Day 2,570: Everest

I have an interesting obsession with Everest.

It’s not what you’d think. I have no desire to ever climb that damn thing. Genuinely. I mean, would it be cool to take a tram up there and see the sights? Or take a day hike? Sure…but that is essentially the ONLY way I’d ever make a trip up there, and that is never going to happen. Everest might as well be the moon.

I mean…I’d take a trip to the moon. But, not Everest. So, no. It’s not an obsession about climbing Everest.

I have an obsession...

Day 2,569: Plan of Attack

Tomorrow…

I have to get up on time.

I have to get up on time so I can get in my writing session in the morning, and come up with a plan of attack.

That’s the goal. A plan. I have a bit of year left, things are calming down ever so slightly. I can do some things. I want to do some things. I’m feeling excited to do some things.

Soundtrack music really is the tits. It was rather random, but it’s what was on my Spotify playlist as I sat down to write this entry…but I’m listening to the s...

Day 2,568: Unwind

Today was about winding down.

Been spun up so much the past couple weeks. Particularly the past week. Today was time to slow down, spend some quality time with Liz and the pups, and to reset. Recharge.

Mission accomplished.

Busy week ahead, but I feel like I’m in a much better headspace.

Lots to do. So much. But…I’m excited about all of it, actually. Finally.

Night.

Day 2,567: Morning!

I was lying in bed last night feeling the downward pull of sleep when I realized that I hadn’t yet written my journal entry for the day. Oops.

I decided rather than interrupted that sweet sweet sleep, I’d write it in the morning. So. Here we are. Good morning!

If there is one thing I enjoy about the switch from daylight time back to “normal” time, it’s that if I wake up at the same point I was waking up at before the switch, it’s suddenly an hour earlier according to the clock. Hear me out...

Day 2,566: Quiet

It’s quiet tonight.

Gonna be a couple days of that, which shiiiit…so very very needed.

The pups are cozy. So are the bears (that’s Liz and I). It’s cold, which we both love because we grew up in a part of California where it GETS cold during the winter time. We both miss that to a certain degree, while at the same time loving that it’s always warm and sunny in LA.

Some day, I hope we can have a place to call our own in LA, Maui, and Portland. That’s the dream. We can get all the weather...

Day 2,565: The Thing

Tonight, I find myself about how important it is to remember what “the thing” is.

For me, it’s writing. Books. Books are “the thing.” That’s what I’m reaching for. That’s my pursuit. And, sometimes, that gets lost.

Not exactly that it’s lost right now. Really, it’s watching The Queen’s Gambit that’s making me think about “the thing.” The thing drives everything. Everything comes from it. And everything can be a lot of other, very interesting, very distracting things…but all those other thi...

Day 2,564: Whadda Week

Omg. What a WEEK. Two of them in a row, now, where I worked well over 50 hours. Blech. Super busy right now. But…that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Looking forward to a weekend off. Need it.

Man…my brain is MUSH right now. Oof. Podcasted with J. It was the dopest, as always. Had a great time. Pups are great. Panda’s great.

Life is good.

Sleep, now.

Day 2,563: Hive Sea Knee Off

Pretty sure we’re all going to wake up tomorrow with Biden being announced as the next president of the United States. And, with the runoff in Georgia, a shot at tying the senate with Kamala as the tie-breaker.

Turnout was the strongest in the US since the 1900 election, I think. Pretty astonishing. It goes to show that if there is disruption, people WILL get involved in politics. We have to.

Do I think if Hillary had been president that the COVID outbreak wouldn’t have happened? No. I’m n...

Day 2,562: Don’t Talk Politics

This is not the place for politics.

Politics are best discussed calmly and rationally, and ended with agreeing to disagree. Better yet: don’t talk about politics full-stop. Nothing good ever comes from it. Everyone just needs to calm down, chill out, see the humanity in the other side, and go about our daily lives.

I’ve seen a lot of online posts to this effect over the past few days and weeks. It’s always from my cis, straight, white friends and family. And I have to tell you, white frien...

Day 2,561: Limbo

It was not decisive tonight.

It was not a rebuke.

If Trump is to be elected out of office, it will almost certainly be in razor-thin fashion. Chances are, at this point, he won’t be. He’ll once again be elected president.

The predictions of a blue wave were wrong.

Fuck.

I don’t know my country any more. I really don’t. And it makes me sick.

But…I still have some hope. Let’s see those mail-in ballots make a difference.

More in the days and weeks to come…

Night.
