Day 4,279: Joy I’m Going To Bed
I think I just broke Joy’s heart. She wanted to dig. To play blanket monster. But I just told her in a very final, stern, papa-like voice that I was going to bed.
She legit understood me, y’all. She knew exactly what I was trying to communicate to her, because she just laid down with a GIANT sigh and is now starting to fall asleep.
Dogs are the best. That’s the tweet.
Another successful day of writing. Got all my pages done. Getting cloooooser to the final act. The final 25% or so. Almo...

Day 4,278: Gobble
Andor: Season 2 was…meh. It wasn’t terrible. I truly mean that. But it was a far, far, cry from Season 1. To the point where I kinda wish they just hadn’t made it at all. After getting their four-season plan scrapped by the studio, I do actually wish they’d just have walked away rather than trying to do what they did, which was three or four seasons smashed into one (but, was it really? bc in the end, it hardly felt like anything happened until the final couple episodes).
Sigh.
Mediocre. P...

Day 4,277: Nine Twenty Three Plus
It’s gonna be a short entry tonight, but only because I want to do some reading before the sleeps and its already almost time.
Very productive day. Got all my writing done. Got all my Netflix work done, and it was a lot to get done today…but did it within normal hours. Whew! And took care of a few items on my anxiety list that I’d been putting off for no good reason.
Pups are good.
Liz is chuckling to herself in the bathroom listening to Dungeon Crawler Carl.
Life is good.

Day 4,276: Grit
A proper day off today. Whew. I needed it. I even got some work done out in the front yard. The hole is finally large enough for the entire parking space. Now, I have to level it, making sure it’s a consistent 4 inches deep everywhere. Then, I put down weed barrier and screw together the border. And then: it’s just the gravel. Get that delivered, compacted, and then the nice gravel on top and presto prango…I finally have a proper parking space. It will be soooooo nice. Can’t wait. Still lots of ...

Day 4,275: Pilcrow
It was…a wonky day off, somehow. I enjoyed it, don’t get me wrong. It was just…floaty, I guess. I did a bunch of random stuff including getting my car washed, buying a hand soil tiller and a pick axe so I can work on the front yard in the morning, I read Shakespeare, watched a movie, took care of the dogs all day, wrestled with the Film School footage before finally figuring out how actually to do it…but upstairs it was floaty.
Hope tomorrow is a grounded day off. We’ll see. Rest is necessary...

Day 4,274: Shane!
We watched Porco Rosso tonight for the ‘cast. It was…fun. Charming. Some beautiful art…but I think it might actually be Miyazaki’s first ever swing and a miss. It’s hard to figure out what he was going for, actually, like, thematically, which is interesting because each movie before it has been so clear what it has to say. Porco was muddled. Even the story is surprisingly thin and sometimes almost non-existent. But, it is fun. There’s still more to like than there isn’t, no doubt. It’s just, yea...

Day 4,273: Outside
Sitting outside right now while Snacks and Joy run around together because they didn’t get to earlier in the evening. They’re so funny. They’re completely at ease with each other. The trust is absolute. They’re family. It’s because they met each other at just the right age. Snacks was still a kitten, albeit a bit older than Joy, and Joy was a baby. Like, she was a month and a half old. So she was completely non-threatening, and Snacks was an only child, so he was dying for companionship his own ...

Day 4,272: Two Nine Four
I’m surprised it hasn’t been a struggle this week. I was tired today…but I got my writing done pretty much on automatic. I’m flyin’. Almost 300 pages. I’ll hit that landmark tomorrow. And almost into act three, ie- the last 25% of story, where all the showdowns happen. Not quite there, but almost. Which means, I think, this book will end up right around 450 pages, which is what I hoped it would. That was the length of the last one.
It’s the multiple POVs. That’s what makes these books so long...

Day 4,271: Tacro
Another day of crank. God, wasn’t meth called ‘crank’ for a hot minute, there in like the 80s or something? I think it was meth. I do not mean meth. I mean PAGES, baby. Another 12 today. And I got all my Netflix work done, AND significant progress on putting together the Criterion Closet video for Film School. Some real editing on that one! Lots of footage. Lots of great discussion.
Wiped, though. Back at it tomorrow.
Snacks was gone almost all day today. Still, right now, tonight, he’s no...

Day 4,270: Mr. Silk
Got the writing done today. Woot! I have this feeling that this week might be a little bit of a struggle…but that I’m going to get my shit done anyway. Just have that feeling. And then hopefully next week the feeling will be: this week is gonna be a breeze. But right now, this week…it’s gonna be work. Work I will get done.
270 pages today. Feeling like there’s probably about 200 more pages to go, so I’m well over half way through, which is amazing. Good book, too. Exciting. I hope. Last one g...
