Day 1,659: 3K Day
My streak of Mondays continued today! I wrote 3,000 words, and I did it honestly without toooo much effort. I just set my timers, and I wrote. It does help that I’m writing an interesting section of the book, where some dominoes that I’ve set up are finally falling. To be honest, that’s the weakness of this draft of the book still: not enough dominoes falling early enough in the narrative. But, that’s what rewrites are for!
I did my reading, a full hour of it, which finished off my book.
I wa...
2018 Movie #25: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
The Rock, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and the actress who plays Nebula in Guardians and Avengers…all playing high school kids trapped in adult bodies? YES. I AM IN. Full stop, wanted to see this movie since it premiered, and I was not disappointed.
THE BLURB:
Four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game’s jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – you must survive it. To beat the...

Day 1,657: Long Lost
Today was a raw day. Not sure why…it just was.
I did a lot of reading. I watched a movie, Lion, and wrote a review of it. It was an Oscar contender a couple years ago, and I can see why. It’s not a perfect movie, but what it lacks in the middle are more than made up for with the beginning and end. Go see it. It’s streaming on Netflix right now.
I just realized that I didn’t write today. I’m not going to sweat it. It’s not about keeping a streak going, it’s about committing each and every day...

2018 Movie #24: Lion
Lion is based on one of the more incredible true stories I’ve ever heard, quite frankly. Does the film live up to that incredible story? Mostly, yes.
THE BLURB:
Five year old Saroo gets lost on a train which takes him thousands of miles across India, away from home and family. Saroo must learn to survive alone in Kolkata, before ultimately being adopted by an Australian couple. Twenty-five years later, armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination, and a revolutionary te...

Day 1,656: Pickups
It was a stressful day today. And not just for me and the Ho, for pretty much everyone on in television. But, such is life in Hollywood, sigh.
I wrote good words today despite it all. Red Tower is finally, finally churning along. I’m ready for it to start sliding downhill on its own, and although that hasn’t happened yet, at least I’m picking up steam

Day 1,655: Vidz
Man, I spent all day today putting together a 10-minute video. Le sigh. That’s what it took, I suppose.
The video was worth it. It’s a very, VERY quick summary of our vacation. You have no idea. We have literally hours worth of videos and photos from that trip, and I had to distill it down into ten minutes. I’ll link to the video below

Day 1,654: Who’s Counting?
For whatever reason, it strikes me as odd this evening that I still count my blog days. It goes back to the 90-day challenge I first committed to 3-and-a-half years ago. I numbered them then to make sure I did it for 90 days, and the convention just stuck, I guess.
I don’t know how long I’ll do this daily blog. It’s certainly at a point now where the numbers are rather meaningless. Not completely, though. I do enjoy the milestones. Like, reaching 2,000 will be awesome about a year from now. E...

Day 1,653: 3k Day
Guys…I wrote 3,000 words today. Whaaaaaaaat.
Liz asked me how I did it, what was the difference? It was a combination of two things: one, writing every day for the past two weeks (?), three weeks (?), and two, I’m setting story goals instead of word- or page-count goals. Huuuuuge difference when those two are combined.
I had no idea I’d written that many words until I looked at my count before bed. And that’s exactly the way it should be. I don’t want to be checking my word count all the time...
