Technocracy: How Liberals Successfully Silence Dissent
My WND Technocracy column this week is about the ever more intense effort by the Left to criminalize, marginalize, and stifle political dissent.
We never simply stand up and say, “I reject your flawed premise … and if you don’t get ‘out of my face,’ I will drop you where you stand.”
These days, it isn’t even safe to be a conservative on Facebook or Twitter, where liberals will falsely report your account in an effort to trigger its removal.

Technocracy: What if a Facebook ‘Friend’ is Arrested?
My WND Technocracy column today was inspired by the recent arrest, on rather horrifying charges, of a particularly unctuous martial arts figure.
…[T]he only acceptable, moral response to news that someone in your online social circle has been accused of a serious crime is immediate and strong condemnation.
The fellow in question — who was arrested on charges of possessing child pornography — has online friends, as we all do. None of these individuals has disavowed him yet, despite his long criminal record and his most recent legal issues. This is evidence of a serious lack of character in those friends.

Technocracy: The Deadliest Man Alive
My WND Technocracy column this week is about John “Count Dante” Keehan, who styled himself as “the deadliest man alive.”
Reading of John Keehan’s disdain for the powers that were during his day, it is hard not to develop a certain regard for him.
Keehan was first the darling, then the devil, of the karate establishment in the late 1960s. He put mail-order martial arts on the map (for good or for ill) and he led a bizarre, violent, and fascinating life. He died young.

Technocracy: Your Employer Is NOT Your Master
I love my jobs. I work about four of them at any given time. On the whole, I like the people I work with, and for, very much. This hasn't always been so.
The appropriate response to the question, "Give me your Facebook password," should be the sentences, "I'm sorry, there's apparently been a misunderstanding. Are you telling me you don't want me to work here?"
Living a life that is appropriately dynamic and assertive requires self-respect, and this means drawing your boundaries. You have to protect those boundaries, and the price for that is sometimes losing your job. This is a hard choice to make, but would you rather live life on your own terms, or bend your knee and grovel like a worm to anyone who threatens to fire you?
Every employee has limits. Read the full column here in WND.

Technocracy: The High Cost of Food Hysteria
My WND Technocracy column this week is about the 650 jobs lost in the outcry over so-called "pink slime."
If industry critics, doomsayers and hysterical environmentalists are to be believed, we are all of us every day spinning the chamber of a loaded revolver and putting the barrel in our mouths … and we're doing it more than once.
Of course, those people now experiencing Barack Hussein Obama's economy aren't the only people affected by the closure of the plants that make "lean, finely textured beef." The rest of the country also loses, because the utility cost of making much ado about an established — and apparently benign — industry practice makes it harder to feed the millions our food industry was built up to serve.

Technocracy: Libs’ Twin Obsessions (Guns and Race)
My WND Technocracy column this week is about the media hysteria over the Trayvon Martin shooting.
Some of the same people standing up and proclaiming to news cameras that they “know in their hearts” that Zimmerman is a murderer probably also believe that O.J. Simpson still searches for his ex-wife’s killers.
Whether Martin’s killer was motivated by the desire for self-defense or out of racist hatred is something we can’t know. We can only hope the legal system produces a tolerable outcome.
The case is actually quite similar to a case I covered previously in Technocracy, that of the trial of Roderick Scott — a black man who killed a white teenager and was similarly reviled for the act.

Technocracy: Disagree with Obama? You’re a hater!
I was thrilled to learn, a few days ago, that the propagandists at Morris Dees’ Southern Poverty Law Center had branded me a promulgator of “mainstream hate.”
The SPLC is a hate group and nothing more. Its operatives hate white people (the ones who don’t vote Democrat, anyway), capitalism, guns, Christians, freedom, the Constitution, and probably kittens and apple pie.
When the libs hate you, you’re doing something right, and the more wretched the leftist, the better your work. To have this hate group trying to group me with Klan members and their manufactured militia wingnuts is truly an honor.

Custom Carry Sheaths
Through PayPal (my paypal address is phil@philelmore.com), I accept prepaid commissions to make amateur Kydex sheaths for knives and other weapons. In rare cases I may have a knife available that matches yours. In most cases you will need to ship me your knife. In some circumstances we can work out an arrangement wherein I buy a knife that matches yours. Contact me for shipping details and confirmation.
If you want a true artist's work rather than the hatchet job of an amateur like me, I urge you to go to Bob Humelbaugh. He has never disappointed me and he will make you the best Kydex sheath you'll ever carry. (If you're in Canada, I highly recommend On/Scene Tactical.)
If you want me to muddle through it, though, I can do that. Cost for a basic sheath is $25 USD, plus another $11 USD for a Tek-Lok (specify large or small) or 5 USD for an IWB belt loop (and plus Priority Shipping of 9.95 for shipping and insurance to return your knife and sheath to you). We can work out your exact total and details through e-mail.
Payment must be made before work can commence. Turnaround times vary depending on the complexity of the commission. Different colors of Kydex can be special-ordered, but you'll need to pay for the materials.
