Chuck Wendig is a novelist, a screenwriter, and a freelance penmonkey.
He has contributed over two million words to the roleplaying game industry, and was the developer of the popular Hunter: The Vigil game line (White Wolf Game Studios / CCP).

He, along with writing partner Lance Weiler, is a fellow of the Sundance Film Festival Screenwriter's Lab (2010). Their short film, Pandemic, will show at the Sundance Film Festival 2011, and their feature film HiM is in development with producer Ted Hope.

Chuck's novel Double Dead will be out in November, 2011.

He's written too much. He should probably stop. Give him a wide berth, as he might be drunk and untrustworthy. He currently lives in the wilds of Pennsyltucky with a wonderful wife and two very s

See, here's the trick: publishing is slow, but it picks up as you gain a little steam in your career. In the earlier interstitial spaces when you're playing that least exciting of games, THE WAITING GAME, just write more. Because that gives you more ammunition for your Word Cannon when the time comes that publishers say, "Hey, that other thing worked for us: what else you got?"

And, some of that work? Publish it in your own. That'll keep a trickle-or-flow of interest and income in the meantime.

In the interim of all that: travel, live life, enjoy it, have new experiences. Because you also need new stuff to write about, and Capital-L-Life will give you new things to fuel your penmonkeying.(less)

Apple Review #36: Granny Smith

It is the day of the giving of thanks, a holiday that is ostensibly problematic in its origin but kind of nice and pure in its current form — it’s a celebration only minimally about buying things and ultimately about sitting down with friends and family to a stupidly caloric starch-bomb meal, often concluding with some manner of pie.

(I suggested on Bluesky that the ultimate form of Thanksgiving mi

“Write as much as you can.
As fast as you can.
Finish your shit.
Hit your deadlines.
Try very hard not to suck.”
Chuck Wendig

“Here are the two states in which you may exist: person who writes, or person who does not. If you write: you are a writer. If you do not write: you are not. Aspiring is a meaningless null state that romanticizes Not Writing. It’s as ludicrous as saying, “I aspire to pick up that piece of paper that fell on the floor.” Either pick it up or don’t. I don’t want to hear about how your diaper’s full. Take it off or stop talking about it.”
Chuck Wendig

“Creativity needs time. We’re all dying. Fuck stagnation. High-five creation.”
Chuck Wendig
