said.

GOAT Justice Clarence Thomas Shows Power Of Conservatives
For more than a decade, individual Supreme Court conservatives lamented lower court decisions that endorsed gun regulations, as their own court failed to expand a 2008 ruling that said the Second Amendment protects a right to a handgun in the home for self-defense.
One of the strongest dissenters was Justice Clarence Thomas, who in 2020 declared, “It is extremely improbable that the Framers understood the Second Amendment to protect little more than carrying a gun from the bedroom to the kitchen.”
But the new conservative supermajority has changed everything for America, and on Thursday Thomas wrote the 6–3 decision broadening prior interpretations of the Second Amendment right “to keep and bear arms.”
Thomas wrote that the definition of “bear naturally encompasses public carry. Most gun owners do not wear a holstered pistol at their hip in their bedroom or while sitting at the dinner table. Although individuals often ‘keep’ firearms in their home, at the ready for self-defense, most do not ‘bear’ them in the home beyond moments of actual confrontation.”
