Day 1,682: The Lost Day
So, this blog post never went up last night. I didn’t write it. It’s actually not the FIRST time it’s happened where I legitimately forgot to write the post…it’s the second, I think. But, this whole exercise of counting days really moved on from the “consecutive” or “unbroken” realm a long time ago.
So, why didn’t I post a blog last night? Yesterday was rooouuuggghhhhh. Ruff ruff.
I had the closest to a migraine yesterday I’ve ever had in my life, coupled with what felt like lock-jaw and slee...

Day 1,680: Don’t Give Up. Ever.
I’m listening to music tonight that I put into a playlist at the beginning of the year, a really rough part of the year for me. I had failed. I’d set many goals, many deadlines for my writing, and I was missing them all. It was a horrible, vicious cycle of failure and it was crushing my spirit. I wouldn’t quite say that I was losing hope, but I was definitely feeling like I wasn’t equipped with the tools to figure out a solution.
I remember feeling so frustrated. It wasn’t that long ago, just...

Day 1,679: Circles
Sometimes, my brain runs in circles when it’s trying to figure out something story related. There are so many moving parts to a story, it can be so hard to fit them all together, which is why “simple” is king. The rub is that “simple” can be hard to come by sometimes.
I’m massaging and brainstorming this one particular story thread in this book that I can just feel isn’t there yet. It’s not engaging enough yet. It’s too static. Not enough dilemma and action yet. It’s also just not exciting en...

Day 1,678: Writerly
The writing was good today!
Twas a much more relaxing day for me today, for whatever reason. Not as up tight, or anxious. I just kind of enjoyed my day.
I wrote.
I did building work.
I watched some baseball, and the movie Cargo…which I’ll do a write up on tomorrow, I guess. I forgot to do that today

Day 1,677: Dayoff
Ahhhh.
I had the day “off” today, ie- I only wrote 1,000 words, and did work around the apartment building
2018 Movie #31: Speed Racer
I remember this movie being blasted when it first came out. I never saw it. And then I read these articles over the past couple weeks about how this movie has turned into a cult classic in the ten years after its release…and it’s streaming on Netflix. I had to check it out.
THE BLURB:
Born into a family business of race cars, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is one of the track’s hot stars. Sitting at the wheel of his Mach 5, he consistently deflates the competition. When Speed turns down an offer...

Day 1,676: Burnt
Burnt myself to a crisp today. Not in a sunburn or oven kind of way. In the “my mind is fried because I wrote so much” way.
I wrote 3,000 words. More than that, actually, almost 3,500 I think. It waaas shy of 4,000 words, which was my goal, but damn. I’ve written more in the past two days than I ever have. Ever. And, I am pretty wiped out. There may be some day in the not-to-distant future where I can do that many words three days in a row, but that day is not tomorrow.
Tomorrow…for the first...

Day 1,675: 4K Day
(huh – for whatever reason this didn’t post last night)
I had an excellent writing day today, which is good news if you read my post last night
2018 Movie #30: The House
I remember seeing the trailer for this movie last year. I liked it. I wanted to see it. In retrospect, seeing it in theaters would have been a mistake. It’s not all bad, but seeing on my couch was definitely the best way to watch it.
THE BLURB:
Scott and Kate Johansen must figure out a way to earn some money after their daughter’s scholarship falls through. When all else fails, the desperate couple join forces with their neighbor Frank to start an underground casino in his home. As the cash r...
