Nothing

I got nothing for you today.  Not a darn thing.  Just pushing through the work . . . waiting for the weekend.  I'm trying to take some time off next week to spend with family, which means I am putting in some very long days right now.  I got out of my office last night at nine, ate a burger, took a soak, and went to bed.  All I can say is it had better not rain next week when I spend those hours I'm storing away.  -ha!-

Spring is springy this year

This year, I bought a ring to hang outside that is full of nesting supplies: soft cotton, rag twine, feathers.  I hung it up about a month ago, and everyone was ignoring it–until now.  The thing is starting to show some wear, and yesterday, when I was out with the dogs, I watched a chickadee using it.  It made me feel really good, and I tried to get a picture of him, but once he knew I was watching, he didn't come back.  At least, not when I was watching again.  -laugh-  So instead, I have a ...

PLA page

I realized I didn't have anything for you today, so I whipped up a PLA page showing what I did out at the Public Library Association National Conference.  It was a lot of fun as you can see by my expression.  Had the chance to work on my public speaking skill (which frankly suck dishwater) and sign a bunch of books for some very enthusiastic librarians.  I worked two years in an elementary school library, and the people who make it their life's work have a special place for me.  Anyway...

I'm ba-a-a-a-ack!

Hey all.  I'm back home, and trying to settle down after a very intense trip out to Portland and Seattle.  :-)  As you can see, spring is popping up all over here.  This is my bloodroot, which has been in the ground about three years, rescued from a building site.  (I asked)

One thing I've noticed over the years of flying out to Portland in late Feb early May is that Rock Hill and the northern west coast seem to have spring at exactly the same time. the same trees are flowering and the same...

Yikes!

I apologize for not posting yesterday, but honestly, I had thirty minutes at the airport yesterday, and then an hour and a half for lunch and check in at the hotel before I was out again, hitting Seattle with a signing at Fort Lewis, (left lots of signed stock) and several drop-by signings (including University Bookstore), and then an event out at Third Place Books. (stock there too.)  Didn't have any downtime until almost midnight.  Long.  Long day.

I'll be in the air most of the day today...

March 25, 2010

I'm at Powells, Portland tonight.

Well, Beaverton, actually, at Cedar Hills crossing.  This will be the third or fourth time I've been out there, and they have a beautiful spot for an event, so if you're in the area, come on out and bring your Hollows and/or Madison questions!  Tomorrow is Fort Lewis and Third Place Books out in Seattle.  (appearance info)

Today I'll be doing the radio shot (Between the Covers/Mysteries) and then a panel at the PLANC.  -grin-  I'm going to be talking about young adult and adult writing...

Headed to Portland

I'm headed to Portland OR today for a couple of functions.  Got a radio spot at KBOO-FM, (90.7 Thursday at 11:45.  I'll let you know if it's archived.)  as well as the panel at the Public Library Association National Conference.  After that, it's a whirlwind of five signings in two days.  (laugh)  Two are drive-by signings, which are fun because I generally get to see the back room of the bookstore.  Every single one is different, but they are all alike.  Kind of like the people who work in t...

Next issue . . .

I was back to work on Monday, breaking another part of the rewrite open.  This time, there was an issue of logic concerning Rachel's underdog response, one which I totally agreed with, but hadn't seen the way around until I got to the end and looked backward.  So . . . I totally rewrote a chapter yesterday, and will have to rewrite another two this morning to carry on the new logic, but basically what I did was make a reveal a few chapters earlier to get rid of a questionable situation and...

Welcome to Kim Harrison's Blog

. . . where you can ask me a question or see what others are asking.  I usually post every weekday about what's going on in my work or home life, but feel free to go off the current topic.  I will be opening up a spoiler page March 29th, where I will take spoiler questions about Black Magic Sanction, but until then, please keep your comments spoiler free.

Traveling to Charlottesville, VA

I'm traveling today, so the post will be short.  If you are in the area, I'll be doing a panel tonight at 6:00, at the Festival of the Book.  There's a B&N signing the next morning at ten.  More at the website! Hope to see some of you there!
