Celebrate International Women’s Day
Happy International Women’s Day! 👩🏻👩🏼👩🏽👩🏾👩🏿
In 2019, we kicked it off with a Year of Tranquility launch fête. SO. MUCH. FUN!
Today I wanted to share ideas on ways to celebrate women on this special day (and beyond):
Start a feminist film club, writing group, or book club, watch 25 inspiring Ted Talks by women, embrace equity, see an exhibition by a female artist, check out the International Women’s Day website, send an encouraging note to a female friend or colleague, watch a documentary by or about women, see a female artist perform, read one of these 32 feminist essentials, bow before RBG, read about a feminist icon (hello, Gloria!), host an event, march and join protests, profile women, watch Knock Down the House, support women-owned businesses, listen to 101 songs to celebrate IWD, encourage equality, treat others with kindness, wave your feminist flag, forgo gossiping—especially about other women, love your body, invest in your professional development, challenge gender norms, listen to these TDJ podcasts: feminist activism, racial justice, spiritual activism, feminism and more, dharma of gender, artistic activism, AND you do you . . . without apologizing!
Wishing you a thoughtful IWD. What’s on your agenda?
Sending so much love. And, hey, let’s make every day a celebration of women, shall we?! Bisous. x

Balletcore Capsule Sneak Peek
After treating the Coterie to a private group class with my teacher earlier today, I shared a sneak peek of the upcoming balletcore capsule (shown above). You’ll also see a few pieces below on professional ballerina India Rose of Paris.
I’ll be revealing the balletcore capsule on April 1 at the TDJ Spring Style Event and it will then become available online here. Hope you can join us!
Since 2018, ballet has become an almost daily staple in my days. In between clients and on weekends I’ll pop open my laptop and hop into a virtual class. I’ve set up my home to function as a mini ballet studio with furniture pushed to the side and a pink ballet barre front and center. Sorry Tim and pups!
The practice transforms and humbles me. Last weekend I went to New York and spent four hours practicing my Prelude solo from the ballet Les Sylphides with my teacher and time flew by. I’ll be performing it at the International Adult Ballet Festival the day before my 50th birthday in June.
While practicing that afternoon, I felt in the flow—described by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi as a strong connection to the present moment where all else falls away. And Chopin is mesmerizing. Listen to the song here on Spotify.
Apparently I’m not the only one having fallen in love with ballet as an adult. Elle just released an article titled “Adults Are Rediscovering the Joy of Ballet” and a friend sent me this article from Psychology Today titled “What We Can Learn from Women Who Take Adult Ballet Classes.”
To me, ballet connotes femininity, fluidity, softness, romance, tulle, pointe shoes, discipline, classical music, and reverence.
And the best news, you don’t have to do ballet to enjoy dressing like a ballerina or embodying the aesthetic. That’s available to us all!
Embrace your inner swan. Wear, live, and breathe what makes your heart sing!
PS If you’re interested in starting ballet as an adult, I recorded this video for you.
