Guest Post: A Peek Inside My 17-Day Trip Carry-On

A few years ago, I slowly started adopting a capsule wardrobe thanks to the fabulous TranquiliT line. My husband and I travel a lot and, truth be told, I craved a simpler way to pack for travel more so than simplicity in my everyday life. Fast forward to the present day and I have simplicity in the every day as well as when I travel.

My items from TranquiliT really set me up to travel carry on only for all of our trips – from long weekend jaunts in the United States to nearly three weeks abroad! My uniform of capri leggings, a boyfriend tank or two-in-one and long sleeve wrap tunic really serve as a base for my capsule wardrobe. I’m really loving the new, versatile vest for cooler months. So, I suppose, I have two uniforms – one for cooler temperatures and one for warmer temperatures.

This summer my husband and I are going to Rome and South Africa for a 17 day vacation. It will be summer in Rome and winter in South Africa. Our time in South Africa will consist of a safari and time in the city of Cape Town. So layers and versatility will be key. My friends have often joked that I’m Mary Poppins but I assure you there is no magic – just TranquiliT. I share my packing list below and here’s a video, too!

Packed Clothing (tightly rolling your clothing items will allow you to fit more in your suitcase):

Boyfriend tank

Long Sleeve Wrap Tunic

Boyfriend Cardigan

2-in-1 Flare

2-in-1 Gloria

Capri leggings

Sleeveless Wrap Dress

2 colored tank tops

2 t-shirts

Lululemon windbreaker pants for safari

Cuddleduds for layering under pants on safari

Jeans

3 pairs of shorts

Sun hat

Swim suit

Nightgown (I will wash this in our hotel sink so I only have to pack one)

Bras, socks, undies (I will wash these in our hotel sink so I can pack less of them)

One pair of flat, black shoes

One pair of sandals

Kimberly has put together this great guide on how to pair the capri leggings and 2-in-1 fitted top. Since the versatile vest came out, I’ve been wearing it in place of my long sleeve wrap tunic as we enter the warmer months in North America.

Toiletries/Other Necessities (These will go in the front pouch of my carry-on backpack):

Makeup (keep it simple: foundation, powder, bronzer, one eye liner, one eye shadow, mascara, two lipsticks)

Coconut oil for removing makeup/washing face

Travel size hair gel

Travel size shampoo and conditioner

Hair brush

Deodorant

What I will wear on the plane (I always wear my bulkiest layers on the plane. They can easily be shed once you are seated and help with temperature control as you travel to different areas of the world):

Capri leggings

Boyfriend tank

Versatile Vest

Jacket for time in South Africa

Sweatshirt, tied around my waist, for time in South Africa

Sneakers

Happy packing and traveling! I hope you love your TranquiliT and much as I do.

Love,

Hannah Mongiat

Find Tranquility in the City

In one month we’ll gather at the #6 veg-friendly resto in the world for a day catered to finding tranquility in the city.

We have *only a handful of tickets* left to the Tranquility du Jour event of the yearTDJ Soirée, on Sunday, June 9 and it won’t be the same without you!

If you’re feeling in need of an inspiration boost, community, luxurious treats, and reflection time, this Soirée is for you!

This intimate, sensory-filled day is a gentle mid-year nudge of support to create and live a life you love. Filled with new material and oldie but goodie staples, this is the first immersive full-day Tranquility du Jour experience I’ve offered.

And the only one that’s planned.

I get it. You’re overscheduled, tired, and may have lost sight of those 2019 dreams.

The good news? It’s never too late to begin again and this event is all about reconnecting with ourselves.

Carve out this daylong Artist Date and learn to:

express your signature style [includes a TranquiliT pop-up AND mini fashion show to bring the concepts to life]
make self-care a priority
practice mindfulness within life’s messiness
infuse your days with beauty
use creative play to bring dreams to life
design a life you love
create focused goals and leave with an action plan
practice compassion for yourself and others
and more!

But don’t just take it from me . . . see why others are attending this one-of-a-kind event:

I am super excited for the Soirée! I always feel like I have given myself an important gift when I attend Kimberly’s events. I attended the writing week in Paris, as well as events in DC and was thrilled that the Soirée seems to combine the two! This is a perfect mini-destination celebration, and a wonderful gift to give myself to kick off the 2nd half of the year! I can’t wait to spend the day connecting with others and my own sensibilities, reveling in beauty, and getting inspired and aligned. YAY!
— Shannon, shannondunne.com
I so wanted to join the Soirée, but summer plans and living in Oklahoma made it seem impossible. However, as I read of the people coming from all over the country, I decided there was nowhere else I wanted to be on June 9th. Her goodie bags are always a treat and the day’s activities sounded so fun! After watching the Soirée video I knew I had to make it happen. A day of learning to love myself and treat myself is just what I need. I hope to see and make friends during this very special event.
— Linda, “Mama Wilson”

I can’t wait to play at the first TDJ Soirée IN ONE month!

Make an investment in yourself, your dreams, and your spirit. You deserve it and I’m honored to be your guide on this day’s journey.

Remember, as Helen Keller wrote, “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” Let’s do this! Bisous. x

OMG, I Met Hamilton

Yesterday, after dropping Mookie at daycare, I wrangled the little ones en route to a pug takeover event in Baltimore. First stop, picked up my longtime friend, Heather, and off we went.

On the water, Sandlot offered the perfect setting for dozens (maybe hundreds?) of pugs and their guardians. Sand, cabanas, beach chairs, picnic tables, cornhole boards, and a vintage Airstream kitchen all contributed to the experience.

Exhausted from the walk to the venue, Belle Starr and Gizmo snoozed most of our time at the event (as they are doing right now as I write).

As we were leaving, a man with a black pug in a stroller asked if I wanted to make a donation to a senior dog rescue in California. Of course! We began chatting and he mentioned his dog’s name was Hamilton and a light bulb went off, could that be THE Hamilton in the shelter pet ads?!

Surely not, but he sure looks like him, I thought. Then this guardian said something else that indicated he WAS the Hamilton. I almost lost it and, of course, had to get a photo. As you see, Belle seems less than impressed.

Here’s a sweet video about Hamilton. You’ve probably seen him on highway billboards and in magazines. Over the past few years, I’ve been given a handful of the ads because people will pass them along for my art journaling and say, “Oh, this made me think of you!” And yesterday I met him!

You can follow him on Instagram. Ah, celebrity pugs. Who knew?! Bisous. x

April in Review

April in Review

Whew, well hello there, May! You’ve brought peonies and, for that, I’m incredibly grateful.

Last month was solid. I read books, wrote blog posts, released podcast episodes, hit four bookstores on Independent Bookstore Day, returned to yoga classes, took multiple ballet classes, enjoyed tea dates with friends, finalized the spring/summer TranquiliT lookbook, hit a beach in Cape May, reconnected with old friends, took Gizmo to the oncologist for a checkup, co-hosted Pigs, Pugs, and Peonies and raised $1299 for Life with Pigs Farm Sanctuary and Homeward Bound Pug Rescue, picked up apple blossoms at the farmers’ market, finished a veterinary social work module, donated my vintage camper, Miss Lillie, to charity, filed taxes (bleh), picked up impatiens, sweet potato vines, and a compost bin for the garden, and recorded new podcast interviews and YouTube videos.

As I look toward May and this summer, there’s lots of adventures ahead—another Garth Brooks concert, the Daybook release, glamping in the woods, Yoga + the Animals, TDJ Soiree, a Pignic at Farm Sanctuary, Tranquility in Tuscany, and a Tony Bennett concert. In addition to these experiences, I’ve set aside equal amounts of space for reflection, reading at home, and learning.

I’m finally finding that sweet spot between being and doing after unraveling old patterns and embracing new ones. Ah, life is nothing if not a continual growth opportunity, right?!

Wishing you a month of peonies, picnics, and process. Bisous. x
