Friday, and the work continues
The title pretty much sums it up for me today. A last push, and then I can rest my weary brain for a few days as I work in the yard instead. I did get out yesterday for about 20 minutes, right before sunset, and I took a couple of pictures of my yard. The tulips are past their prime, but the trilliums are prepping. This first picture is a trillium that I rescued from that building site. It was not blooming when I dug it up, and I feel totally gratified that it chose to do so so early...

It got cold
Spring took a slowdown this week, and it's not gotten much above 60 this week. No rain, either. Spring definitely has slowed, and that's not a bad thing. We usually go from 50 to 80, so I'm enjoying the cooler, midrange temps. I do miss not having the window open all day, though.
Rewrite has slowed down, too, and I'm not where I wanted to be by now, despite the long hours in the office. I'm not too unhappy because what I am changing seems to be for the better, and not in just a...

Covers
And then there are days when the long hours and frustrating conundrums give way and show you why you're working so hard. I have SEEEEEN the mass market cover for Black Magic Sanction, and it is beautiful. It's not only beautiful, but it's gorgeously beautiful. (Can't show you yet. Way too soon.) I honestly don't know how or why I luck out, but the cover guys have always put that extra effort into my covers, turning them from excellent to excellent, classy, and something that takes my...

Progress
So, yesterday, I stumbled out of my office at 8:30, ate, fell in the tub, and relaxed for half an hour reading about Cincy's Zoo. I had no idea just how different, and alike in a lot of ways, the zoos were back in the late 1800s and early 19oos. Interesting . . .
Today should be wash, rinse, repeat, with me hopefully getting to where I want in the rewrite. I made good progress yesterday, but am currently stuck on a section where I'm shifting motivations and adding more action. Mmmm. Not s...

Canadian stops added to Supernatural Summer Tour
Big news today? I'm going to Canada the last week in May as part of HarperCollins Canadian Supernatural summer tour! Times, dates, and places are up at the website. Last I heard, I'll be joining Aprilynne Pike and Lesley Livingston, and I'm really excited about it. I met Aprilynne last year, and can't wait!
But for now, I'm back to work. -happy sigh- There's dirt under my nails, my fingers ache from my yard work this weekend, and I'm more than ready to sit at my desk and do nothing...

Glad it's Friday
I'm glad it's Friday, though that means that the first week in April is gone. Dudes, that was fast. I've really got to start cranking the pages.

Dirt under my nails
I had the chance to get some dirt under my nails this weekend, and though my fingers still ache from digging, I'm still riding the peace that came from putting something into the ground and knowing it's going to be there for a long time. As for the rewrite . . . It has come to a halt of sorts. My editor has had a few new thoughts after I told her what I want to do with the end. Good thoughts, I hope . . . -grin-
Oh! And they had the cover conference. This one's going to be fantastic...

June Tour info up
And at long last, I have the June tour info available. Here's a quick run down, but I've got more info of stores and times at the website, events page. If you live in Canada, stop back later in the week. I might have some good news. And as always, though this tour is targeting the Madison books, Hollows books are always welcome. The Cook titles too. ;-)

You want it when?
I spent the weekend looking over my next 12 months, and I made a big gulp. Sigh. And I thought I was going to be able to slow my schedule down. Alas . . . a personal writing project that I want to do for myself is in danger of sliding to next year–again. And when I say again, I mean an entire 16 months from now. Blah. Making my contractual deadlines is not going to be an issue, but I'm in danger of losing the three months that I've been carving out for myself for the last year or so...

Happy Easter
Happy Easter, to those who celebrate it. I went to get my spring decorations out this year, and I realized I don't have any. Nada. Not a colorful plate, not a single string of plastic flowers, or a scented candle. All I've got are a set of multicolored cups, a few cookie cutters, and an old PAAS kit. And then I realized this is the first year in a long time, that I've been in a position where I'm not scrambling to hit some deadline and can actually decorate. Saying no is good. (grin) ...
