Fall into Great Reads

Another opportunity for a book for the post-summer times, using the pun based on an American season which occurs before winter. It’s called Fall into Great Reads and contains a set of fab stories.

Dark tales for you to grab

Another day, another pile of book opportunities, called Dark Thrillers. The theme of the collection are thrillers (really?) whose content is as far from cozy as you can imagine.

It includes The Case, a story of a private investigator searching for a carrybag across America. Oh yes, it’s one of mine.

Pounding the pages

This week has been a writing one for me: I’m in the middle of Eastside Hustler, the second part of the Alex Cohen series.

I’ve been trying to create some depth to the characters as I weave Alex with some real people. This week he’s been spending time with Arnold Rothstein, known as the Big Bankroll and rumoured to have fixed the World Series, an American sporting competition. It’s been challenging but I am soooo enjoying the experience.

Have a good week.

Grab books for Free

And now for something which involves the word FREE. It is a giveaway of ebooks which are New to You and comprises a heady mix of thrillers as well as novels from other genres.

That said, I should warn there are some romance stories in among the list, but before you run away, there are some great crime tales too – and more of them than books with hunks on the cover. Of course, there is nothing wrong with a hunk on the front of a book. I’m just letting you know in case it’s an issue for you.

Boots: fill them – you know you want to…

Show me the money!

Now I’d like to share a book from David Fuentes, which I mentioned last week and feel the need to pop it back into the front of your mind. Follow The Money has a simple central conceit – it is a free four-book series where you discover the lives of the people who touch a bank note…

Delve deep into the murky underbelly of Britain’s criminal underworld whilst discovering a side of London that you never dreamt possible. Prepare to be shocked and amazed by what you find on your journey from drug dens to strip clubs and more whilst following a day in the life of a single £20 note; but tread carefully, your next step could be your last.

Here is a fab collection of mystery and crime novels to whet your appetite, all under the title, Edge of Your Seat. As the name implies, the stories are quite thrilling and are… thrillers.

The cost to you? The time it takes to click on a few links and download some excellent tales of thrilling derring-do.

Brief Update

And a quick note to let you know that I am continuing to work on the sequel to The Bowery Slugger set in the 1920s called Eastside Hustler. I won’t go into plot details just yet, but suffice to say I am enjoying spending time with Alex Cohen and the people he is hanging out with. They are not the nicest guys you will ever meet, but they sure pack a punch into their lives.

On a less fictional note, I am expanding my reach to enable people to buy my books from Google Play, a well-known website you might have heard of. At the time of writing, only The Heist and The Case are available there, but I will add my entire back catalogue before the end of September.

Show Me The Money

First let me say that I am very happy to recommend a book from an author compatriot of mine: Follow The Money by David Fuentes. The blurb says it all…

Follow The Money: A Tale of Tales’ is a collection of immersive Crime Adventure Novellas that follow the lives of different bank notes on their journeys, as they pass from one doomed soul to the next, through London and New York respectively. Both of these bank notes undergo … A TWIST OF FATE in the second instalment of each story that sends them on a completely new journey into the unknown; so fasten your seat belts and brace yourself for the ride of your lives. YOUR JOURNEY AWAITS…

Another reason I mention it is because David and I share a similar sensibility – we both mix our dark crime stories with a lacy element of steamy scenes. It’s retailing at a bargain price at the minute, so I would recommend you fill your boots while you can.

What’s Been Happening?

I have been hard at work this last two weeks working on three things, two of which will be visible to you almost immediately. Oh? Do tell…

First, you can now buy ebooks and paperbacks direct from my website, which means you can be saved from wading through all the sales messages from the online sales platforms – and I must admit I get to keep a much higher proportion of the sales revenue which makes it easier for me to continue to write my stories.

The site still offers you links to buy from Amazon, B&N, Apple and Kobo but you now also get another option of buying direct. eBooks are securely sent from BookFunnel as soon as you have paid and that service is very good at helping readers get ebooks onto their various devices. On top of that, I’ve added a new domain name which is much easier for all of us to remember: www.leob.ws although the old one will still be used too. Also, and this is of more interest if you use your phone rather than on a desktop or laptop, if you go to leob.ws/shop then you get a simple page to buy loads of my books direct from me.

Second, I am in the process of putting the first in a new series up for pre-order. The Bowery Slugger is the first part in the Alex Cohen series and I am really stoked. It follows Jewish teenager Alex Cohen (surprise!) as he arrives in New York 1915 and joins the Kosher Nostra as the Jewish and Italian gangs started to take over from the German and Irish crews who ruled the roost before the Great War. One way or another, I have been planning this for years.

Third, and this flows very naturally from number two, I have been working on book 2 of the Alex Cohen series, Eastside Hustler. Its focus is the Prohibition and the characters who fought and died during that decade. Again, it’s really great to be fleshing out ideas that have been rattling around in my head for so long.

To celebrate all this good news, I shall be sending a separate email with a newsletter subscriber only discount coupon aimed just at the kind souls who receive my weekly emails. It’ll go out over the weekend.
