Day 4,319: Sun

What’s my favorite time of day?

From 10am to noon. If I’m watching sports during that time, HEAVEN. Oh, I love it so much. Beyond that, just the time block itself is always my favorite, even when I’m working. That’s the time where all the business of the pre-morning has been done. I’ve written my pages, I’ve walked the dogs, and I’m eating breakfast, ready to start the rest of the day in good shape.

Next favorite? Oh, how I love taking a nap anywhere from about 2:30 to 4pm. In that window...

Day 4,318: Dodge

Didn’t do any work today, really. I spent it with Liz for the most part, which we haven’t done in a little while. That was really, really nice. Like, I wanted to finish Richard III. I’d read up to Act Five, but I hadn’t the time to actually finish it. So, I wanted to do that after we took a really long nap and I’d sync’d up the podcast footage from Friday so it was ready for editing—the extent of the “work” I did this weekend…

Usually I read out in my office. But Liz suggested that, instead, ...

Day 4,317: Stinky Broder

Tell about the last thing I got really excited about.

This is an easy one: my birthday! I’m doing a little backyard movie night. It’s gonna be grand. I loooooooove doing backyard movie nights. We just haven’t done a ton of them lately because our front and backyards have kinda been a disaster. But, we’re getting that under control! It’s move night time! I want to do them every summer, in fact. Wouldn’t that be fun? I bought a speaker system for it a couple years back, and a screen, too. Proje...

Day 4,316: Mermaid

A late Friday, as per usual. We watched Ponyo tonight, which I’d seen before when it first came out. I liked it more this second time around, which isn’t to say I didn’t like it the first time around. I did. I just remember feeling…underwhelmed by it? This time, I definitely “got it” more. The animation style. The main characters. The riff on The Little Mermaid. But, mainly that he wanted to make a KIDS’ movie. I think what he ended up making was far more a movie for adult’s inner-child…but his ...

Day 4,315: Blerg

So…apparently arc fault breakers are a freakin scaaaaammmmm y’all. Wow. We had three of them fail within 24 hours. Three completely separate circuits. Electrician out almost all day trying to figure out what in the heck was happening. I definitely think the heat today was part of it, but those breakers are rated for outside. Three of them went kaput. One, two, three. Just like that. Insane.

Work was busy today! Busy busy busy. Plus people in the house meant it was an unexpectedly intense day....

Day 4,314: Arc Fault

A well-used circuit in our house has an arc fault. We tried figuring out what was triggering it today to no avail…only to realize that there were more outlets on that circuit! One of which is a on and off flickering bedside lamp! Might be it. Won’t know until we test it tomorrow. I’m hopeful. My first thought, in fact, was that it was this other old lamp of ours. It was the first thing I tested. Plugged it in and the circuit was fine, lol. It’s tricky. Didn’t seem to be any one device being plug...

Day 4,313: Rotisserie

Making it a quick one tonight because I’m writing on my phone…Joy has decided to annex my lap, so no iPad with keyboard folio tonight, folks. Just Joy.

Got the parking space all leveled. Put down the weed barrier. Don’t think I’ll get anything done tomorrow morning, though, because a project came in for work that I’ll need to bust my booty for. Super fast turnaround needed for it.

Night night!

Day 4,312: Premiere Day

Got up early and worked on the front yard. It was SWEATY work. But, better super early as opposed to when it actually gets hot. Still leveling. One corner left, though I think it will take a decent amount of work. The yard isn’t level, you know? It slopes down towards the street. But our driveway is level, and that’s where the parking space starts from so…I dunno. I think I’m just going to make it level and then kinda grade the dirt around it. We’ll see. It’s not like we get a ton of rain here a...

Day 4,311: Matches

Played catch with Wolfie today. I taught him how to do a full pitcher’s wind-up. He loved that. He wanted to do it the whole time after I showed him how. And he did good with it, too! He really liked how hard he could throw the ball with it. I taught him, too, that you want to aim your mitt where you’re throwing to, and not take your eye off the target during the entire motion. That also really helped. He really enjoyed it. He’s enjoyed every time we’ve played a sport together, but I can tell he...

Day 4,310: Back at it

Back at it tomorrow, y’all. This front yard project needs to get DONE. Got to. So, I’m getting up early (on time) and getting my ass out there before the sun breaks through the morning overcast-ness, and this parking space is gonna be leveled. Then, later in the day, I’ll put the border in and screw it all together. Well, put down the weed barrier first. THEN screw the 4x4s together. Then this week, I need to order the gravel and have it delivered. Means I’ll be compacting that shit in the heat,...
