What Does It Mean When Your Body Aches
by Tammy Jones
We’ve all been there before.
You wake up one morning to get ready for work when, all of a sudden, you realize you’re having a hard time moving. Your body aches and you’re not sure what exactly you did to make it hurt. One thing is for sure, you’re not looking forward to going about the rest of your day.
It goes without saying, but major body aches can completely ruin your day, and even prevent you from doing your job or caring for your family. But there is good news. Most causes for body aches can be explained, and even healed if you know what is causing you to hurt.
So what does it mean when your body aches? And what can you do to make the pain go away? If you’re asking yourself these kinds of questions, wonder no longer, because we’re here to help!
In this article, we’ll tell you why your body aches, as well as what you can do to get rid of the pain, and even prevent it from happening! Now then, let’s get started!
You’ve Got a Cold or the Flu
Most common colds or touches of flu usually bring with them a bit of aching and soreness. So if you’ve been sick for a while, or think you’re about to get sick, that could be what’s causing your body to ache or feel sore.
When we get sick, we don’t move as often as normal because we lack the energy needed to be active. This means your muscles don’t get used enough, and thus, they start to ache or hurt.
So if you’re sick or ill, try to get up a move around some. Even if it’s only walking around the house for a bit, it can go a long way in helping you feel better.
You’re Suffering from Arthritis
Anyone who has had arthritis for a while knows what that pain feels like and can identify it pretty easily. But if it’s a new feeling to you, you may be confused as to what it is you’re feeling.
If you’ve noticed that you ache in your joints specifically, you may have arthritis. This is especially noticeable in the colder months, which can make wintertime that much harder to get through.
A pro tip? Try to be as active as you can so you can keep your blood flowing. And if the pain gets too bad, visit a doctor ASAP, so you can be treated for your arthritis.
You Have Nutritional Deficiencies
Believe it or not, what you eat, and more importantly, what you don’t eat, can lead to soreness and body aches. The good news is, if this is your problem, the solution is as simple as eating the right foods and taking the right vitamins.
Look for foods that are high in calcium, like bananas, to get you feeling good again. Vitamin D and vitamin C can help, too.
You’re Overly Stressed
It can’t be overstated how bad being stressed is for your physical and mental health. And among the least talked about issues that come from being overly stressed is body aches and soreness.
When you’re stressed, your muscles are constantly tense, which overworks them. That, combined with poor posture, can lead to you feeling like you worked out all day.
So if you get too stressed out, try to blow off some steam with exercise. That combined with sleep and a proper diet can help combat stress-related soreness and aches.
You Worked Out Too Hard
While maintaining a consistent exercise schedule is a good idea, it’s important to note that you can overtrain your muscles, too. And that overtraining can lead to unusual pain and soreness, which isn’t fun and can keep you out of the gym for a while.
Also, doing exercises incorrectly can lead to you hurting your joints and muscles. That’s why it’s wise to train with a professional if you’re new to working out.
If you’re sore after a workout, massage therapy is the best way to get back on your feet. This will help you improve the blood flow in your body, and help you heal faster, which of course is a good thing.
You Need to Visit a Doctor
If you feel like something more serious may be going on, it’s a good idea to book an appointment with your doctor to confirm nothing major is wrong.
Various disorders, like chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), can cause constant body aches and soreness. A doctor should be able to determine if you have a disorder, or if something in your life is causing the issue, and help you resolve it.
What Does it Mean When Your Body Aches?
Well, there you have it! Now you know the answer to the “what does it mean when your body aches?” question that we all ask ourselves at some point in time.
As you can see, there is a wide variety of reasons that could be behind why you’re body is aching. The most common reasons include being sick with common colds and flu, post-workout soreness, and stress.
There’s a good chance that you’re sore because of your diet, too. That’s why it’s important to eat lots of calcium, as well as foods that contain both Vitamin D and Vitamin C. A proper diet, combined with working out regularly (and properly) can go a long way in preventing any body aches or soreness.

Noteworthy Benefits of Playing Outside in the Cold
by LouAnn Moss
As the cold weather gets closer and closer, we start to worry more about whether our children will get outside enough. In the fall it’s not too much of an issue, but as the winter months roll around, children seem to get outside less and less often. It makes sense—we’re hesitant to send kids outside because of all the things that could go wrong.
Nobody wants their child to get frostbite; however, if you take the proper steps, you and your children can enjoy all the different benefits of playing outside in the cold! From proper hygiene practices that work year-round to not over-bundling your kiddos, once you take these steps, you and your kids will love the quick reward of outdoor play. We list a few of those great benefits below—check them out!
Gives them a chance to escape indoor germs
Many people associate the cold with getting sick, but it’s not going outside that means automatic sickness. In fact, most often, the reason kids get sick in the winter is because they’re trapped inside all of the time. Your kids are more likely to get sick if they’re constantly indoors because of the exposure to a poorly ventilated environment and stagnant air. Getting your kids outside in the cold will give them that fresh air their body needs. To put it simply, outdoor play in the cold strengthens the immune system—so make sure you and the kids are spending time outdoors.
Gets their exercise in
The summer is full of children running around and consistently getting their exercise in, and they can still do that in the colder months. Daily exercise is vital for children, so playing outside in the cold is a fabulous way to do that and keep them healthy. What’s even better is that outdoor play in the winter can be more beneficial than in other seasons, since it takes more muscle and movement to get through snow and even just to breathe in that cold air.
Provides vitamin D
All of us end up feeling the effects of a little sunshine in the cold months, and kids tend to feel that even deeper. Since very few foods actually contain vitamin D, sun exposure is one of the few ways children can get the essential vitamin. Getting outside in the cold—especially when it’s a sunny day—will have a large impact on their mood. If there have been a few days of no sunshine, make sure you spend a lot of time outside once the sunshine returns.
Helps burn extra energy
Probably one of the benefits that parents love the most about playing outside in the cold is how that extra energy gets burned off. Whether you head to a playground when the snow’s cleared a bit, or go on a winter wonder walk, you and the kids are sure to enjoy the fresh air and the chance to burn off some of that extra energy. You don’t have to stay indoors all winter long—and you shouldn’t!

Essential Vitamins You Should Take Daily
by LouAnn Moss
As winter rolls in and flu season begins to rear its ugly head, it’s important to take all the precautions you can to keep yourself and your family healthy. Eating a healthy diet and maintaining proper hygiene is a good place to start, but it may not always be enough to ward off the flu. Keep your body in tip-top shape this season with this guide to essential vitamins you should take daily.
Vitamin D
With the sun often in short supply during the long winter months, vitamin D is easily one of the most essential vitamins you should take daily. Vitamin D is usually gained from sun exposure and, as such, vitamin D deficiencies become increasingly common during the winter. Vitamin D deficiencies are mostly seen in elderly individuals, but they can occur in younger adults and children as well. Taking a daily vitamin D supplement will reduce the risk of developing a vitamin D deficiency and suffering subsequent ailments, such as osteoporosis and osteomalacia.
Calcium
As mothers around the world will agree, calcium is the key to developing strong bones and teeth. However, many children and adults do not get enough calcium on a daily basis. Like with vitamin D, a calcium deficiency can lead to certain bone-related illnesses and may put you at an increased risk of broken bones. The most common illness related to calcium deficiency is hypocalcemia, which can be characterized by fatigue, muscle aches and spasms, and dry or itchy skin.
Iron
While iron can be found in various foods, many adults do not receive their proper daily iron amount. This may be due to the fact that everyone requires a different amount of iron. Certain individuals, such as those who are pregnant or going through puberty, will likely require a higher daily amount. Because iron is commonly found in red meat, those who maintain a vegetarian diet are often at higher risk of developing an iron deficiency and can benefit greatly from a daily iron supplement.
Zinc
To maintain a healthy immune system throughout flu season, be sure to take a daily zinc supplement. Zinc levels tend to be lower in older individuals or people experiencing stress. When zinc levels are low, your immune system does not work as well as it should and may make you more susceptible to the flu or common cold. Zinc deficiency can be characterized by a loss of appetite, diarrhea, or certain skin problems, such as acne or eczema.
Magnesium
Magnesium is another nutrient that is crucial to bone health and energy production. While certain foods are rich in magnesium, including spinach, beans, and nuts, it may take a magnesium supplement to ensure you are meeting your body’s daily nutrition needs. Magnesium ensures your body’s enzymes are properly functioning and aids in nutrient digestion and absorption. Because magnesium also plays such an important role in your body’s metabolism, taking a daily magnesium supplement can help reduce the risk of developing diabetes and other diseases related to magnesium deficiency.

There’s more to family vacations than just setting a budget. Keep reading for how to plan a family vacation: 5 key tips.
by Tammy Jones
Family vacations are the perfect way to bond as a family and provide beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. The importance of family vacations has proven to be some of the most memorable experiences of a child’s life.
Knowing how to plan a family vacation will not only create a happier family but could also teach your family certain life-lessons that they will not get back at home.
In fact, a recent survey discovered that adults who traveled as a family between the ages of 12-18 ended up having better grades and higher incomes than those who did not travel.
Planning the perfect family vacation can be difficult especially if there are children of different ages with different interests, and you do not want to break the budget.
Keep on reading to learn how to plan a family vacation, so you can create those perfect, everlasting memories.
1. Make a List of Where You Want to Go
Vacationing with the family is the main goal, however, including the family in the planning will also provide amazing memories. This provides you the opportunity to work together as a team and leaves everyone like they were an important part of the decision making.
Sit down as a family with a big piece of paper and start jotting down family destinations that you all want to experience. Then make it a game as you start the process of elimination, crossing out the least favored places and opting for the most popular destinations within the family.
2. Do Your Research
After you have decided on the destination, it is time to do some research! Delegate each family member to research certain parts of the vacation such as:
Hotel or Airbnb costs and locations
Excursions
Transportation
Food
Cultural Experiences
Things to do and see
Read a travel blog, make a list and plan your budget from the information you have seen, then it is time to start planning some more!
3. Know What to Pack
Part of the vacation is experiencing the food and culture, however, if you have some picky eaters in the family, it is vital that you bring some snacks from home.
Another packing tip is to bring games and other activities for stimulation. The last thing you want to deal with is whining, bored children!
4. Be OK with a Change of Plans
Sometimes when traveling, everything doesn’t always seem to go as planned, there may be missed flights, canceled excursions, or disappointing experiences.
If this happens, take a deep breath, and work together as a family to overcome this, figuring out a plan. This is all part of the adventure, and a perfect way to teach your children how to deal with the road bumps that we experience in life.
Studies show that over 44% of Millenials are planning family vacations, which is much more than 39% with Generation X. This is because parents are catching on to the incredible learning experiences that traveling provides for their children.
5. Have Fun!
You have done all the necessary hard stuff (planning and paying) that got you to this point. Now it is time to relax, enjoy, and create some long-lasting memories as a family.
Learn More About How to Plan a Family Vacation
Knowing how to plan a family vacation is the most important part of the entire vacation itself. So take your time to do the research and you (and your family) will thank yourself later.

Thoughtful Ways to Show Your Parents You Appreciate Them
by LouAnn Moss
We can never underestimate the things our parents do for us. From the time we’re born, they give us their love, advice, and unwavering support. These gifts don’t end once we turn eighteen—our parents are invested in us throughout the entire duration of our lives. As such, we should show our parents how much we appreciate everything they’ve given us—it’s our turn to step up to the plate and give back. To do this, follow some of our thoughtful tips on how to show your parents you appreciate them.
1. Tidy Their Home
Your parents likely cleaned up after you when you were young, and now you should do the same. When you visit your parents, take the time to vacuum the floor or do the dishes. Give them a rest so that they can concentrate on doing something that makes them happy.
2. Make Them a Meal
Cooking meals for you is another thing your parents did for years. Even if cooking is something they enjoy, they probably wouldn’t refuse a break from it. Take a night to make your parents’ favorite meal; go the extra mile and prepare an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert.
3. Have a Party
If a notable event such as an anniversary or birthday is coming up, throw your parents a party. Depending on your parents’ preferences, this can be an intimate gathering or a full-on bash. Get together a group of people who love and appreciate your parents and dedicate the day to celebrating them. Round out the event with a cake and a thoughtful gift. Personalize the gift to further show your appreciation.
4. Call Them Regularly
Your parents want to know what’s going on in your life, and they’d likely love to hear it more than once every few months. Even if you’re busy, make the time to call your parents regularly and fill them in on the current events in your life. Be sure to ask what they’re up to as well.
5. Listen to Them
One of the most important things we can do is listen. In the modern age of technology, however, we often neglect to give people our full attention, even when they’re telling us something important. Don’t try to multitask when you call your parents, and if you talk to them in person, put your phone away so that you can truly take in what they’re saying.
6. Plan a Day Together
Plan a day for just you and your parents to spend together. Get some food, take a walk in the park, or see a movie. Whatever you decide to do, you’re giving your parents the quality time they deserve—and that both of you will cherish.
7. Tell Them
One of the best ways to let your parents know how much you love and appreciate them is to simply tell them. Your parents will undoubtedly love your gifts or homemade meals, but your happiness is ultimately what’s most important to them. Be open with your emotions and take the time to tell them regularly what they mean to you. Remember, you’re one of the most important people in their life—and they are some of yours.

Fall/winter Medicine Cabinet Essentials
by Jonny Bowden
Health and nutrition expert Jonny Bowden, Ph.D., CNS says you
may want to change how you prepare for cold and cough season
Have you ever noticed that when there’s a bug around your office, not everyone gets sick? Somebody is out for 10 days, someone else for a half day and some people don’t even get sidelined at all? Think about it. They’ve all been exposed to the same germ. So, why does this happen? Part of the reason may be how they stock their fall/winter medicine cabinets.
“If your immune system is well nourished and healthy, it will withstand challenges a lot better. Those of us lucky enough to not get sick, stay healthy because our immune system is able to just bat the challenge aside. Or, at the very least, handle it and recover quickly,” says Jonny Bowden, Ph.D., CNS.
This time of year, we buy jackets and decorate our homes for the various holidays. But we often miss another important task, which is to prepare for sniffles, coughs and other minor ailments by organizing and restocking the medicine cabinet. Rather than waiting to shop until you or a family member gets sick, Bowden says it’s better to have the most effective remedies already on hand.
Start by doing the following:
Choose a cool, dry storage place. “Bathroom cabinets are okay as long as they don’t get warm and steamy during baths and showers. Many products degrade when exposed to humidity and warm temperatures.”
Check expiration dates. “Toss any expired products. Many pharmacies offer safe medication disposal.”
Safely secure all medications and supplements if there are young children in the house. “Lock these products in a high cabinet.”
Carefully review all labels. “Now is a good time to remind yourself of any precautions. Many over-the-counter (OTC) drugs have warnings regarding their use in those who have serious medical conditions such as heart, kidney or liver disease.”
Understand dosing instructions. “Some products for children are dosed by weight or age. Others are not safe or recommended for children.”
Here’s what Bowden says you might want to include in your medicine cabinet makeover:
For overall wellness: “Stock up on garlic. It’s been used since ancient times to ward off colds. I don’t recommend wearing it around your neck, but supplementing your diet with fresh garlic or garlic extract may help keep all those nasty germs away. When you use garlic for cooking, be sure to add it towards the end, and be sure to chop it up thoroughly. The active ingredient (allicin) is created by breaking down the cell walls.”
For the common cold: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 22 million school days are lost annually in the United States because of the common cold1. “When it comes to our health, antioxidants are nature’s good guys. My go-to medicine cabinet staple is black elderberry
. It contains flavonoids called anthocyanins, which have a remarkable ability to stimulate the body’s immune system2. Sambucol is the original black elderberry supplement used during cough/cold season for natural immune support. Sambucol Gummies
are great for kids because they are pectin-based, and contain no artificial flavors or colors. They are also free of all major allergies including gluten, nuts, soy and dairy.”
For sore throats: “Throat sprays with Echinacea, sage and peppermint can help. Buckwheat honey
is also great for lubricating and soothing a sore throat. It contains antioxidants and nutrients that help speed healing. Buckwheat honey can be given to children age one year and over and is available in most health food stores.”
For dry skin: “Fall and winter are notoriously hard on skin. To help keep it moisturized, try a light layer of coconut oil
after a shower to trap moisture. Always have fresh razor blades on hand so you’re not inflicting tiny scrapes, and be sure to never run out of shaving cream or gel.”
For nausea, upset stomach: “Studies show that the very potent anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols found in ginger can help relieve motion sickness, dizziness, nausea and gas, and soothe the intestinal tract. You can find supplemental ginger
in chewables and gummies in pharmacies and health food stores.”
With these products readily available, you may be able to resolve many of your household’s typical health issues quickly and easily.
For additional information about black elderberries, visit www.pharmacareus.com and www.sambucolusa.com.

In a study published in The Journal of International Medical Research (2004), Sambucol Black Elderberry Extract was shown to reduce severity and shorten the duration of flu types A and B by up to four days. Sixty patients (29 females/31 males) ages 18 to 54 years with verified influenza were enrolled in the double-blind, placebo-controlled study. On average, patients taking Sambucol recovered in 3.1 days compared to 7.1 days for those given placebo. Symptoms were also made less severe with no significant side effects reported.

6 Reasons You Need to Vacuum Regularly
by LouAnn Moss
Keeping your home clean can be difficult, but it is entirely necessary. Vacuuming is one of the best ways to keep your floors clean and spotless. Debris on your floors can be harmful to your health if you don’t clean often. Understand some reasons why you need to vacuum regularly ahead.
Stop the Spread of Germs
Vacuuming regularly is one way you can keep your home germ-free. A vacuum will do this by sucking up all the dust, dirt, or food that can potentially spread germs. Vacuuming often will prevent you from breathing that all in, stopping sickness and allergies. Not only does vacuuming make your home look great, but it will keep you and your family members healthy and happy.
Keep Rodents and Pests Away
Many rodents and pests can spread disease, and a vacuum keeps them at bay. While there are a lot of different bugs and rodents that can get into your home, they’re commonly after food. The easiest way to eliminate them from your home is to regularly clean, which involves vacuuming. When you vacuum, you can clean up the crumbs that may fall to the floor and attract those pests.
Prevent Buildup
Another reason you need to vacuum regularly is so you can stop that inevitable buildup. Not only is it gross to have in your home, but it can get out of hand quickly and be too much for your vacuum to handle. Not keeping up with vacuuming can also cause mold growth. It is recommended that you vacuum at least once a week.
Preserve the Floor’s Condition
It is also important to vacuum so that you can maintain your floor’s condition. many things can harm your wood floors or carpet. A floor installation can cost thousands of dollars, but you can get the most out of it by maintaining it. This will keep your floor in pristine condition and avoid any further damage.
Keep Children Healthy
If you have a baby, chances are they will be crawling around on the floor soon. This is why you need to keep your floors clean, so your child isn’t rolling around on a dirty floor. There may be something that can harm them that managed to get on the floor too. Vacuuming is the best way to ensure that your floors are clean and safe enough for your child to crawl around on to their heart’s content.
Improve Your Mental Health
The physical act of vacuuming may come across as a chore at first, but it can actually be quite beneficial for your mental health. Vacuuming can become therapeutic for you, especially when you realize the good it is doing for your home. Vacuuming can be the perfect thing to do after a long, stressful day.
Just because your floors may not look dirty, does not mean they are clean. Many harmful germs and bacteria could be within your floors. Sticking to a vacuuming schedule every week can prevent many issues.

Planned Parenthood says: Read our Statistics: “No Federal Funds pay for Abortion” Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics
Regardless of whether a person supports or opposes a pre-born child’s right to life, we should at least be honest about the facts and our position regarding those facts.
Sadly, Ms. Cecile Richards President of Planned Parenthood seems to prefer smoke, mirrors, and statistics, saying, “No federal funds pay for abortion services at Planned Parenthood.”
As preposterous as this claim may be, you likely cannot find one single major news media outlet calling the nation’s largest abortion provider on their statistical lie claiming that not one penny of the billion-plus taxpayer dollars they have to fund abortion were used to fund abortion.
Mark Twain popularized the quote about the different types of whoppers: Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics. Wikipedia cites that phrase as describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments.
Not only is the Planned Parenthood statistic weak. It’s a lie so outright outrageous it might make Satan’s red face blush. Think about it. If abortion clinics were regulated as much as cigarettes, they might have to change their name to Abortion Incorporated or more aptly “Planned Barrenhood.”
Yes, Planned Parenthood does provide other related services that do not directly kill innocent human life. They might check your blood pressure while selling you on having an abortion. Or they might take your temperature while selling you an abortion. But make no mistake about it. They have taken billions of dollars of your tax money to perform many millions of abortions.
Planned Parenthood murders over 320,000 developing fetal human beings each year in the United States. That is about 1/3 of the total.
That is about 887 killings each and every day
Or 37 murders of a developing fetal human being every hour.
In the time it takes you to read this article, another 10 killings of human life will have been performed at Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood to Spend $45M to Defeat Trump, Republicans.
If you vote Democrat in 2020 you are voting for the slaughter of 320,000 MORE innocent developing fetal human beings in 2021 and every year thereafter. Think about that dear people.
Here are Just Six of the Planned Parenthood Deceptions:
Their Name: The name Planned Parenthood implies that they are there to assist with also becoming a parent like in helping with low sperm counts, or problems with fallopian tube issues doesn’t it. Well, they don’t. So, just what does Planned Parenthood deal in? STD’s, cancer screening, transgender therapy, contraception, sexual organ diseases.
From my research, I found nothing about assistance in promoting healthy births of live children. It is all about anti-life, anti-baby, all the while they paint themselves as being so caring and compassionate. They seem cut from the same bloody cloth as Virginia Governor Ralph Northam Mayor whose infamous solution of what to do in the case of a live birth from a botched abortion, saying, “If a mother is in labor…the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and mother.” Right, as the baby is gasping for breath, the solution is to talk about it? We’ve heard that talk is cheap but now, sadly, life is even cheaper.
Every Democrat candidate for president in 2020 raised their hand in favor of abortion murdering developing fetal human beings while still in a mother’s womb, the most sacred place for human life I can think of. This is pure Satanic hatred of the worst kind, robbing the life from the youngest and most innocent among us. Does anyone really want to vote Democrat in 2020 for this reason alone?
The tax-funding received by Planned Parenthood is over $500 million each year from both state and federal sources. This is $1.5 million per day. This does NOT even include donations from private parties and corporations.
The Hyde Amendment says there cannot be federal funding for abortions. But, 17 states can like California represent 40% of our population. You will never hear this from Planned Parenthood. This is a lie of omission. And a half-truth is still a whole lie.
They hide the fact that YOUR TAX DOLLARS DO INDEED PAY FOR ABORTIONS DIRECTLY. THEY LIE THROUGH THEIR TEETH WHEN THEY SAY THEY DON’T. How does this work? The money from the government but they use fungibility statistics. This means the half a billion dollars cannot be used for abortions. BUT, other money from donors or states like California or corporations can pay for abortions. So, when that money comes in, they say federal money is not for abortions but say they use it for the other services they provide in number 1 on this list. So, they can say federal money does not pay for abortions when in fact it does.
As Sue Thayer, former Planned Parenthood manager said, the money all goes into one big pot. There is no way to keep abortion money separate from other activities. So, the truth is, your money does pay for abortions. Planned Parenthood lies about this.
They don’t talk about “Title X” where federal taxpayer money pays directly for “emergency contraception” or known as the “Morning After Pill”. This pill aborts a fertilized egg in a mother’s womb. It is an abortion pill that chemically murders the now newly developing fetal human being. But you will never hear them call it what it really is: abortion. Again, lying with statistics and verbiage.
So, remember in November, you have an informed vote: A vote for any of the Democratic candidates in 2020 is a vote for the death of 320,000 babies per year.

When Tragedy Strikes, Should Families Of The Accused Also Suffer?
by Guest Author
By Dr. Buck Blodgett
When the most heinous crimes occur – murders, mass shootings, serial killings – much of the focus understandably turns to the victims and their grieving families who struggle to make sense of senseless violence.
But the perpetrators have families, too, who often are horrified and guilt-ridden by what happened.
Even the famous are not immune. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles revealed recently how agonizing it was to process the news after her brother was charged in a triple homicide. Biles tweeted that her “heart aches” for the victims and their families. But she also asked for respect for her family’s privacy “as we deal with our pain.”
“It’s an understandable request because the pain of an accused perpetrator’s family can be unbearable,” says Dr. Buck Blodgett, who wrote A Message from Jessie and founded The LOVE>hate Project (www.ligth.org) after his daughter was raped and murdered by an ex-boyfriend in her own home.
Even as he mourned his daughter and sought justice, Blodgett felt empathy for the parents of the young man eventually convicted in her death.
“They are good people,” he says. “They unquestionably provided a loving, caring, quality home environment for their children. They had nothing to do with the choices their son made. And they have been through a hell that few can imagine.”
Blodgett has a message for those caught up in either side of a tragedy – and for anyone who struggles to understand why the world is filled with such suffering:
Don’t lose faith in human goodness. Blodgett remembers during one court hearing when he and his wife passed the defendant’s parents and their family. They exchanged hugs, blessings and sympathies. Later, two members of the family approached him and thanked him “for the grace you have shown our family.” Blodgett says that touched him. “The fact that two families on opposite sides of a murder trial could show each other respect, empathy and love meant everything,” he says. “It brought faith in the goodness of people, and a small measure of healing back into our families.”
Understand who is really responsible. After his daughter’s murderer was sentenced, Blodgett approached the convicted killer’s mother, hugged her and told her she was a great mom. He imagined she must ask herself numerous questions, including “Could I have done something different?” Blodgett says that’s the wrong question, and says it’s better to ask: “Why did (the killer) choose to use his gift of free will in this way?”
Choose love over hate. Once tragedies happen they can’t be undone, and the grieving process may never end, but Blodgett is convinced people can create some good out of even the most horrible of events, regardless of which side of that event they fall on. In Blodgett’s case, he founded The LOVE>hate Project with the mission of ending violence against women and promoting love over hate.
“How do you overcome something like this?” Blodgett asks. “With love. With an open heart, an open mind, an open will. For me, the answer is refusing to let hate win; refusing to let it shape me, govern my actions, tell me who I am. Hate is not allowed in my heart.”

Family Business: How to Create a Family Photo Album for Your Customers
Did you know that reflecting on happy memories is an effective way to boost your mood?
That’s right! And putting together a family photo album is an excellent way to keep all those special moments in one place.
Helping your customers to create their family albums is a great way to show that you care, which will present your brand in a positive light and increase customer loyalty.
Need tips on creating the perfect album? Keep reading.
Ask Customers to Submit High-Resolution Images
Photo albums look best when the photos are crisp, clear, and high-quality.
If you’ve ever tried to resize image assets without a high-resolution file, you’ll know how blurry and distorted they can end up looking.
Ensure that the quality is perfect by asking for high-quality original photos or files rather than poor-quality scans or shaky mobile phone photos.
Photos are the building block of the album—it can only ever look as good as the source images.
Apply Filters to Certain Pictures for Effect
While you don’t want to go crazy with special effects, adding filters to certain photos can be a great way to add emotion to the album.
For example, you might use a black and white filter for close-up images of a wedding or a new baby. For a seasonal photo, you might add a warm filter to make the images look extra festive.
Be sure to include customers in choosing the perfect filters.
Use Text to Describe Photos
A lot happens over the course of a lifetime, and it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when and where photos were taken—especially if decades have passed.
Encourage customers to supply a little text to accompany each photo so that nothing is forgotten.
This could be something as simple as a few words, like, “John and Kate’s Wedding, 2017”, or as complex as a full paragraph describing exactly what happened.
Adding funny moments or in-jokes are great ways to make the album feel personal and special.
Add Custom Frames for Special Events
Custom frames are another great way to make photos look unique and they’re perfect for marking special events.
Photos of a birthday party could be surrounded by colorful balloons, a baby shower photo could be framed by tiny footprints, and a heart frame could be perfect for a wedding or anniversary photo.
Again, frames are best used sparingly for special moments rather than on every single photo.
Design a Personalized Front Cover
A personalized front cover with the family name and dates of the photos contained is the perfect final touch. It makes the album easy to find once in storage and sets it apart from generic, store-bought photo albums.
Giving customers a say in the font, color, and design of the cover is always a good idea.
What’s the Benefit of a Photo Album in the Digital Age?
There’s nothing quite like flicking through a physical photo album, so it’s definitely worth printing photos properly. Physical photo albums are also a lovely item to pass down through the generations—and there’s no risk of accidentally deleting them!
