Day 3,707: The North

I made it up to Portland. Whew.

Joy was good on the plane and in the airport. She got antsy here and there, for sure, but never barky. Never whiny. Only restless, which made me worried she needed to like poop or something. But, nope. It was just because she wanted me to hold her. She’s REALLY become attached to me holding her in the past couple months. I definitely want to make sure I don’t let that get out of hand, but on the plane once she’d stopped pawing asking to be let out and had kinda...

Day 3,706: That’ll Do Pig

I didn’t get everything done that I was hoping to today…but I got enough done. I’m packed and ready to go. The house is clean. I hope our friend Matt has a nice time staying here. Joy is ready to travel with me; we’ll see how she does. I think she’s going to do just fine. She’ll be anxious, I’m sure, but nothing she can’t handle. And Coops gets to hang out with Matt.

Way late. Have to get up way early. Night night.

Day 3,705: Last of the Year

Podcasted tonight. Our last one of the year. We watched A Muppet Christmas Carol, which was delightful, of course. So fun. So silly. And with such a clear message, such a clear character arc and life lesson: Christmas is about giving, not receiving. It’s about the people we love.

What a year. It’s been an intense one, that’s for sure. But a good year. Not really time yet to reflect upon that here on the blog since there’s still more of the year left, but it is on my mind since we talked about...

Day 3,704: Rain

A grey, drizzly day that turned into rain in the evening.

Feels like home.

Coops and Joy hate it, obviously. Fair weather pups as they are. I enjoy it. For a time. Went on way too long earlier this year. We didn’t have a spring because it rained for so long, and spring is usually my favorite weather time in LA. But for now, approaching the holidays, it takes me back to my childhood. Shiny streets, hissing tires, drops on the roof, and soft hair:

Night night.

Day 3,703: Loooonnngggg Daaayyyysss

Ooof. Long day. Worked until almost 10pm, a half hour ago. But…got my project into a good place. Whew. AND I have some help this week to get this stuff finished. Whew.

That’s it. Just work. Night night.

Day 3,702: What It Takes

So…yeah. Rome is pretty freaking good. Sigh. It’s just good, solid storytelling, that’s why: the wins, the losses, the secrets, the danger, excitement, and generally not knowing what’s actually going to happen to the characters, so you’re genuinely on the edge of your seat. At least with the ones who they made up for the show, or the more minor historical figures whose futures aren’t readily known, or simply aren’t because history doesn’t go that fine into the details of their everyday lives. An...

Day 3,701: Rome!

The HBO Rome series is good. I’m enjoying it. I will say this…even though that’s true, man—my takeaway whenever I watch a show like that, even Game of Thrones, is…thank god I don’t live in that world. It’s a fucking stress case. People dying left and right. Oppression as far as the eye can see, and the psychopaths are always in charge.

I get it. The real world is like that, too. I’m very privileged. Depicting a world like that is always a mirror for our true reality, the one we’d rather not s...

Day 3,700: LATE!

On day 3,700, twas a late day. A long day. But…a good day. Friday, after all! And Ira is sleeping iiinnn tomorrow.

I actually have work to do tomorrow. Stuff I wasn’t quite able to finish today. So, that’s a bummer. But, not the end of the world. I’d rather put in the extra time now as opposed to trying to cram it all in before leaving town at the end of the coming week. THIS is the weekend to do it, that’s for damn sure. So…I will.

Podcasted with Josh to wrap up the day. We watched White ...

Day 3,699: Bizzy

Sigh. This work project continues. I was really hoping to have the last of the really problematic titles done today, but I’m still missing stuff. Stuff I won’t get until tomorrow. We’ll see. I need some plugins, and my company doesn’t have licenses for them. It’s up in the air whether or not we’ll get them, or have someone else render out what I need. We. Shall. See. I got everything done that I could get done on my own, however, so that’s good. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow!

Coops and Joy g...

Day 3,698: Intention

Joy let me brush her tonight. Like, really brush her. And I realized she did because I had my intention right. My energy was in exactly the right place: calm and firm. She didn’t get to say no, but I wasn’t rough with her in any way, or amped up, or stern. Just…firm. And gentle. And she tried to say no, for sure, but she gave up very quickly when she realized it wasn’t scary, it didn’t hurt, and I wasn’t going to let her get away. She gave up fighting and just decided to lick my face, which I ga...
