Six on Saturday – Blossom Bounty

It’s still late winter here, and we have had unusually cold, wet and overcast weather. This has had the effect of delaying, the spring flowering until much later. On the plus side, it might pan out like last spring that was so long it slid into December, making four months of spring flowers, instead of three! A delightful side effect. 🌸

Today was sunnyish and this liberated the spring blossom scent into the air much more noticeablely. It was like someone turned on the fragrance switch!

I have been planting bare root roses, fruit trees and lots of plants that I have grown from cuttings. Growing from cuttings is much slower, but it is very thrifty and the plants always seem to be much more well adapted to our garden. Once they hit their groove and properly establish their roots, they grow very well.

Pretty sweet smelling flowering prunus blossoms

Tree lucerne, Euryops virginianus, and osteospermums starting to bloom.

Cute school bus planter with succulents, calendulas and stock plant.Pretty variegated leaves of this late winter flowering pelargonium The lovely ruby red new leaves on the roses and a Manchurian pear blossom. Some self sown Italian parsley in a garden bed, much to my delight!.After being without substantial parsley in my garden for a few years, now I have 20 big plants, thanks garden fairies!

That’s all from me. Happy Gardening. 🌼🌸💞

Embrace the Change That You Are

Ooh I like this…one of my posts from a few years ago with a channelled message from above..

Life never remains still, but is in constant movement and evolution. Embrace changes when they need to happen, its the universe rearranging the chairs so that you get a better seat.

Soggy Six – Six on Saturday

I took half my photos yesterday when it was sunny in parts, but today we have rain, fog and more rain. So I had to go out in between showers to snap more soggy lovelies (thanks to a la ninia cycle).

Unusually wet in South Australia for us at this time of year, but we go with Mother Nature’s flow, she is wise and compassionate and knows what she is doing for the highest and best good of us all and the planet. We are going through a giant cleansing,  Via water a sacred element making way for our first ascension while we are in a body here in planet earth, for the first time. Making the planet a more positive and loving place for us all.

Yay, today is the first day the tree lucerne blossom tree has flowered. Unfortunately it is all wet and soggy, so it will have to be enjoyed more on another day A couple of years ago I decided to plant out a row of herb pots near the house, so that we can always have on hand for cooking, thyme, chives, chef’s parsley, oregano and coriander. I worked and we pretty much have access to theses herbs all year, except for the coriander which resows in winter.A pretty two-toned pelargonium A side view of Ericepholas africanus, French lavender, pink rosemary and cubby house.Australian native white hardenbergia climbing plant flowers. Now this is a fairy sown felicia, that I found under a plant in my garden a few years ago, it is a large flowered pale pink, which I have never seen in any nursery. I call it Sarah’s pink, because I can!Pale blue felicias look kind of pretty soggy

That’s all from me. Hope you have a great weekend. Happy Gardening! 🌈 🌸🦋💞

Six on Saturday – Self-Seeding Wonders

It’s late winter here and the signs of spring are all around us. Now each week a few more plants start to bloom. Reaching a crescendo in late spring. The flower show really has four phases. Pre-spring flowers in late winter with the start of the calendulas, hundreds of marguerite daisies, felicias, euryops daisies French and then Italian lavenders. Purple alyogyne native hibiscus blooms and perennial wallflowers.

Then it’s time for the early spring show with the purple emu bushes, flowering prunus and Manchurian pear blossoms, stocks, wallflowers, pelargoniums, and numerous flowering perennials. Also potted spring bulbs like rannunculus and Dutch irises. Mid spring introduces the bearded irises into the mix, of which I have quite a few, with three open iris gardens around me I have felt it my duty to procure new varieties each year!

Late spring or high spring here bursts forth with rose blooms of every sort and self sown cornflowers and Shirley poppies, bright colours jostling for attention around every corner. So each stage has a distinct flavour and flower tone and I dare say energetic tone.

The calendulas have fascinated and delighted me this year. Shining their happy little faces despite a cold misty winter. The flouresescent Amber yellow colour rejoicing against the inky winter skies. Colours are important in your garden, this late winter season we are warmed by the yellow hues, buoying up our spirits, warming up our senses. The calendulas started from a single old fashioned variety seeding given to me by a friend and they have self-sown (with the help of the fairies). Ably assisted by me transplanting little seedings around the garden over the years. The colour is so jolly it always makes me happy to see them on cold winter days.

An avenue of self seeding calendulas greets guests A sneak peak of the daisy and native hibiscus show to come The pretty purple Alyogynes (native hibiscus) are starting to bloom 💜 A happy euryops and marguerite duo.A sweet smelling stock starting to flower.Perennial wallflower winter joy, always a treat for late winter flowers and fragrance.

The originator of these posts is The Propagator .

Glad you visited. Happy Gardening! 💞🦋🌸
