Day 1,652: Back to Werk

I went “back to work” today. I put that air quotes because I’ve really been writing every day lately, even on vacation…and boy, do I have to tell you guys, that is a revelation. It’s curing my productivity woes.

I wrote almost 4,000 words on vacation. On vacation. And yes, I wrote another 2,000 today, so that’s really like two days worth of full time work, but the benefits of those 4,000 words go far beyond just the words themselves.

First off, those would have been ZERO days. No progress mad...

Day 1,651: Infinity War

Making this a quick one tonight because it’s already past 1am, and I gots writins to do tomorrow…but we finally saw Infinity War today, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend it. Whole-heartedly.

This summer could be fun, y’all. Lots of stuff on the horizon that I think might actually be good. We shall see

2018 Movie #23: Avengers: Infinity War

It took Liz and me awhile to see it because we were out on vacation…but I do have to say: it was worth the wait. What a colossal project to put together and make work…and I enjoyed it!

THE BLURB:

Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been...

Day 1,649: The Puppers

If I have one bit of wisdom to impart in terms of going on a vacation…it’s have puppers waiting for you at home. As much as it was breaking our hearts to leave Maui today–and holy bejesus was it–we were equally excited to be home and see Cooper and Coco.

Other dog parents out there, you get this. They are family, pure and simple. Being away from them is hard. We miss them.

Coco has been on my lap since she settled down. Coops has been so snuggly, too , it’s insane, and now we’re all cuddled u...

Day 1,648: Last Day in Paradise

The Ho and I are feeling rather wistful tonight; we leave Maui tomorrow, and this vacation trip becomes the memories we’ve made.

Anna Kim posted some of the photos she took yesterday just now, and it really hit home how magical this trip was. Liz opened up the sliding doors to the lanai, we turned the lights down so we don’t attract the bugs, and we sat on the edge of the bed and looked through them while we listened to the ocean waves, the palm tree leaves in the wind, and the cicadas outsid...

Day 1,647: The Best Day

Man, you guys, today was an EPIC day.

First off, happy birthday to Liz! Undoubtedly the best of days, and man…today was one for the record books. I love you, bear!

We spend the entire first half of the day down at the beach. It was sunny, hot, and gorgeous. Perfect weather to spend hours in nature’s pool, and that’s exactly what we did. Hours. I body surfed, floated, and just had a grand old time.

Then, almost in a flash, it was time to get ready for our vow renewal ceremony. Ry-n was the fir...

Day 1,646: Snorkeling

I’d never been snorkeling before today. It was SO FUN.

It took me a minute to figure out how to do it, how to breathe through the tube with me mouth nice and slow, that when water gets in, there’s a guard or something that kind of keeps it from going into your mouth/lungs if you inhale, so that you can take a deep breath and then just blow the water out…how to make sure the seal around the nose is nice and tight so water doesn’t get in there, and then how to just kind of put your head down an...

Day 1,645: Maui Sunset

We had a sunset today! A real Maui sunset!

It’s been so cloudy the whole time we’ve been here, we haven’t had the signature Hawaii blow-your-mind sunsets…UNTIL TODAY. As evidenced by the amazing photo for today. Holy crap.

So, that was taken at Merriman’s, which is a fancy restaurant up on the far north-western part of the island. It’s right on the water, obviously, and has a really cool view of the next islands over, which are Lanai and Molokai. It made for just a stuuuuning sunset. Dinner w...

Day 1,644: Magical Massage

Massages.

I get it.

I’ve only had one other one in my life so far, and it was fine. But today, my young friends…today…it was magic. The massages Liz and I got today were soooooo freaking goooood.

They were at this place in up country on Haleakala, and it was cloudy and misty up there, very windy road, it really reminded me of Humboldt to be honest, and there’s a spa attached to this bed & breakfast. We got there, and they make their own massage butters and both Liz and I chose the passion fru...
