Modify the Presentation Layout of Safari 5 Reader

Modify the Presentation Layout of Safari 5 Reader:

This tip will work for modifying just about anything, not just color. Try eliminating line 85 if you're as unenthused as I am about justified text.

"What I'd Prefer for the Safari 5 Reader"

"What I'd Prefer for the Safari 5 Reader":

Concept by Justin Stahl.

I have to agree, the justified text kick that Apple is bent on right now is seems as one-sided as their Flash vs. HTML5 rhetoric. I honestly don't get why a simple option isn't available to allow the user to switch between justified and flush-left text, especially in iBooks.

Coda Notes, a Safari Extension

Coda Notes, a Safari Extension:

It's not available to the public yet, but the idea seems promising:

When you install Coda Notes, you'll get a new button in your toolbar. Click it to see all our annotation tools, built right into Safari. Draw some notes on your favorite website. Communicate changes, ideas, concepts, or problems. Then, when you're done, hit the Send Notes button and the whole page flips over as a postcard.

Change Gmail's 'from:' Address on iPhone/iPad

Change Gmail's 'from:' Address on iPhone/iPad:

This is a simple fix if you need to change the 'from:' address when sending mail on your iPhone or iPad. Works like a charm. The only drawback is you'll have to do it each time you send a message.

If you'd like to make it permanent and not have to change it each time, try putting your email on a Google domain.

For Sale: Pile of Trash Lawnmower

For Sale: Pile of Trash Lawnmower:

Let's kick off the weekend with a chuckle. Actual classified ad for a Craftsman 21" 5.5hp Mower:

This lawnmower is no ordinary lawnmower. No. I had hoped to buy an ordinary lawnmower, but instead got this pile of trash….

This lawnmower has actually achieved Sainthood, when in 2002 it mowed a twenty foot strip of lawn without having the bag chute get clogged! This miracle, though it has never happened again, was witnessed by a 12 year old boy.

I bet...

How Much Do Music Artists Earn Online?

How Much Do Music Artists Earn Online?:

This infographic really puts things into perspective, based on a solo artist making minimum wage (U.S.) each month. The royalties for authors of most tech books aren't any better.

WirelessIris: Follow Focus for Your DSLR via iPhone or iPad

WirelessIris: Follow Focus for Your DSLR via iPhone or iPad:

Having not used a follow focus on set before myself, I don't know how practical this is. But if you're an indie filmmaker with an extra $1,389 lying around and don't know what to do with it, this could be a fun toy to spend it on.
