Day 1,693: Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to my dad, Jon Heinichen. I love you, dad! You taught me everything I need to know about being compassionate, humorous, moral, and creative. Among everything else!

Day 1,692: Have You Read My Blog

Omg. The photo for tonight is PERFECT. We went to Powell’s book store today, which is apparently the largest book store in the country (?), and it’s so cool. I’ve written about it before. Three floors of an entire city block, books, new, old, amazingness…

…and apparently trophies. Because, why not? And there was a trophy called “Have you read my blog?” And I love it

Day 1,691: Swank

We made it to Portland! And we are staying in a very swanky hotel. Their motif here is Tiffany blue, it would seem. Lots of Tiffany blue

Day 1,690: Packed

Taking a little trip tomorrow! We’re headed up to Portland with some friends of ours. Liz just wrapped on a project, and it’s as good a time as any for me to get out of town, too for a couple days. Nothing crazy. Just the weekend. Looking forward to some good food and some good company. Get to see my bro, and J, too

Day 1,689: Comfort Zone

So much of what I’m doing right now is outside of my comfort zone.

I realize that’s where the “magic” in life happens, when we push out our boundaries, grow, learn, and experience new things…but it does take its toll. It’s hard work to do that shit!

Day 1,688: So Much

Jeepers Creepers. I feel like I lived three lives today. Just today.

First of all, I got up, did my morning stuff, and sat down to hammer out the 1,600-ish words I needed to hit my goal for the day…and did it. Like a boss. Good words, too. This sequence is exciting. It’s fun. It has explosions.

THEN…Josh came over and we watched Star Trek: Insurrection. Noooot one of the best Star Trek movies. Unfortunately. I won’t spoil our full thoughts on the movie, particularly Josh’s, but let’s just say...

Day 1,687: Where I’m At

I wrote another 2,600 words today. Definitely was short of my goal, however…even though Josh is coming over tomorrow for some TG1T recording, I have enough time before that to whip out 1,400 before he gets here, which will put me at my goal for the three days.

That’s the new strategy for now: 4K on Monday and Tuesday, a day “off” on Wednesday, which will just be cleanup on whatever I fall short from, or a quick 500 words or so (ie- sticking with no days off. That stays. Forever, I think), the...

Day 1,685: thumbin it

Writing on ye olde iPhone tonight for whatever reason. Didn’t feel like hauling down the iPad.

Liz has to get up reealllyyyy early for her call tomorrow, so I’ll make this quick: I had a good day with the pups, and with my writing. Not super productive…but good.

Tomorrow is going to be a productive day. I’m going to hit 4,000 words tomorrow.

See you then

Day 1,684: Tony and Dubs

Today was a tale of two…tales.

Anthony Bourdain died by suicide today, and the Warriors won the Finals for the second year in a row, and the third time in four years.

Suicide is always a very personal matter for me. My youngest brother died by suicide back in 2006. He was 17. Reading people’s thoughts on suicide, depression, and losing loved ones always makes me think of him, and how I wish I knew what to say or do to help him. I wish we all knew exactly what to do or say to prevent someone f...
