Day 2,621: Change is Hard
Change is hard.
For some reason, that thought floated into my head just now as I sat down to write this entry. And, it is. Sometimes really hard, because we fight it for so long. And then, it’s not. If we can ever reach the point where we stop fighting, change just is.
I am changing. I don’t know exactly how, to be honest. I don’t feel as though I’ve changed at all, really. But, I think that means I’m fighting it still. I want to change. And, I won’t be obscure about the change I’m referri...

Day 2,620: Feeling Ready
Feeling ready for this new year. Truly.
I had a great day today. A *great* day. My bike, you guys, it’s dope. I love it. So much. I haven’t had a bicycle since 2001, when it got stolen from my campus apartment at HSU the very first month I moved there. 20 years.
I used to ride my bike everywhere. That summer, I rode my bike to work and back and everywhere else I went. I think I even had a car, but I liked riding my bike. It saved me gas. And then someone swiped it (because I stupidly tried...

Day 2,619: Farewell 2020
Farewell 2020. You were…well, dumpster fire is the descriptor that first comes to mind. But, if I’m being honest and encompassing, not all of 2020 was a lost cause. Not even close.
I will say this: I am looking forward to 2021. Genuinely. Whole-heartedly. 2021 is going to be a good year, I think. I hope.
Changes are coming. Ones I’m excited about. Excited to TALK about, sometime soon. And…much is staying the same. For good, too. Things that are working.
Liz and I spent the night watchin...

Day 2,618: Boop
Man…I did it.
I wanted to finish my friend’s book with notes today, and I did it! I finished it. The whole thing. Chris: I finished reading your book today! I quite enjoyed it, and I’m so very much looking forward to chatting with you about it!
It feels like a long while since I set a goal like that and actually accomplished it. I take it as a good tiding of breakthroughs to come, one little tiny one at a time.
That was pretty much my day. Took breaks in between reading/note-taking sess...

Day 2,617: Up Late with Bae
Stayed up late again to finish a true crime series with bae.
This one was called Love Fraud, and it was SO GOOD. It’s about this guy who would seduce women, several at a time, and then take all their money and disappear. Literally dozens of times he’d done this, and he’d been physically abusive with at least one of them. Great doc. Highly recommend. It has a very satisfying ending, too.
It’s been really fun having the time off and doing this kind of stuff together., staying up late and wat...

Day 2,616: Lost Day
Today was one of those “lost days,” but not the bad kind. The kind where you’re taking time off and the day just kind of…floats by. You can blink and it’s already almost over.
Sometimes those days make me anxious. But, not today. Today, I just kind of let it happen, and enjoyed the feeling of timelessness. I took a nap. I watched TV with Liz. We finished that murder series. It was good. Effin dirty cops. We’re watching a new one now—true crime, but not murder this time—about a dude who’s defr...
Day 2,615: All Done
Late night tonight. Stayed up watching a show about MURDER together.
It’s called “Murder in the Bayou” and it’s preeeetttyyyy fascinating so far. Was on Showtime. Now on Prime. Highly recommend.
It’s also raining right now! Always love it when that happens

Day 2,614: Christmas II
Today was kind of “second Christmas” because today was the day I FaceTimed with my family and we all opened each other’s gifts. To cut down on cost, since the family is already large, and has grown, we do a Secret Santa gift exchange. I got Lena this year, and she nailed it. Got me exactly what I wanted. Thanks, Lena

Day 2,613: Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, everyone. I hope your day today was wonderful.
Mine was. Truly. I miss my family terribly, but I was still able to connect with them over all the distance. And, it’s wonderful to spend Christmas in your own home. I love traveling, too. I love both.
We watched Wonder Woman 84 and it was…disappointing. Not nearly the film the first one was. There were bits here and there, yes. And it did have the right thing to say in the end, particularly about grief. But overall, the execu...

Day 2,612: Someone Fell
Merry Christmas Eve!!!
Christmas manages to sneak up on me every year, but this year in particular it really did. It’s usually the trip up north to see family that makes it start to set in, but we’re not able to do that this year, so I didn’t get that prompt.
Meanwhile, upstairs in the apartment above us, a party rages on, well past midnight. They’ve honestly been fine. Not too much of a disturbance. We can definitely hear them, especially when they were running—literally running—around ju...
