Day 2,550: The King

Watched King Kong with J tonight for the cast. I’d never seen it!

It was truly impressive, still plays to this day. It’s also suuuuper duper racist.

Work was great today. Rocked it. Very very productive this week. That was nice. Even had a great writing session this morning.

Now…sleep

Day 2,549: My Addiction

Guys, I have an addiction…

I don’t think I’ve talked about it before.

I am addicted to…

…animal rescue videos.

It’s true! I’ll see the little notification of a new one on the Facebook app, and I can’t help myself. I’ll spend the next 2-3 minutes watching the story of an animal that starts desperate and fucked up and see them transform into a happy, healthy animal by the end. I can’t not stop and watch it, and I always feel the same thing in the beginning—shock, horror, anger, and emp...

Day 2,548: Systems

Works was baller today.

I use systems a lot when I’m working. I order things by where the choke points are going to be time-wise, and I proactively think of how I can avoid wasting the time at those choke points. It…makes a huge difference I think in how long it takes me to do things.

Granted, that kind of thinking can run amok, and it has in areas of my life like writing, for example…but it’s also one of my greatest strengths. I can see down the road and anticipate a problem or a delay be...

Day 2,547: So Pretty

What a day! So freaking busy.

But…I got it all done. Even had a nice writing session to begin the day. And speaking of…I need to go to sleep here quickly if I want to have the same tomorrow.

Night night. Keep that shit tight.

Day 2,546: Girl

Writing my entry tonight at my computer desk because I’m still finishing up some work. Didn’t HAVE to get this work done tonight, I could have done it tomorrow, but I’d rather get ahead, even if I don’t have to. Just makes me feel better during the work day

Day 2,545: Nice To Meet You

I think I’ve finally got my head around one of my characters in the new book I’m writing. I think I know who he is, now. I got to meet him for the first time tonight.

That’s an exhilarating thing. It’s one of the reasons I write full-stop, for moments like that when I get to “meet” someone from my imagination. It can take a while sometimes, like it has here. But, I think I’ve got him. And he’s great.

Bit of an odd day. I decided to finish reading The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks. Wasn’t a bi...

Day 2,544: The Edge

Just did a little writing.

I’ve fallen off on my writing before bed sessions, too. Sigh. It happens, you know? This stuff happens. Life happens. Routines get messed up. I’m trying to get better at letting that go, and just starting again.

I *am* getting better at starting again. Just turn the page. Start small, and then keep going. It works.

Listening to Gravel Road right now. James Newton Howard. It’s easily my favorite piece of soundtrack music/contemporary classical music. It’s godda...

Day 2,543: Friday Night Flicks

Did a Friday Night Flick with Josh. That’s what I’m calling them now. Just decided.

Podcasting was great. Love it. Learning so much about movies and myself. Work was great today, too, though the writing wasn’t to be had. More from fatigue, really, but that’s okay. I’ll get back. Gonna dust myself off and get back at it on Monday. This happens.

Pups are good.

Life is good.

Night.

Day 2,542: Stalled

Progress was stalled today.

I’ve turned a corner with the writing itself. I really have. But I’ve yet to turn the corner on consistency and volume of work. Still struggling with that.

Today was more struggle than it was winning. I set that up poorly with staying up so late last night to finished off watching Bly Manor with Liz. Which…was worth it. Sharing it with her, at least. Not so much the show itself. The show was…well, rather dull in the end. Perhaps that’s too harsh. It was fine. Bu...

Day 2,541: Au-pair

We finished The Haunting of Bly Manor. It was…

Fine.

Not great. Definitely not great. But it did land a few things here and there. We had fun watching it.

Busy day tomorrow. It’s way past bed time. Going to sleep
