Day 3,672: A Quick One
I love movies. So much. And I always have. My family has, actually; I got it from my mom.
When I was little, before school, my mom’s Fridays must have been Monday, because every Monday was a “Figueiredo’s” night, which was the local video rental spot. They rented VCRs in addition to tapes, which was good, because VCRs were insanely expensive and we didn’t have one. I remember, distinctly, absolutely losing my mind with excitement and impatience as she got it hooked up to our TV. Like, I could...

Day 3,671: (Almost) Friday
Man…this week has FLOWN by. It’s almost Friday. I suppose that happens when you’re a bit out of it like I have been. Not super bad, but just kinda floaty. I have stuff I want to do, stuff I want to do but don’t have to do, and it’s nigh impossible to do that kind of stuff when I feel…floaty.
Still, I do my best. Like, today I unloaded my backpack full of AV gear from the conference finally and put it all away. I also unloaded my suitcase finally and washed, folded, and put away those clothes....

Day 3,670: More Normal
A more normal day today. Thank GOD. Part of it was that I had a full workday. That always seems to set me back in rhythm. I also woke up pretty much on time. Still struggling with that. Adjusting to the new bed time and wake up time. Maybe it was also because it rained today. The first rain of “winter” in LA. Not a huge storm, but it did dump there for a bit.
The Glory books are selling well right now. Really well. Have them on a nice little sale to funnel people towards buying the latest boo...

Day 3,669: Me & The Pups
Liz is up with Joe and Madhuri and Ashika helping out this week. Baby is coming. She’s due on…Friday, I think. They induce on Saturday, if necessary. So very exciting.
I remember my brother Scott being born, but mostly I remember my brother Russell being born. I was four for Scott, so there are memories there. But I was seven for Russell, and so I remember much more. I was sleeping out in Aunt Susan and Uncle Tony’s truck with Jeremy the night Russell came. It was the middle of summer, so it ...

Day 3,668: Last But Not Least
Floating. Disjointed.
I got stuff done today. That felt good. But…I’m still floating. I feel far away. And tired. Going to bed like an hour early tonight, and it feels glorious, I have to say.
We’ve noticed that Coops’ eyes look clearer now that we’re giving him eye drops once a day. We give them to him in the evening, right before bed. He’s great at receiving them. Doesn’t try to pull away, not really. Doesn’t even flinch when we get them in. Such a sweet boy. It helps when I put them up ...

Day 3,667: Room With The Dogs
So, Joy has figured out how to make herself a nest with her blankets, and she’s SO GOOD AT IT. She was completely covered with the blankets and everything. Very proud of her. Now Coops is getting his nighttime sweater. See, we like to keep it COLD in the bedroom. At least the air. And then we’re all snug in our blankets. Comforter is ON THE BED. The most delicious time of year. The most snuggly.
A little less floaty today. I did a few things that grounded me. I got a podcast edited and posted...

Day 3,666: Floating
Floating. It was a floating kind of day. One of those first-day-home days where time doesn’t quite feel real because all the routines are messed up. But, it was a good day. Went grocery shopping. Watched the Warriors lost to the Cavaliers for the second time in a week. (I’m doubting if we have it this year…but it is still early). Got some videos uploaded from the conference. About half of them. Will do the other half tomorrow. Checked on our most recent book release; numbers seem to be pretty go...

Day 3,665: HOME!
Oh, it’s so nice to be home. Another successful conference is under the belt. Lots of changes coming for next year…including that I’ll be stepping aside to let someone else helm the streaming and recording team. The AV Club had a good run under my, Jamie, and Jen’s direction, and now those two get to carry on without me and to add someone else into the mix. There are a TON of good candidates.
It’s funny; it’s not even that I’m burned out. I was last year. Big time. But…not this year. This yea...

Day 3,664: The Deed
Another 20Books conference done. Whew! What a relief. And…the LAST 20Books conference done. This is the last one. Craig is closing up shop on the live events. Well-earned, I think. Going out on a bang. Almost 2,000 in-person attendees. Another 800 virtuals, or something like that.
It was a rousing success. My AV team did an amazing job, thank LORD. People were very, very happy this year with the live streams. They got their questions asked. We didn’t miss a session. We even got (almost) every...

Day 3,663: Oops (wiped)
I…was so wiped out yesterday, I forgot to post an entry. Oops!
It was a good day. Smooth. My team killed it. I’m so happy and proud of them.
Tomorrow (today): one more day. Let’s do it!
