Day 4,253: Gonna Be

Miyazaki is a g. He just is. Hits. Nothing inept in his entire catalogue. There’s a baseline level of awesomeness in literally everything he’s ever done, and I just respect that so hard. So, yeah. It’s really, really fun watching him for the podcast.

Anyway…it’s late now. Wiped. Need sleep. Gooooob night.

Day 4,252: Ages

Sunny is with us. I think it might have been this same time last year when the Kings went out of town for a while, but Sun-sun is in the house, Joy is beside herself with excitement, and we are too. She’s a big dog compared to what we’re used to, but not that big. Like…2/3 of a German Shepherd. She’s a Norwegian Elk Hound. So soft. So loud. And very, very sweet. She’s great.

Had a little lickems session with Silky and Bruce out on the front stoop tonight! I squeeze the fish purée, they lick. ...

Day 4,251: Sunderland

Did you know that cats don’t really meow at each other? It’s not a social behavior they exhibit amongst each other, naturally, all that often if at all…with one exception: kittens meow to their mom. That’s basically it. So, when my kitties meow at me—I think they think I’m mom. Basically. Because I feed them. And give them pats, which kind of feel like licks.

I think that’s just wonderful.

What a long, looooong day y’all. Whew. But I got a massive project done. Which is a relief. And I thi...

Day 4,250: The Beat That My Heart Skipped

Does anyone remember Scroobius Pip? Was just thinking about him the other day.

It’s late, so I gotta run…but I got pages done today. Need to do it again tomorrow.

Night night!

Day 4,339: I Left My Heart

I think we’ve lost one of our kitties. Nobody has seen Nugget now for a week. A week tomorrow, I think. She’s never been away this long, and that makes me very sad. She’s a “community” kitty, meaning a stray, but she wasn’t exactly feral. Or, at least, she’d made strides. I’ve been able to pet her while feeding her for about a year now, and she had the loudest purr and the tiniest little body underneath all her fluff. Mother to Chloe, sister to Bingo, she was a gray ragdoll. The sweetest meow. S...

Day 4,338: A Show

I had the day I needed today. Chilled. Got the food I need for the week. Took a knock-out, what-time-is-it nap around midday. Showered. Feeling nice and clean in our new bed sheets. Shoutout to Bear for doing that. Did laundry. And got our latest podcast episode up.

Feels good. I think I really need another full day like today…but it will have to do. It will do.

Time for bed. It’s late. Night night.

Day 4,337: Gotta Move

I…have so much writing work to do. It’s exciting, don’t get me wrong…but it is a lot. Two books. I was just thinking about it, just now: I basically need to have this free giveaway ready by the time our next book comes out, which means I need to BOOGIE on it. I can do it, though. I really can. Just gotta put in the time and effort.

I can do this!

Burned out. Crazy week. Need sleep. Need things to slow down for a bit. And I think I’m going to get that chance over the next couple weekends? I...

Day 4,336: Into

Late! As per usual on a Friday night. We podcasted. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind was the film, Miyazaki’s second, and it brought it. Incredible how much of him is in that film, how much he’s the director already we all know and love. I remember watching it for the first time and being, like, ‘daaaammn, there he is, already, doing his thing.’ Loved it. So did Josh. Spoiler.

Work was so busy today. So busy this week. But, we’re getting stuff done. It’ll be busy again next week, but hopefu...

Day 4,335: Brilliant

I feel a million miles away from my writing right now. Sigh. It’s only been a week, I guess, but it feels soooo much more. Especially since I was going to be sending new pages over to my cowriter tomorrow. Sigh. It’s just been insanely insanely busy. Wildly busy. I feel like this past week has been three whole weeks.

Sunday. That’s my target day to get back into the swing of things writing-wise. I’ll be a much happier person once I go that. Hit the 200 page mark, then the 250 page mark the fo...

Day 4,334: Bootie

Late already so I be making this a quick one, but a solid day today. Netflix is busy busy busy so it was getting that stuff done, helping Liz prepare for an audition, taking care of the pups, and sneaking in a very brief 15 minute snooze after lunch, just to keep me from falling asleep at my desk.

Le sigh.

Looking forward to a nice long stretch of normal schedule. Whew. Night night.
