Louise Hallam - "Do what brings you joy."

Today I'm sharing some insight for finding fulfillment, forging meaning, and making an impact from an inspiring difference-maker living her legacy. Louise Hallam is an intuitive consultant and spiritual teacher. Catch our entire conversation here.

[LOUISE] "There are so many, but I think as a starting point... I think it's... we discover the things that really bring joy into your life."

"Because the things that bring you joy are often the things that can spark that passion, purpose, and potential."

"But we've become, you know, we got very serious at some point."

"So, yeah, do what brings you joy, and the rest will appear."

Louise made a strong case for engaging with what brings you joy (as opposed to the much-overrated happiness). How might you do what brings you joy today?

DeAnne Gauya - "You must learn one thing..."

Today I'm sharing some insight for finding fulfillment, forging meaning, and making an impact from an inspiring difference-maker living her legacy. DeAnne Gauya is the Creative Energetic Orchestrator at GauyaFit. Catch our entire conversation here.

[DEANNE] "This is one of the most inspirational poems that I've found. It's from David Whyte's 'House of Belonging.'"

[SCOTT] "Oh, I love that!"

[DEANNE]  "And I have gone back to this over and over when I've had doubts within myself." "

"It's called 'Sweet Darkness.'"

"'When your eyes are tired, the world is tired also."

"When your vision is gone, no part of the world can find you."

"Time to go into the dark where the night has eyes to recognize its own."

"There you can be sure you are not beyond love."

"The dark will be your womb."

"Tonight the night will give you a horizon further than you can see."

"You must learn one thing. The world was made to be free in."

"Give up all the other worlds except the one to which you belong."

"Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet confinement of your own aloneness to learn that anything or anyone that does not bring you alive is too small for you.'"

DeAnne just shared some powerful insight and inspiration about belonging. How might you "Give up all the other worlds except the one to which you belong," today?

All You Need to Be a Truly Happy Human

Intention and integrity are words I frequently use in my work helping retirees start and scale fulfilling online lifestyle businesses that help fund their retirement.

But what do intention and integrity really mean?

An intention is an aim established for purposeful action.

Intentions are made on purpose, with purpose, and for a purpose.

Intentions determine your attitude (approach to what you do), and attitude informs and reveals your character.

Integrity implies a state undiminished and whole, fully aligned with your values.

Integrity is both a way of being and doing.

To think and act with integrity both informs and reveals your character.

Notice that both intention and integrity inform and reveal your character.

So what?

According to many spiritual or philosophical traditions, virtue is ALL that's required to be fully human and truly happy regardless of your situation or circumstances.

And what is virtue?

Virtue is a measure of moral excellence as displayed through ethical action (AKA "the content of your character").

So, all you need to live a flourishing life is simply to nurture virtue through cultivating the content of your character.

Easy, right?

Not in my experience. How about yours?

Simple is rarely easy...

What to do?

Again, the ancient spiritual and philosophical traditions are instructive—live into your soul's purpose.

We are each born whole and sufficient.

You possess everything you need to thrive while you strive to build identity and forge meaning in your life.

Society and institutionalized systems may mean well, but they are built to fulfill their purposes, not yours.

The path to virtue begins when you decide to seek and follow it.

Doing so with intention and integrity eases the effort.

Are you on the path of virtue? How can you bring more intention and integrity to that journey today?

Barbilee Hemmings - "Take the time to pee."

Today I'm sharing some insight for finding fulfillment, forging meaning, and making an impact from an inspiring difference-maker living her legacy. Barbilee Hemmings is the founder of Quality of Life Assurance. Catch our entire conversation here.

[BARBILEE] "Take time to pee. No, seriously, okay?"

"So we have to pee about five times a day, right? If you're not, there's a problem. Drink more water, okay? But at least five times a day is pretty much the minimum."

"Take the time. Go into the bathroom. Go pee."

"Women, don't squat. Sit. Relax. Allow. Don't press. Just allow."

"Boys, don't be looking around. Do your thing, right? Wash your hands. Play with the bubbles. Sing 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.'

"Take a minute as you're walking out. Take three to five really good belly breaths and move on with your day."

"Just take time to pee."

"I love that. It helps bring at least five moments of intentional awareness and mindfulness to your day. And that will make a great headline when I put it in the blog!"

Barbilee just delivered a powerful insight about how you can take mundane, everyday activity as an opportunity for some conscious appreciation and presence. How might you practice enoughness and taking small steps in living your legacy today?

How to Become Who You've Always Been Meant to Be

How do you become who you're meant to be?

You must remember and reconnect with who you've always been.

For example...

When I was twelve, my friend Andy and I found patterns to make Muppet-style puppets in one of my mom's magazines.

We crafted a cast of puppets, built a stage, scripted a variety show, and invited the neighborhood to a summer's day performance.

We killed.

We staged several other shows, charging 50 cents a ticket, and enrolled my mom to sell popcorn and lemonade.

This is one of my favorite childhood memories.

I see my love for creativity, collaboration, and connection in it.

Is it any wonder I had a 25-year career as a professional musician?

I continue to leverage my love for creativity, collaboration, and connection through my endeavors, The Art of Encore Living.

What about you?

You were born sufficient and whole, possessing EVERYTHING you need to thrive and strive.

You were born on, with, and for a purpose.

Are you living on, with, and for a purpose right now?

How might reflecting on what you loved to do in the past help clarify what you should be doing now?

If you're looking for a trusted guide and a community of fellow travelers to help you rediscover your hidden wholeness and the work you're meant to do now, click here to learn how we can work together.

Let's get you guided and going, making the difference only you can make. We need you and waiting for you to share your gifts with us.

Are you using social media?

Some people have a love-hate relationship with social media.

Mine was more of a hate-hate relationship...

That began to change when I was a student and later a 4-time coach in Seth Godin's Marketing Seminar.

What I learned there is that social media is merely a tool. It's like a hammer.

A hammer can be used to build a house or smash someone's skull.

How you use ANY available tool is up to you.

You can use social media, OR it can use you, but that's on you.

I'm still learning to use social media as a tool to make change that's worth it happen.

Change for the better made with and for people I care about.

And that change is happening like any worthwhile change.

Slowly.

Connection by connection and conversation by conversation.

Transformation feels like it happens in an instant.

But it's really the result of MANY small transitions.

Most of which go unnoticed.

Making a difference doesn't look and feel as sexy as what you see in the feeds of the pay-to-play influencers and experts that clog up your social media feed.

But it DOES look and feel fulfilling and meaningful.

As an Encore Life Coach, I help people leverage the wisdom and experience they've earned to make the difference only they can make in their lives 3rd act.

Don't die with the difference only you can make.

Live your legacy.

Does this resonate with you?

If so, sure, follow along on social media.

But if you're ready to take a bolder step into possibility (and your potential), grab a copy of the "How to Master the Art of Encore Living Quickstart Guide" at CreativeOnPurpose.com.

Angel Shannon - "Enoughism"

Today I'm sharing some insight for finding fulfillment, forging meaning, and making an impact from an inspiring difference-maker living her legacy.[Angel Shanon is the founder of Steva Health. Catch our entire conversation here.

[ANGEL] "To your bigger question about what to do, because that's what people want, "Give me. Give me. Tell me what to do ," right?"

"We're very 'do' oriented."

"I have this little little sticky notepad thing that i came up with, 'Today i will not...'"

"Literally, it just has lines. I give that out to clients and say, 'Just pick one thing you will not do today.'"

"It's really reversing it's reversing that propensity to always have something to."

"And here's another thing I think a lot about i terms of my own path in overcoming what I call 'enoughism.'"

"There was a time when i just always felt like I needed to do more. Give more. And i'd be working harder than my patients!"

"I'd be in the middle of the night coming up with resources and tools and they'd come to their appointments and I'd say, 'Did you do any of the things that we talked about?'"

"And they'd say, 'No.'"

"So, I'm working harder than my patients are to help them."

"So, I had to overcome that 'enoughism.'"

"So I  have another little sticky thing that I give to folks."

"I just give them a little marker and give them a sticky pad  to just write 'Enough.'"

"I just take that word, 'Enough,' and write it on your sticky pad and post it in a couple of places as a reminder that you are always enough and you are always doing enough."

"And I think just rewiring that mindset of doing, doing, doing is, again, just another first step."

Angel just delivered a powerful insight about the importance of "enoughness" and small steps. How might you practice enoughness and taking small steps in living your legacy today?

Work Life Balance vs. Work Life Integration

Encore living isn't about work-life balance.

Work-life balance is a delusion and an invitation to shame and suffering.

A life worth living is much more than two neatly ordered buckets.

What I'm learning in the second half of life is that I play MANY roles.

And HOW I show up in them is entirely my responsibility.

Climbing my life's second mountain hasn't been any less challenging than scaling the first, but it's far more joyful.

Why is that?

I'm clearer on who I really am, what I'm really here to do, and whom I do that work with and for.

Knowing that I'm entering my life's third and final act helps me clarify and commit to what REALLY matters.

Now that I know what's essential, I can spend my time deciding and doing what needs to be done AND I do it more effortlessly.

The alternative to the exhausting and impossible pursuit of work-life balance is the energizing and possible achievement of work-life integration.

How can you be who you are everywhere you go and do the best you can with and for those you're with?

What does living from the inside out and engaging on, with, and for a purpose look like to you?

Profitability vs. Prosperity

Can you make a living from the difference only you can make?

Sure. If that's what you want to do.

At some point, you realize that profitability is different from prosperity.

You probably are already familiar with the experience of trading hours of your life for dollars.

How does that feel?

It never felt great for me.

No matter how many dollars you earn per hour or week, it isn't enough if what you're doing for them doesn't align with who you are, what you're good at, and where you belong.

The invitation in the second half of life is to recalibrate your aim by putting the integrity and intention of your work first.

Leveraging your wisdom and experience to serve people who share your values and need your talents to enhance their lives creates true prosperity—a sense of fulfillment, meaning, and thriving.

What I have found is the remuneration, and even financial abundance follows. Prosperity can be profitable.

Invest in getting the work right first. If you encourage others to invest in themselves by paying you for the transformation you facilitate, it will be easier to see the value you deliver.

What does prosperity look like for you in your encore endeavor? How can you trust yourself enough to invest in yourself and the difference only you can make today?

Living From the Inside Out

The exquisite opportunity available to us in the second half of life is less about reinvention and more of an invitation to become what we always were meant to be.

The first half of life is about accomplishment as measured by school and society. Living from the outside in.

The second half of life is about meaning as measured by contribution and connection. Living from the inside out.

Slough off the dead skin of what schooling and making a living required. Reimagine what living the good life really means.

And remember, it's easy to fall into the trap of always looking forward—seeking your becoming.

But it's in your being that you have the opportunity (and choice) to craft your journey of emergence.

And to live more authentically (and effortlessly) into your life's encore, don't forget to take a look back, all the way back, to what you've been.

You were once fearlessly curious, stepping into possibility, and fueled by wonder and joy.

How else would you have learned to walk and talk or all the other impossible things you achieved without external instruction or validation.

Those efforts and the acts were their own rewards, not their results or outcomes.

That is the exquisite invitation and opportunity of your life's second act—reconnecting with the awe and adventure of childhood as you employ the wisdom and experience of education and occupation to the difference only you can make in the second half of life for its own sake.

Are you ready to live into the second half of life on purpose? How are you doing that today?
