Day 2,590: Snuggle Brigade
LA continues to inch closer towards a full lockdown.
You can still go shopping. That makes no goddamn sense. Otherwise, the “don’t leave your house unless it’s an essential activity” guidelines make a whole lot of sense to me. It’s what Liz and I have been doing since this thing began, with a couple very, very small exceptions (I podcasted with Josh, Liz took care of our goddaughter and saw KBear once a week).
But, not everyone has taken the pandemic guidelines of “don’t do stuff” as stric...

Day 2,589: Pops
Treats = Snuggles
If you’re not bringing the treats, Coco’s not bringing the snuggles. It’s simple math.
Work was a little hectic today. Nothing too crazy, but I didn’t get done everything I wanted to. Writing was great in the morning, and didn’t happen in the afternoon bc of the work chaos. That’s my biggest area of improvement, right there: making sure I get my afternoon sessions in. Morning is easier. Nothing has gotten complicated yet. Afternoons…dicey.
At some point I want to trans...

Day 2,588: Collector
A normal day.
I should be putting that in quotes, because the “normal” day hasn’t been normal lately at all. They’ve been the exception. Not today! I was able to get everything done I needed to. Blessed be.
I have a mountain of work ahead of me with work. Yikes. I think I can do it all, but I will be bussssyyyy. That’s a bit daunting. But, yo…the writing was great today. I know I’ve been working on the damn thing for half the year now, but this opening to my new book is finally, FINALLY wo...

Day 2,587:
I’m ready to go back to work.
Talked with my therapist about that today…I’ve needed the past few days off, and a week of work that wasn’t so crazy, just to get my feet back underneath me, to get a semblance of routine back.
Routine has been tough to come by for the last three months. And for good reasons! This project Liz and I are working on, for example: good stuff. SUCH good stuff. Great stuff. But, it is hectic, it is a time commitment. And that takes a toll on my routine. I wish I was...

Day 2,586: Reading
Feeling the itch to read tonight. I don’t always feel like reading. I go through phases. Tonight, I feel like reading.
Got a couple books going right now, lol. One is a Trek book. Not that great. Bummer, since it’s from an author whose older stuff I really, really love. This one is not exactly new, but new-ish. Not great so far. The other is a friend’s book that I’m reading to help give some feedback on. Enjoying it! Genuinely.
I had a really solid day today. Got some podcast editing stuff...

Day 2,585: Floating
Had a bit of a “floaty” day today.
Didn’t really do anything. Slept in (super late, actually). Had a wonky night’s sleep for whatever reason. But…it was a good day. I got to play music. Hang out with Liz and the pups. Eat leftovers. Watch the finale of the Great British Baking Show. One of our favorites won! I even watched a little basketball from last year just to remember what a few of the Warriors players were like.
Not sure if they’re going to be good this year, the Warriors. They’re m...

Day 2,584: Thanks
Today, I am grateful for my friends and my family. You make it all worth it, you really do. That’s definitely something I have learned as I’ve grown older. We can’t take each other for granted.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal today. We ate early because we did it outside and we didn’t want to get cold. And it was windy today! Cold in the shade. Nice and warm in the sun. We spent it with Arg and Kristen, who are also working from home right now, so that felt pretty low-risk.
What a yea...

Day 2,583: Moar Treats
Coco is currently staring—STARING—at Liz, hoping for more treats before bed. She’s so freaking food-obsessed. That’s why I love her. She knows what she wants.
Both pups have been SO snuggly lately. Especially the Coops. He usually sleeps down on the floor in his bed over on Liz’s side, but lately he’s been curled up right in between us, usually pressed super hard against my leg for warmth.
I love sleep. I really do! I love it. I love the feeling of falling asleep. I love waking up and goin...

Day 2,582: Umbrella Fitzgerald
Podcasted tonight. The last recording session of 2020! Insane. Still cannot quite wrap my head around the fact the year is over. It’s been both the longest gd year of my life, and gone by in the blink of an eye.
Casting was great, a really truly great one to end the year on. Great film. Won’t say which one because it’s a surprise. Great year on the podcast too, man. Really REALLY learned a lot and made big strides forward in my understanding of good storytelling.
Back to work tomorrow. Tha...

Day 2,581: Security
Black Friday deals have struck.
I can’t help but think about the very distinct possibility that Los Angeles is heading for another full shutdown, and holiday shopping is right around the corner…which would all but shut it down, apparently for three weeks.
What crazy times we’re living in. And, no, not because it crazy on the face of it that we wouldn’t be able to SHOP…no, I mean that as economically driven as a country we are, that things have gotten so bad with a health crisis that we’d a...
