Your Presence is Requested {+ FAQs}
Happiest of Sundays to you! I hope your weekend was restful with a mix of productive.
Today we hosted a sold out Pigs, Pugs & Pinot event and raised $1299 for a pig sanctuary and pug rescue. Look for photos and more this week and a BIG thanks to those of you who came out to support us. It means SO much!
As we round the corner toward a brand new week, I wanted to share a video invite to our upcoming TDJ Soirée and I’ve pulled together a list of the most frequently asked questions. Anything I’m missing? Let me know!
When and where is the event?
Sunday, June 9 from 10-6 at Elizabeth’s (1341 L St NW Washington, DC 20005).
What do I wear?
Think cocktail chic and wear something that you feel fabulous in! Keep in mind, black leggings and a comfy tee connotes cocktail chic to us. Also, layers are a good idea considering how temperature can fluctuate.
What do I bring?
Bring images or words you’ve pulled from magazines that speak to you, an open heart, and a beginner’s mind. We’ve got you covered with everything else, including food, drink, pen, paper, and goodies.
How do I get to the venue from the metro?
Elizabeth’s is located two blocks north of McPherson Square Metro station on the Orange and Blue lines. Walk out the 14th and H Street exit. Once on the street level, walk three blocks in the direction of L Street. Turn right at 13th and L Street. Elizabeth’s is the sage townhouse halfway down the block.
I don’t live in DC, how should I get there?
Make a weekend of it! I’ll provide an action-packed Saturday itinerary to help you explore my favorite DC spots on your own or join us for Yoga + The Animals. There are three conveniently-located airports around the DC area: Baltimore (BWI), Dulles (IAD), and Washington-Reagan (DCA). DCA is the closest to where our event will be held in downtown, Washington, DC. If you prefer train, Union Station is a convenient option. Arriving to DC via bus is also an economical option and there are many carriers to choose from.
Where do I park?
There is limited street parking around the venue. If you’d like a garage, one option is One Franklin Square Parking, located at 1301 K Street NW. Parking entrance is on 13th Street, next to the Fire House Station. The exact address of the garage is 1018 13th St. NW. If you’re staying at a hotel, it may be easier to leave your car there and take an Uber or Lyft to Elizabeth’s to avoid dealing with parking.
Where should I stay?
Consider an Airbnb or hotel within walking distance of our venue. One reasonably-priced, crimson-tinged Kimpton favorite, Rouge Hotel (1315 16th St, NW), is an 11-minute walk from Elizabeth’s. The Kimpton Carlyle Hotel (1731 New Hampshire Avenue, DC) is another Art Deco option within a 23-minute walk.
What is the TranquiliT pop-up and when is it open?
The pop-up will be located at the event and open throughout the day with the main shopping times during arrival, lunch, and happy hour. All credit cards, cash, or check will be accepted at the pop-up. There will be an assortment of pre-made items available for purchase, along with the ability to order any item through our made-to-order program.
Our local seamstress will be available for tailoring and long-time TranquiliT aficionados will assist with styling. Established in 2002, TranquiliT is made-to-order and locally-sewn using vegan, eco-friendly fabrics and a portion of all proceeds benefits Pigs & Pugs Project. Meet the entire collection at TranquiliT.com.
I’d like to arrive a day early, what should I do on Saturday?
You’re welcome to join us for Yoga + the Animals for a Pigs & Pugs Project event at a nearby animal sanctuary. If you prefer to stay local, I’ll provide a detailed itinerary a few weeks before our event with suggestions on how to spend a full day walking around Washington, DC’s Dupont Circle neighborhood. Here are a few of my favorite DC spots.
What’s included in my ticket?
Luxe goody bag ($100 value), masterclass programming ($299 value based on Tranquility Salon), fine dining and happy hour at the #6 vegan resto in the freaking world ($150 value), customized event workbook and welcome kit ($49 value), like-hearted connections (priceless), and more. $598+ value for $299.
Everything included in General Admission PLUS a private follow-up virtual class ($99 value), a VIP luxe goody bag (additional $50 value), VIP seating and registration, tee ($58 value), private meet and greet, signed book of your choice ($15-$29 value), new Daybook ($44 value), 25% off mentoring and TranquiliT, and more. $878+ value for $449.
I’m VIP, how do I choose the TranquiliT tee and Kimberly’s book?
Look for an email this spring requesting the information. We’ll have both waiting for you at the event, along with your VIP goody bag.
Is the event for all ages? Can I bring my child?
Due to the nature of the day and happy hour, the event is for women (or those who identify as women) and not suitable for anyone under the age of 21. However, infants or newborns are welcome.
What’s the cancellation policy?
Since the spot has been held for you, if you need to cancel for any reason, no refunds, exchanges, or credits are available unless your spot is filled from the waiting list. If someone from the waiting list is available to take your spot, you will receive a refund minus a 25% administration fee. If nobody is available to take your spot, no refunds, exchanges, or credits are available. You may transfer your ticket to a loved one at no cost by emailing us to adjust the registration.

Tips on Tranquility {Video}
Earlier this week I was a guest on Selina Rose’s Facebook Live show and here’s the video. We talked style, Hip Tranquil Chick and Tranquilista, social media scrolling, living life on our own terms, the definition of tranquility, and more.
After she sent it to me and I hit play, I was like, “what’s up with all the blinking?!” Sure, I have dry eyes and my allergies have been intense lately, but oh my! May I recommend listening, rather than watching because your eyes will probably start blinking.
Also, a funny thing happened the morning of the recording. Before taking Gizmo to the oncologist for a check up (clean bill of health, by the way), I lost my patience with an influx of gray eyebrow hairs and grabbed my tweezers.
While plucking away, I unfortunately shed a few brown ones and was left with two little bald patches. Without hesitation, I reached for my eyebrow shadow circa 20+ years ago and went to town. When I came out and showed Tim, he called me Benicio (after the handsome Del Toro). We had a good laugh, so, again, listening may be your best bet!
Hope you enjoy this interview . . . and aren’t too distracted! Bisous. x

Will You Be There?
Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much. —Helen Keller
Community has been a foundational component of my work since offering yoga classes in a fourth floor city apartment 20 years ago. Today, in a time where we can feel so disconnected, it’s even more important to have IRL (in real life) experiences.
When I first shared my dream of offering the upcoming TDJ Soirée, there was overwhelming excitement about meeting like-minded ladies. Yay for in-person connections!
I’ve designed the full-day event to include time and space for connecting, along with time and space for going inward and truly making the experience all your own. Love me some fellow introverts and HSPs!
Below you’ll meet a few fellow guests and hear why they’re coming to TDJ Soirée.
Your soul already thanks you for giving it this sensory-infused experience filled with scents of flowers, sounds of jazz, tastes of healthy fine dining, and views of chandeliers and art.
Will you be joining me, Melinda, Julie, Shannon, Anu, and other amazing women?! Less than half of the tickets remain. Reserve yours here.
Oh, and stay tuned for an exciting announcement about the new Daybook and the Soirée! Bisous. x
I am so looking forward to attending the TDJ Soirée because Kimberly’s events are always a treat for the senses and a celebration of finding the extraordinary in every day. This is an opportunity for me to disconnect and indulge in self-care while feeling pampered in every way. Best of all is reconnecting with long-time like-minded community members and making new friends. I always come away from TDJ events feeling relaxed, inspired, and energized. — Melinda, resourcefulcookie.com
I’m so excited to be going to the TDJ Soirée! When I first saw the post about it I had a visceral reaction, I had to go! The idea of being with the TDJ community in person, meeting like minded women, having an inspiring day of creativity with Kimberly, in a beautiful venue will be incredibly nurturing for my soul. This year is all about me saying yes to what inspires my personal growth, sense of adventure and fun. And this has all of that! I had to go! I was going no matter what! I bought my ticket! I should probably mention I live in Los Angeles!

What I’m Reading
Earlier today I spontaneously popped over to Tranquility du Jour Facebook Live to share a peek into what I’ve recently read and currently reading. You can watch it here or over on Facebook.
Remember TDJ TV days circa 2009-2011 when I shared a video every other week? Here’s a sampling to jog your memory: Tranquil Travel Tips, Latest Book Loves, 12 Minutes of Yoga, Bookshelf Browsing, My Short-Lived Boxing Career. Oh my, the hair, the video quality, the pure passion!
For one year I’ve had “make more videos” and “host tea with Kimberly video series” and “share more of what I’m reading” and “more Facebook Lives” on my ideas list. Somehow, after curling my hair for a video interview with Selina Rose (will share shortly), I thought “no time like the present” and hit record before dashing off to see clients.
My intention is to bring you more short videos like today’s. If you have specific topics you’d like covered, let me know in the comments below or via email. Thanks for watching! Now tell me, what are YOU reading?! Bisous. x

Happy Earth Day {+ Discount Code}
Of course, you know EVERY day is Earth Day and that it’s those little things that make a difference. In honor of Earth Day, I’ve outlined a few of my favorites below:
Say “food only” when ordering takeout to avoid those soy sauce packages and plastic utensils.
Compost. We keep our scraps in a coffee tin and when it fills, we add them to our larger compost bin outside. Don’t have an outside? Many cities have compost drop-off spots. We only throw out trash once a week since so much ends up in the compost.
Tote a metal fork, metal straw, and reusable water bottle everywhere. This lets you sip your latte or nosh on your takeout without adding more plastic to the landfill.
Love Starbucks? Grab their reusable hot and cold cups to refill.
Shop sustainable fashion. See our coupon below.
Plant trees and a garden. Yes, windowsills count!
Hit the farmers’ markets with your reusable bag.
Eat less meat. Consider taking this week’s 7-day VegPledge.
Tune in to my podcast with Ashlee Piper filled with more ideas.
Switch to online statements, bills, and invoices.
Surround yourself with plants.

How to Juggle Three Dogs
Although this list is by no means exhaustive, here’s a few things I’ve learned along the way about juggling three dogs in a tiny city condo.
Buy food in bulk. They eat a lot!
Walk three pups at once only if there is simply no other option. Otherwise, it’s a tangled leash nightmare.
Have multiple dog beds to accommodate their changing moods. We have four strewn about our 600-square-foot space. Yes, four.
Keep water bowls filled with fresh water and, again, accommodate preferences. Belle Starr prefers hers with ice.
Dole out love as equally as possible even if you have favorites such as Gizmo. Guilty as charged.
Without being too helicoptery (you should see me at the dog park!), pay close attention to your pup’s gait, ears, skin, eyes, etc. to catch concerns asap. Mookie has seasonal allergies (I mean, of course he does), so we have to monitor his belly scratching to avoid inflammation. Then we get to rub his prescription mousse (seriously) or A+D ointment onto him.
To avoid your pup feeling left out, look for dog-friendly activities (check out Pigs, Pugs & Pints). Since we can’t leave Mookie alone due to his separation anxiety, we either daycare him for a quick movie date night or bring him for dining and tea sipping al fresco. This weekend we’re off to Cape May, staying at a dog-friendly hotel, and will be hauling all three to the beach and other dog-friendly locations. Yes, we choose our travels based on our furry kids.
Appreciate their differences. Sure, Belle’s obsessed with Tim and treats me like her nanny but LOVES me at meal time. As a former puppy mill mom, she’s super shy and has never been taken to daycare or boarding. Gizmo is naughty and needy. When he’s thirsty, he whines for us to bring him water or set him in front of his bowl. I think it’s adorable. Tim’s called Mookie his ankle bracelet since we adopted him nearly four years ago. His special needs require lots of planning and accommodating.
Save for those vet bills. With three rescues and two seniors, we’re at the vet regularly and on a first name basis with the oncologist and specialty surgeon.
Don’t let them fool you. When I fell in love with Gizmo on Instagram and decided we needed a third dog, we were told that there’s really no difference between two and three dogs. We’ve found that there’s a BIG difference. Although we wouldn’t change a thing, three IS one more than two and it isn’t always smooth. Okay, that’s a big understatement, but I think you get it!
Prepare to be covered in dog hair. And your furniture and floors, too. It’s worth it, promise!
Wear earplugs, they snore like old men.

Sending Love to Paris
While on a call yesterday, my phone blew up with buzz, buzz, buzz. As we were saying goodbye, I looked down at my text messages and my heart sank. Notre Dame was on fire!?
I pulled up CNN and, along with much of the world, watched in horror as the flames overtook the roof and the spire tumbled.
Today, the four-year anniversary of losing Louis, has been filled with heaviness and melancholy. The damage to this architectural wonder also hurts. We all know how we become attached to our companion animals (hint: because they’re amazing). Yet, how do we become so attached to a place? This New York Times article sheds some light.
Loss and change remind us to savor. Those pug snores, the touristy shot, warm air on the skin, and the laugh of a loved one. Everything is impermanent. Sending love to Paris and you today. Bisous. x
