East Side Hustler is into editing

Eastside Hustler

I’m pleased to be able to announce that the East Side Hustler, the sequel to Bowery Slugger in the Alex Cohen series is now in editing and I completed the first draft two days ago. Happiness is…

I’ve found that two scenes have been magically deleted during the writing process which is a tad disappointing and I am going to spend the weekend rewriting them, as well as carrying on hacking each scene into submission. By January, the manuscript will be ready for launch and I am looking at a February or March launch. More details nearer the time, of course.vAround Xmas time, I shall go back to the Lagotti Family series and carve out the sex scenes from each of the books and then it’ll be time to start the Midtown Huckster, the third Alex Cohen novel.

When I think back to almost a year ago and I was wading through the treacle of my attempt at writing a female sleuth story, I have to say that there has never been a more enjoyable writing time for me than now. That is in part due to the fabulous comments I receive from readers, something I never thought I would get. This is not false modesty but genuinely I never imagined anyone wanting to take time out of their busy days to say something positive about my work.

So thank you.

Leo

Watch for the steamy side of life

For those of you who enjoy the steamier side of the written word, there is a collection called Welcome to the Naughty List, which contains hot and steamy tales of romance, thriller and other genres. Free books one and all, not all the stories comprise bare-chested fellows on the front cover, which makes a pleasant change.

Little too early for Valentine

We might only be in November, but I have just got to the end of February. “How so?” I hear you ask. Well, I am glad you did because I am, of course, referring to February 14, 1929 when a group of Jewish gangsters tried to assassinate Bugs Moran, Al Capone’s enemy who ran the north side of Chicago.

I am pleased to confirm that I have just written a section of the East Side Hustler in which the St Valentine’s Day massacre features and the ‘only’ things left are to add the ending and to go back and lace more of the story with Alex’s wartime experiences.

All in all, I am expecting/hoping that this sequel to the Alex Cohen series will hit the streets in February 2020. Who knows, I might even launch on the day reserved for romantics for this tale of the Jewish mob in 1920s America. Nice.

Book Shout Out

As you know if you’ve been following this newsletter for a while, every now and again I like to mention a particular book you might be interested in and today is one of those days. This time, I’d like to bring Escaping the Past by Edie Baylis to your attention. You might be able to guess that I’ll let the blurb do the work…

After being released from prison, Jane Ellerton is forced to assume a new identity and relocate in an attempt to leave the painful memories of both what she has done, as well as lost, in the past.

When problems arise at her place of work, she gladly accepts an unexpected job offer, but instead of this improving the situation, she finds herself embroiled in a bitter feud between two rival firms. It is then that she realises she isn’t the only one who is not what they proclaim to be.

No matter how hard Jane tries, the net is closing in and the life she’d been trying so desperately to forget is fast threatening to catch up with her. Not everything can be left in the past and some things just can’t be changed.

*******

** This is a Downfall Series book, but can be read as a standalone. It contains written depictions of graphic violence, sex and strong language. It also contains some themes that may be uncomfortable for certain readers.**
