Day 3,665: HOME!

Oh, it’s so nice to be home. Another successful conference is under the belt. Lots of changes coming for next year…including that I’ll be stepping aside to let someone else helm the streaming and recording team. The AV Club had a good run under my, Jamie, and Jen’s direction, and now those two get to carry on without me and to add someone else into the mix. There are a TON of good candidates.

It’s funny; it’s not even that I’m burned out. I was last year. Big time. But…not this year. This yea...

Day 3,664: The Deed

Another 20Books conference done. Whew! What a relief. And…the LAST 20Books conference done. This is the last one. Craig is closing up shop on the live events. Well-earned, I think. Going out on a bang. Almost 2,000 in-person attendees. Another 800 virtuals, or something like that.

It was a rousing success. My AV team did an amazing job, thank LORD. People were very, very happy this year with the live streams. They got their questions asked. We didn’t miss a session. We even got (almost) every...

Day 3,663: Oops (wiped)

I…was so wiped out yesterday, I forgot to post an entry. Oops!

It was a good day. Smooth. My team killed it. I’m so happy and proud of them.

Tomorrow (today): one more day. Let’s do it!

Day 3,662: Streams

It wasn’t without bumps…but the first day of the conference today was a resounding success! Whew! Such a relief. And hopefully, it’s even smoother from here on out. It should be. I have faith. I trust my team.

Dry eyes though, good lord. Got some eyedrops. That should help. Some sleep too. Sleeeeep.

Night night.

Day 3,661: Coco

Missing Coco today. I wasn’t able to make the conference last year, last minute, because Coco needed back surgery. I think that’s why she’s been on my mind a lot today. Miss you, baby girl. So much.

Today went…well, my team is amazing. OBS, on the other hand, was giving us some unexpected trouble with our headphone monitoring. NOT happy about that. Especially because it seems to be a bit of a random bug. It’s not there’s one setting buried somewhere that will make it work…it’s been random, mo...

Day 3,660: Veegas

I can’t remember the last time that I used my laptop to write a blog entry for the night. But here I am! In Vegas, too. I only get two devices on the WiFi with my room here, so it’s my laptop and my phone. Ain’t no way I’m paying that extra $15.

The conference starts tomorrow. Excitement is high. It’s going to be a great show, and I know my team is going to do a good job. We’ve trained for this! Literally 🙂 Drive was easy. No traffic. I just beat it, in fact. I heard someone in the elevator w...

Day 3,659: Travel Eve

ALMOST got everything done for Vegas. I still have four more computers to put the finishing touches on, quickly edit and post the next Film School podcast, pack, and then skedaddle.

Decent drive. Five-plus hours. But, I’ve driven it many times before. Looking forward to the show. I feel prepared. Dialed in, and very organized. Thanks to you, Bear, for helping with that tonight. Saved me a ton of time. She’s clutch like that. Labels. Laminated instructions and checklists. It’s all there. WooHo...

Day 3,658: Consistency

I do enjoy consistency. I thrive on the routine of it. Like, I really rely on my Fridays podcasting with Josh to put a period on the end of the week and kick off the weekend. I really do enjoy that. It’s consistent.

Watched a clumsy early-effort tonight from Hitch. Pieces were there, they just didn’t come together in the end. Some poor choices along the way. But, you could see it. He’s in there, somewhere, trying to figure himself out. He just has to make some more of them. And he will. We kn...

Day 3,657: Wild Beast

Joy is a wild beast. She’s currently going ham on the comforter and her new waterproof SUPER soft cozy dog blanket from Costco. Good lord she loves this blanket already. She likes burying herself inside of it and wiggling around, then chewing on my hands through it. She’s crazy.

No urine tonight. So far. In all seriousness, there won’t be. We know exactly why it happened last night: she got scared from something we did by accident and piddled. It won’t happen again. Poor babes.

I was BUSY ...

Day 3,656: Pee!

Oh boy. It finally happened. A dog has peed in the bed. Like, right on the sheets so that it got onto the mattress. We’ve gone eleven years without that happening, but tonight was the night. Joy got scared and piddled. Poor babes. But, Liz to the rescue. She has a whole regimen to get it cleaned and then suck the odor out. And in the meantime, while that does its magic, we’ll sleep in the guest room. I just set that up.

Another busy busy day today. Tomorrow will be, too. But! I got stuff done...
